Why do the so-called experts keep peddling the myth that medication is the first line of defence, and if that doesn’t control things, brain surgery is the next step? WRONG I have left TLE and was on meds for 4 years. I was still having occasional absence seizures so my neurologist said surgery was the next step. A medic friend of mine suggested a keto diet alternative. She reckoned that it should always be the first line of defence, even before meds. I tried keto and it worked, no more absence seizures. After 6 months I tapered off the meds, and have been seizure free for 8 years, except for one 2 week period when I sneaked pizza and biscuits back into my diet Try it, without dropping your meds at first. But be honest, no cheating or it’s pointless. It saved my life.
I've had right temporal lobe epilepsy for 50 yrs. and I had surgery done to reduce the seizures and this is when the Drs. found that the right hippocampus had shrunk and become hard from so many seizures over the yrs. It was removed along with 75% of the right temporal lobe and my memory is much better today than it was before the surgery.
Im currently being evaluated to see if surgery is a possibility for me, have had temp lobe epilepsy for almost 30yrs since i was 10yrs old. Strange enough, the doctors that im under here in the UK are at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London, which is linked with the UCL where this presentation is taking place lol
@@kf8575 Ask your neurosurgeon about getting gamma knife surgery done. It's a same day surgery unless you receive to much radiation. There's no knife involved just high frequency radio waves that wipe out the damage. I wish you the best of luck.
@@jessm1247 they have helped a lot - I still drink them. The lionsmane was a once off - ite really helped my memory, but the lithium ororthate is amazing and I drink it every day. I also drink a half rivotril at night and I stay away from alchohol
@@jessm1247 So I need help on what all of these medicines is. I have TLE too and i hate it man forreal, memory fucked up, had one driving, shit is not safe. I usually have them when people ask about them. The medicine I take SOMEWHAT work... but should I suggest these to my physician?

Having two cameras is cool; having access to the information on the screen would be far cooler 😎
Great presenter!
I have temporal lobe epilepsy in my right temporal lobe and it is very foggy
I’ve had MRIs and sleep deprived / normal awake EEGs. They showed nothing.
Do you have suspected Temporal lobe epilepsy? Or have similar experiences to that of a tle seizure? Get well!
@hafsa2am mtle and had young fever that caused one. Nothing docs do does do anything
I have TLE and lithium orothate suppliments plus lionsmane mushrooms, have helped me tremendously. The normal meds are horrible - urbanol is okay
Really?! Do you have left TLE as I do? And how have those supplements helped you? They help cognitively? Like memory or just everyday life?

@@trevey16 hello can you explains what you feel during and after the seizure ?
So, in conclusion, we're still not sure about anything
Ha, I posted that comment a year ago and have _zero_ recollection of writing it. Much like this one, when I come across it next year. Hello future me!
Good content but unfortunately the Flicking from one camera to the other was setting of my seizures 🤪
Interesting
