All the victims and their families have my deepest sympathies. But seriously who ever the troll was, his sense of humor is second to none. That really was funny
What happened was that the news station asked for the names of the pilots, but for some reason that’s illegal(don’t ask me). So the person who got asked gave them the list of bullshit names which the intern turned in. I’m pretty sure that’s what happened if I am correct
@@flum4us I realize that. I was just commenting on how not only were the names funny in the prank, but they also were actually in sequential order telling the story.
I remember the day this happened, it quickly became well known in California. My family couldn't stop laughing at how bad the mistake was on their part for not realizing and that someone even attempted it. When I went to school the next day, everyone already knew and was laughing about it too. Don't know why this was recommended years later to me, but I guess a trip down memory lane.
Apparently an intern at the NTSB received the call. Chances are, they thought it was a prank and responded in a sarcastic manner that was not received by the news staff and went with it. So in the end, the news station was pranked and didn't know it, they called the NTSB and got an intern that viewed it as a prank and decided to have some fun and confirmed the names.
if you read news articles tied to this (its been a year so maybe you found out), theres a process to get live news on the air, where things like this are verified, so somebody either didnt do their job right, or the entire chain was in on it, or everyone was so distraught so no one would have ever imagined victims names would be fake so they assumed it was correct and let it thru
Uh, a raised hand to back of the head maybe, how phu king stu pid does one have to be to let that get passed them. And not only her, it went passed a few eyes before she even saw it on the prompter . Awesome news channel , lmfao!! 🤣😂🤣😂
When they say reality is stranger than fiction, it's glorious moments like this that proves why. How the heck did that slip through without anyone thinking "...These names sound very fake"?
@Jibo Da Grey Stop. Low hanging fruit. The real reason is that all news stations are driven by traffic and viewers. In the clamor to get the names of the pilots before anyone else, no one really looked at the names.
My friend had a "Ho Lee Chit" shirt, and we were on an elevator, and an Asian family walked on.. my friend just crossed his arms and sat there awkwardly, but we knew the father had already seen and read it 😂
I went to an all you can eat sushi place with a group of friends to celebrate the birthday of one of them and really fucked up at the end of the night. I turned around and without thinking said "Because it's not in their nature to drop the bomb like that." The entire staff were Japanese immigrants and the woman that was working the till heard me and when I turned around with a look of "oh fuck..." she was staring at me.
The hilarious part of this is they actually reported this twice, and this segment was actually a second take that they recorded for the news… yet NO ONE picked up on the joke
I remember back when this happened, this video kept getting scrubbed from RUclips. Eventually, it kept getting reuploaded, and RUclips stopped caring about taking down the re-ups. :p

Wait... This was an actual plane crash that happened?? Aww, suddenly this ain't so funny anymore. 😣😣
What happened was that the news station asked for the names of the pilots, but for some reason that’s illegal(don’t ask me). So the person who got asked gave them the list of bullshit names which the intern turned in. I’m pretty sure that’s what happened if I am correct
I also love how the names, read in that order, tell the chronological tale of what happened.
Rich, the news channel got pranked with fake names.

I remembered this as well going to school.
Just curious: they _REALIZED_ it was a mistake, right? Did they ever acknowledge it? Lol

"The NTSB has confirmed these are the names of the pilots..." Perfect!

Whoever was in the office that day and let this through, thank you, you are a legend.
if you read news articles tied to this (its been a year so maybe you found out), theres a process to get live news on the air, where things like this are verified, so somebody either didnt do their job right, or the entire chain was in on it, or everyone was so distraught so no one would have ever imagined victims names would be fake so they assumed it was correct and let it thru
