Alexander O'Neal is the most underrated and versatile vocalist (and songwriter) of that era. He had a lot of depth in his writing and actually had some mad chops too. In fact, all of his catalog consists of classics joints. He could stay in the pocket (crooner style) but then when he wants could do some cool and unique vocal runs while not making it obvious that he was trying to SANG!

You know you love it when the lyrics just sink right into your bones and you know each word like you wrote it. Yes, it's the bass, the drums, the mesmerizing melody, every-thang! My man is sanging this song family. I love when says "Looka here." He makes it sound so sweet. I dig the way he looks at his woman when she sits at the bar with that dude.He's talking right to her and when he says "I love you, don't ever break my heart..." I always had an enormous crush on Alexander O’Neal when he was in his prime. That Ebony beautiful skin, tall and so well built. I have his greatest hits. Not 1 is a disappointment for me. However, he and Cherelle did a reunion a couple of years ago. OMG, he didn’t look well at all. I was so hurt. I guess through the years when you have that type of stardom and glamour and you get caught up in the limelight it will either make you or break you down TOTALLY. You’re left with nothing and people have a tendency of not knowing you anymore. I just hope he can get himself together. Alexander O’Neal is 1 of the Best. His music will last forever. 😉
