By the time I am watching this video Feb 18 2022 it has only 1,699 views. HOW CAN THAT BE?????? SHAME on you RUclips algorithm!!! This video contains everything a video/photo/film/etc maker would want. Storytelling, awesome light and grading, real life experiences, a very solid testimonial, honest opinions, out-of-the-ordinary situations, quality proof etc. etc. etc. And not only that, it also shows how the product works and performs in real life, highlighting the benefits on assignments for paying clients that actually pay your bills. REAL stuff! Not some RUclipsr (a k a entertainer) who makes a living out of doing gear reviews in a clean studio environment, but REAL work life situations! Can't tell you enough how much I loved this video, and I am awaiting the delivery of my Sachtler aktiv 8T flowtech 75 GS on Tuesday next week. I am DYING to get it out on my planned client shoots! :D

I had a similar thing happen on a military test range , I shot the videos of warheads detonating , the war head contents 8000, 6 millimeter fragments , two of the Manfrotto tripods were hit in the arena , they are still working like they day they were bought. it pays to buy a pro brand and will out last cheap brands.

Hello Luc, first time watching your channel. That's exactly the kind of in-the-field knowledge about a product that I was searching for as I'm hating the 3 legged clamp or twistlock legs, that require 9 operations, before they're set up or adjusted and I'm curious about the Flowtech 75. Great. I subscribed immediately and I'm curious to see what other videos I'll discover here. One little advice: Carbon splinters are sharp as hell and an engineer at a car company told me that microsplinters that you poke into your body will never be absorbed and might cause damage if they wander around. Just saying that after seeing the splintered leg section in one of your frames haha

Hi Luc, yup, don't EVER sell it. When it's time is up put it in a display case with a nice engraved note about the bullet. Maybe it would make a good icon on your channel intro? Used wisely it will bring in business for you for years to come. Great story and so glad you are safe, sorry for those who were not so fortunate. Hmm, maybe that's it's real role, as a working memorial.

@@LucForsyth Not sure about anyone else here but I was waiting for the rest of the story:
Why were you being shot at? Where were you? Were you trying to film angry folks with guns, or did you get caught in some crossfire?
It's always the details of a story that helps it come to life. And yeah, we get that you love the tripod cos it keeps working AND it saved you that day... but, what was going ON that day?!

Hi! I am currently studying cinematography at the Norwegian Film School.
I would like to ask you, what is your overall experience is with the system of counterbalancing with steps? I am currently considering the aktiv-system, as the overall system seems very practical, but I am a bit afraid (maybe for no reason) that I won't be able to balance it 100% perfect, since it's not a stepless counterbalance system.
Have you by any chance tested and compared with more expensive heads like the OConnor 1040 Fluid Head - which has stepless counterbalance?
with If I could get your take on this issue I'd be very grateful.
    Marius

Should I choose the fluid head FSB 8 Mark II over the Aktiv for wildlife photography during long hikes while carrying the camera and tripod on my shoulder? Will it be sturdy enough to not fall apart?

  •  9 месяцев назад

Thank you for the review! I've heard from a couple of users that they have problems with dirt getting into the system (sand, mud, dirty water). The tripod is then very hard to clean, they say. Can you relate to that?

I - too - love my Flowtech. But sadly I was shooting in southern Labrador, Northern Canada when the foot snapped off. No bullets, bears or carelessness involved. The foot simple snapped. AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 7 DAY SHOOT!! A roll of Gorilla tape save the shoot, though. I still think it's an amazing tripod. And I've recently ordered an ACTIV8 head as an upgrade. The tape is holding so well - it's doesn't seem worth the cash to fix. Good to know I can use them to stop a bullet though ... as long as it doesn't hit the foot. Great video. Any thoughts on the FSB line of heads compared to ACE or Aktiv versions? I'm pretty much sold on the flowtech legs. But 75 vs 100 bowl and FSB, ACE, and Aktiv leave me a little lost. Currently running some built up mirrorless rigs (cage, mic, handle, monitor, rods, v mount etc.) with up to 200-600mm lens, not the heaviest rig but certainly not "light weight". Would also want to get into a head that leaves me room to grow into an FX6 or FX9 down the road. I primarily shoot wildlife and hunting/fishing content.

    • @shaggysk8r1

Going with the flowtech100 and aktiv 10. Hopefully it can hold up to the water, mud, snow, and ice I'm going to throw at it.
