Making a track built on modular and live recordings in a daw is a doomed endeavour, but there are still some nice tricks here, which is what is important
@@lazylazy871 Totally agree. I cannot say that I'm an advanced modular user, but I cannot imagine one thing you wouldn't be able to replicate in Ableton or Bitwig. And if there are counter arguments for that, you can have VCV Rack 2 VST in your DAW! Bang!
Floating points is someone who has delved so deep into technique and creative approach. No one is going to be getting the same result. Don't let your understanding of tutorials mislead you. In your mind, tutorials are designed to give you the answer you are looking for. But be fair to yourself. you wont get the exact answers you seek from a video. the only time you will feel like you truly have an answer to your production questions is by learning what techniques are at your disposal and exploring their various functions on a case by case basis. Extrapolate pieces, without taking every step or video title so literally. Besides, technical approach is only a fraction of what makes incredible music. You need a creative philosophy to drive yourself deeper into your approach and love of the art. Good luck finding yours. Cheers and love.
You're really tapping into the niches that producers have been hoping to see on RUclips for some time. Floating points, Overmono, Leon vynhall? we appreciate you keeping your ear to the ground and making this kind of content. It's something the RUclips production community has completely missed over the last 10 years. Respect mate. youre absolutely going in the right direction. cheers.
Very nice of you to take the time to write that, mate. It is absolutely my intention to fill the gaps left by RUclipsr tutors which should be filled with instruction on left field material. The content will get progressively more niche and specific as the years go by, but I want to clear through all the big hitters first, the ones I truly love!
To make a comment about the 7min mark, when you shared some of the loving comments you got: you're a GENIUS. The world is full of untalented bullies so never mind. Keep strong - you have many fans!!!!!
Honeslty mate think I've learned more practical and creative techniques from your channel than any other. Appreciate the effort that must go into these
A f%$k tonne of effort, let me tell you! It's why the output rate is a tad slow in comparison to other RUclipsrs. I bust my balls getting the stuff done. But I tell you what...I fecking love it, mate!!!!
Wooow, what a perfect sync. Just opened RUclips to watch an inspiring tutorial and saw yours with one of my most inspiring artists at the moment! Great tutorial, everything about it is top notch! You are such a talented man, Sir!
Cheers, Mr. Sweet! Hey..when tf are you gonna get on to me for some Ableton lessons??!! You shud set it as a project, and get some content out of it!! Lol.
Amazing! There are so many unusual, fun techniques in your videos. Thank you for all your hard work. Max Cooper or Daniel Avery style would be massively appreciated.
I know most of what you make is house/trance, but I'd love to see more jungle/new "breakcore" that's seen a resurgence in the last 5 years or so. Artists that fall into this realm are sewerslvt, tokyopill, starlit, blksmiith, nedaj, nuphory, eightiesheadachetape, vertigoaway, mayyro, machine girl...
I have done some personal tutorials on things like Sewerslvt, and even a "how to rescore Ape Escape"...I will get around to covering it on the channel, but until then, you can't beat Ned Rush! He absolutely is the high priest of Ableton breakcore. Literally, stop reading this message and look him up now!!
Hi Gavin, thanks again for another great tutorial. I’d love for you to dissect and explain the technique Floating Point uses for his track “Falaise” please 😊
Love this series. Even when it’s something like this where it’s a recreation of a very different setup I always learn a new trick or two for ableton. Cheers. Also are you a cork man? Limerick? Trying to place the accent
blows my mind how u can do this in a daw! Think this kind of thing is possible on logic or way harder due to the lack of some of these ableton features?
I searched everywhere and can't find that tape saw cm sound you used for the chords. I own the "all samples from mars" bundle + a splice subscription and nothing. There is vinyl synth from mars that I went through but not a "vinyl samples from mars". I know it's a really basic ass sound but it's perfect for those chords. Any advice?
It triple-dog DARE you to try and make a track like Lassigue Bendthaus’ “Automotive”…. And get the timings right! The whole Matter album was done with hand-spliced tape and even he has never tried to recreate it.
Hi man, great chanel... im a DJ tottally new in hardware midi, I love the Floating Points Flow and variations and the salty retro punch of Boys Noize..kind of Detroit IDM. Im searching across the RUclips many gear but im lost about what i need for design this sound and play live in Clubs my own creations mixed with other tracks. Actually i have a Roland DJ 505 with a very limited TR and one MIDI Clock that i send to a Roland S´1, I need more complex and organic layers but i dnt know what machine buy... Can u help me?
Hello mate. To be honest I would not be the best person to ask that question to as by trade I am an Ableton production expert as opposed to a gear expert. I believe that everything you are looking for can be achieved in the box through good sample selection and processing but beyond that there are other channels that specialise in gear and getting the most out of their synths.
Anyone know a good way of easily doing beat repeaters on fruity loops? Would it be using Grossbeat (which I don' have) or just manually adding additional beats on cloned drum patterns?
Another hollow ground video which i swear is made to show people that he can make a song, rather than help viewers make a song. The lack of detail is massively frustrating.
Honestly, does not sound like Floating Points to me
I find it pretty close to the original track. Neither Sam himself could replicate it 100% from scratch.

@@1998Cebolatrue but you can use modular techniques to achieve same sounds and sequencers in a daw if you’re clever
