This method may apply to various models by HP i.e.

How to Bypass Use Setup Cartridges Message in HP Printer?
Step 1: Press the back button on the display four times.
Step 2: Click on Support Menu
Step 3: Configuration Menu
Step 4: Trade at OOBE
Step 5: Enable Trade at OOBE and restart your machine
You may find a message "Bypass Use Setup Cartridges" on many HP printers when you buy a printer from a returns lot or from the display outlets with box and original setup accessories, there is a good chance someone returned the printer without setup cartridges. Then, the printer will not work unless you put the SETUP cartridges that came with printer are not installed. Well, this is how to clear that message and let your printer do the printing with standard HP or remanufactured cartridges.
Please note that in rare cases, the Support Menu might not appear, which is not a big issue. Just remove the ink cartridges from printer then restart printer and try pressing return key four times, if that doesn't work install your used or standard ink cartridges and try again.

Could you follow the steps mentioned below-
1. Touch the Home button once, then the Back button twice, then the Home button once.
2. Open the ink cartridge access door, and then close it. A Load Paper message displays on the control panel display, and the printer begins initializing.
3. If the initialization does not begin, repeat steps 1 and 2 until it does.
4. Follow the prompts on the control panel display to complete initialization.

This seems to be a common problem for people who purchase used HP printers. Would really appreciate a video on this specifically for the HP Envy Photo 7855 with easy to follow steps that correspond to the unit in question, So far, every attempt has led to the message still blocking further progress
I purchased mine new from Office Depot two-three years ago. Not used heavily as when I was teaching but relied on it. I had only replaced the cartridges twice in that time. What a rip-off - again.
Solution:
press Home > Back > Back > Home
You’ll have a hard time seeing the buttons but they are on the left hand side of screen. Shine some light to help you see.
@@RandoHandle Thanks for responding, The identity and location of the 'Home' button has been elusive. Have been able to access the reset menu but have gotten no further Very frustrating !.

I’m not sure what I am doing wrong. I went to the exact same settings you showed and pressed OK to enable cut the power and restarted and it still shows non HP cartridges. So I went back and pressed disabled, thinking I heard you incorrect and it still saying the same thing I cannot get past non-HP cartridges.

I read your transcripts and I didn't know if your printer screen was frozen you can tap the black part of the screen 4 times. I went through the steps, with no luck. So I did what you said and installed my old cartridges. I am in the HP Instant Ink program so I was trying to install the cartridges they sent to me.
Installing the old cartridges didn't work because they were empty. I told me there was a problem with the supply(yes, the supply was empty) and I am right back to the beginning. Sigh..

you can use old toner memory chips in new toners, only this is the way to by pass the error message.

I was able to get to the Menu but when I got to the Trade OOBE it was already enabled, I was able to click okay to Disable, clicked okay to enable but the printer did not shut down. I finally did a reset, comes up with add paper, there was paper in the printer then the same issue of needing setup cartridge for new printhead. Unsure if there is another way around or not, these are brand new cartridges in the printer.
Regret to say that there is no another way.

disable trade and restart the printer then enable again and check. Second this method will work only if your printer required setup cartridges.

@@BilalKhalid Thanks. Meanwhile I got help from the HP Customer Support, which was not an easy thing to do, because they hide their phone number. You have to create an account first, then they offer virtual assistance with no use. Very bad customer service. I regret having purchased a HP printer. Finally I had somebody on the phone and they helped me solve the problem.
When you get the message 'Use SETUP cartridges', follow these steps: 1) Insert original HP cartridges and paper. Turn the printer on. 2)Remove the printer from the power supply. Wait a minute and plug it in again 3) press the Home button, then the Return Button twice, Home button again 4) Open the coverage as if you want to change cartridges 5) Wait for 30sec and close it again . If you are lucky the printer starts with the setup and prints the alignment page which you have to scan. Done. Good to know there is a way to bypass the SETUP cartridges. The problem is, if you are not familiar with that printer you will not know where to find the buttons because they are blacked out. They are right on the left of the message, Home button on top , Return button at the bottom. Good luck!

Can I use just one cartridge?
No
I use a HP Photosmart B110a and it doesn't work. I can go into the service menu with:
1. turn off the cable
2. hold the power button
3. turn in the cable
4. wait until LED is blinking white
5. leave the power button
6. press back, home, back, back
7. service menu will appear and I can choose the OOB Reset
But the message still appears after the restart, I just had to choice the language again and all of the stuff after it. I'm using fake cartridges, is this a problem?
Yeah to some extent
I just looked at another video and the hp support wrote sth. about a semi reset, so I entered the menu mentioned above and did that and it worked!

I did the bypass and am trying to install Wiseta ink cartridges on a HP 8028 even after going through your steps and verifying I am getting an error code saying my cartridges have been blocked by the printer firmware because they contain a non-HP chip. Any additional help you can offer?
Update the firmware and try again
@@BilalKhalid Did so, says no new updates available 😞… any other suggestions? Note: I add one cartridge at a time, it registers just fine until I load the final one (4 total) then it shows the non-HP Chip detected error.
@@wiggleworm9828 try to access printer settings thru hp smart app and find ink policy. Second try to insert another ink and check.

I refill the cartridge of 955XL through injecting system same cartridge,it give me message refilling of same cartridges is NOT allowed and ask me to install a new cartridge a supportive HP cartridge help me to reload the existing cartridge through injection system thank you
Regret to say but you can not use existing cartridge. You must get a new one.
