i've had epilepsy since i was 5 and it's been a difficult journey. i've dealt with everything from partial seizures, night seizures, to full on grand mal. in other words, it's been a battle. most of my life i've kept it a secret because, like you, it was easy to forget...unless i had a major one. once i got to college, they got worse. i would have them in class, in the lunch hall, skiing, and even in restaurants. a few months ago i was straightening my hair and had a seizure and dropped my flat iron. when i woke up i had third degree burns and had to get surgery. i think it's great people are sharing their journey through epilepsy treatment because it's hard to empathize. people will never understand who don't have it.

Do the night seizures feel like sleep paralysis? I’m wondering if I had internal seizures at a young age a few times. Like one time in class. And then later as a young adult I experienced a trauma and started having sleep paralysis. So curious if it’s similar

      @ Melissa
It is very important for you to stay away from skiing or any amusement park rides as these may be so joyful but later these can cause a serious partial seizure.
Always keep a cold water bottle with you as this is the first liquid which will relieve the pain of a partial seizure.
Keep yourself away from smoking and consuming any chemicals which will affect the brain.
      Be away from chemical factories.
Do not keep the news that you have epilepsy away from your doctor and make sure you don't miss the medication prescribed to you. If you continue to have weakness after having a partial seizure then drink a frappe or something ice blended as this will relieve the pain of a seizure.
Always keep a cold water bottle with you wherever you go especially by your bed as you will need to drink cold water immediately after you are stable enough to drink water.
If you ignore taking care of yourself from the seizures, they will worsen as you age.
It's never too late to start taking care of the seizures.
Good luck and I hope you stay well.

@@kirstiejane8896 I'd like to answer this.
There are a couple of reasons which causes partial seizures.
      1) stress
      2) smoking or consumption of anything that can affect your body and brain
      3) amusement park rides. These may be fun but later these can cause partial seizures
      4) missing meals, sleep and medication
      5) not informing your doctor the exact symptoms which you experience during, before or after having a partial seizure.
Example, feeling stiffness in your body as you have a partial seizure
Advice for you. Always drink a glass of cold water after your seizure. If you still have weakness after having a partial seizure, drink a smoothie or frappe.
Always stay calm after having a partial seizure. Watch a comedy program which will help relieve stress and worries

Hey Annie, if you still check for comments. Hi. I just found your videos and I hope you are well. Everything you said here is so true. I been a long journey and it's so hard to find anyone who really understands what we go through. I've had 2 surgeries for epilepsy. The really frustrating part is ,as the epileptologist explained. I will always be an epileptic. Even if the surgery is a success there will always be a chance it will come back. My surgery was 4 month ago and so far no seizures. My brain is rewiring and other neurological issues have surfaced but just as part of the healing process. It takes a year to get back to what is considered your baseline neuro function levels. But to know it could happen again is tough to deal with. Hope you are well.

Hi Annie. What you explain about the nervous and anxiousness when you get the dejavu is exactly what I get. I understand it so well, and yes, just because it doesn't go into a big or any seizure, it doesn't mean that it is less important. People don't understand this though and they sometimes make me wonder, if what I going through is really so bad. Other epileptics have it so much worse and thank God I don't, but why I am struggling to overcome such 'small' seizures.
My seizures are 100 times better than before and my aura's don't tend to become a bigger seizure.
I do however have a trend where every month for a week, I get up to 15 aura's a day, spread throughout the day. The more aura's I get, the more tired, scared and sick I get. I also usually wake up feeling 'not so good' and knowing, today might be a seizure day. By 3pm in the afternoons after all the aura's, I feel terrible, have a massive headache, am confused and struggle to think and speak. I think these aura's are simple partial seizures and because there are so many in a day, I get really sick and recovery takes extremely long.
Has anyone else exprienced something similar? Aura's not going into bad seizures, but having a number of aura's in a day?
What side effects do you experience with aura's?

Same as you,I have partial seizures and before I get one I dont feel so good and you think is this going to be the day,I am on medication which has helped and now I only get the odd one. Had a seizure today walked through it,went to the cash desk to pay,I had a complete blank, couldn't remember my pin and that was worse than the seizure itself. The tiredness afterwards is awful,I just wanted to lie down and yawning nonstop.

Natasha, yes this is exactly what used to happen with me. I had what I thought were panic attacks, particularly in monthly clusters that lasted about a week. Hard to describe but I would get this overwhelming sense of deja vu, then tingling all over, tunnel vision, then I would usually vomit. Doctor thought they were panic attacks, too, so put me on all sorts of anxiety meds that didn’t help. Then I went backpacking in the mountains at high altitude and had four grand mal seizures. Turns out, I had been anemic due to large fibroids and severe endometriosis, which was exacerbated by the high altitude, which led to the grand mals. I had an emergency hysterectomy and went on Keppra. Four years later, I’ve not had a grand mal or “panic attack” (aka partial seizure) since! We’ve since determined that the monthly spell for about a week of these partial seizures likely occurred in the days leading up to, and the first three or four days of, my period. Go figure! I hope you’re doing well now, a year since you posted your comment!

      Hi Natasha,
I have written a detailed description about the partial seizures below the video. Please read that.
In the partial seizures and weakness you are facing, just drink a glass of cold water immediately after you have had any seizure because this will just calm the brain and body immediately.
If you still feel very weak, drinking something with blended ice is very helpful like a smoothie or a frappe.
This will relax your brain and body and keep you well.
If you eat seafood, a fresh fish meal is helpful and eat greenery vegetables

So glad I found you this has had us stumped and no health insurance. I cried watching your videos about this because for the most part sounds like it. My fiancé has been dealing with this since about his twenties out of no where. It started as just deja vu before that. Now when it happens. He has a full on panic attack (what it looks like) and is sweating a lot and then will go from that to freezing with a few moments and then it happens multiple times. He forgets major events as well. In that moment he forgets everything and spouts out very odd things sometimes. It’s very scary. He’s also uncontrollably coughing and dry heaving/puking. I have to explain to him over and over until he comes out of the episode which last from 15- longer periods of time. He’s also started having incontinence during a few of these which is a new onset. He’s very confused and scared. I’m calling a neurologist after the weekend is up. Thank you and please keep posting! ❤️

I'd like to give you an advice. If you are facing a partial seizure, the best you can do is say a prayer in your mind stay calm and immediately have a cold glass of water. If that doesn't help then have a fruit smoothie or a frappe. This will relax your brain immediately. Sometimes eating a fresh fish meal is a better choice
Partial seizures are quite dangerous if not informed to doctors and taken care of.
It's true - this is not a migraine or a headache. This hurts in a specific spot in the brain very badly

      4) amusement park rides
      5) extra work ( if you have many tasks, don't over tire yourself )

      7) If you have 2 doses, make sure they are exactly 12 hours apart or as your doctor advises

I can feel it coming in my head, like a pressure feeling , so
I relax, and prepare myself to loose control over my body, I lie or sit down otherwise am going to fall, it feels as if am drawing back into my self, i feel like am in the Center of my head while it becomes dark around me. It takes all my energy away while its happening. I feel panicky and scared.
I can feel it in my head at first it’s like a some sort of pressure coming down and consuming me. My brain starts to shut of and I am very sleepy . I get very sleepy and tired when it’s happening. My head falls down to side when am laying down or forward if am sitting up straight, and my eyes close
I start saying prayers in my head because I get anxious.
I can hear things happening around me so am conscious but at the same time I am detached. I can’t talk while it’s happening nor can I respond to anyone or move my body, my body feels limp and weak.. i get a rising feeling in my stomach like when you are in a roller coaster and it’s going down fast, also i get this feeling of nauseousness in my stomach. I start to swallow a lot during it and for abit more after it. It last for about minute and a half max or 15 secs minimum, then I come back again slowly to myself. I feel weak and tired after it.
I feel fine 10 minutes later
When it’s for 15 sec or so less symptoms present themselves and when it longer like a min or so then all the symptoms show.
    Or
Annabelle Lande what is witnessed exactly if you you don’t mind sharing hun x
This is what I experience below
I get a warning that it’s going to happen, the warning feels like am going to blackout.
some sort of sensation comes down from my brain and consumes my head and body.
    It’s very hard to explain
I get a feeling of extreme dread and fear.
I have started to relax now, and prepare myself to loose control over my body, so I lie or sit down, when it is happening.
    (My last one I didn’t have a warning )
The next stage feels as if am drawing back into myself as if am fainting, while my eyes become dark so I close them. Am still aware of what’s happening, I dont loose consciousness. This experience takes all my energy away.
My brain starts to shut of and I get very sleepy and beyond exhausted while it’s happening and afterwards aswell.
My head falls down to side.
I tell my self to be calm and that it will be over soon (in my head) I feel very anxious and fearful during it, a feeling like am about to die. I get a feeling like when your stomach drop when you are on a really fast rollercoaster going downward. It’s aaccompanied with a feeling of nausea.
I start to swallow rapidly during the episode and also a while after it has finished.
I can’t talk while it’s happening nor can I respond to anyone or move my body, and I don’t have the ability to snap out of it
my body feels limp and weak I can’t lift my arms or legs and I can only stare blankly. I don’t have control over my body so
I have to let it run its cause.
As am going more and more into this state, any noises, eg tv, any small talk, cars, radio or whatever else quietens down and for split second I dont hear anything at all but before long they start to pick up the volume again as am coming back to myself.
It lasts for about minute max and 30 secs min
I am aware of everything happening from start to finish
I come back again slowly to my normal self. I feel weak, sleepy and tired after it.

Saying prayers is excellent during this difficult seizure.
It is best to sit down and stay relaxed as you are aware of the seizure or have a seizure.
Always keep a water bottle with you because after your seizure and after you have control of your body, you should drink cold water immediately to relax your brain and body. As you mentioned feeling weak through out the day, you should drink a frappe or something ice blended to further relax your body.
      You should:
eat fish meals and greenery vegetables.
Watch comedy programs to reduce your stress
      Sleep well
      Eat your full day meals
Always keep a water bottle with you.
Keep a 12 hour gap for your medication if you take 2 tablets for the day.
      You should avoid:
Smoking or anything that affects the brain.
Amusement park rides as this can worsen seizures.

Can I ask if anyone here gets episodes where they are vacant, dilated pupils, can’t move or respond, can’t Hold own head up or keep eyes open sometimes, but they are still aware of what’s going on. I can feel them coming but sometimes it leads to nothing. Other days I’m just not right. I’m currently in the process of finding out what’s going on and I’m honestly scared and although I have lots of support I feel very alone. Currently waiting for MRI results. Im 33 they last between 1minute and close to 4 minutes for my biggest one.

I recently decided to start an exercise regime, but after 2 weeks I had a cluster of strong seizures. It took a while for things to calm back down. The trigger is getting puffed for any length of time. It could be as short a time as ten minutes. I can do a bit of yoga, because it doesn't involve heavy breathing.
    It's really frustrating.
Does anyone else have problems with devices like tablets and computer screens, and films with special effects or shaky camera work? I can't watch Eurovision since they started using those floor and background screens, I'm guaranteed to have a seizure.

I've had epilepsy for 7 years now. My seizures aren't that bad. But I do relate to having problem with screens and such. Flashing lights doesn't trigger seizures for me personally but staring at screens does. If I'm too focused on something like for example a digital device I get a seizure. I also have problems in class because of focusing for too long.

Hi I know this video is old and I’m so sorry this is happening to you my sister has been diagnosed with epilepsy and I’m trying to find helpful videos to send to her because I know she’s so scared abs already stressed abs wondering why is this happening.

What symptoms does your sister feel and which sort of epilepsy does she have ?
Partial seizure is when you have severe pain in one part of the brain and you become stiff. This can last anywhere from 5 seconds to 10 seconds or more depending on the health situation.
Is this what she experiences ?

    • @furqaniqbal7223

      Hi,
I hope your sister is doing well.
I would like to share some information which can be helpful.
After she has a seizure, she should drink cold water immediately as this will cool the brain and body immediately.
If she still has weakness, she should drink a frappe or something ice blended as this will further cool the brain and body.
      She should:
      Eat fish and greenery vegetables
      Eat the full day meals
      Get proper sleep
Watch a comedy program to reduce stress
Always keep a water bottle as this is the first liquid to cool the brain after a seizure.
      She should avoid:
Smoking or anything that affects the brain
      Being around Chemical factories
Amusement park rides as this can worsen seizures.
      Over stressing.
      Missing medication.
Ask your sister to talk to her neurologist about a medication called Lamictal or lamotrigine as this medication is more effective to reduce seizures.
      Good luck.

My doctor is currently running a lot of test and looking to rule out MS, neuropathy as well as complex partial seizures. I have read that complex partial seizures can be caused by trauma and I have had so much trauma and have CPTSD. I have dealt with years of mental abuse from my mom as well as an instance of sexual abuse and years of physical abuse from my dad. my dad has told me that they were between five and 10 times where he had punched me in my head putting several blows to my head each time. I have also read that complex partial seizures can be mistaken for the disassociation. I definitely have CPTSD and I recently started with a new trauma therapist and she said my disassociation is very bad I’m wondering if sometimes it can be that I’m having a complex partial seizure and that disassociation is caused by it. It’s just really frustrating because I’m not sure if the symptoms I’m experiencing or mental or physical. It actually would be kind of better if they were a result of my PTSD because I’m already being treated for that.

      Hi Nicholas,
Partial seizures can be caused by trauma which a person has had in the younger age to any age.
The partial seizure which you have is also a result from the abuse which you had.
If your body becomes stiff and your brain is feeling heavy painful pressure on any side of your head means you are going through a partial seizure.
If you can exactly write your symptoms which you have, it will be easier to guide you.
      Example:
      1) Your eyes begin seeing the tube lights very bright to you, even if it's not all that bright
      2) Your body becomes very weak that it's difficult for you to even walk properly
      3) You have difficulty breathing
If you have any of these symptoms, it's very important for you to drink cold water immediately after you have a partial seizure. If your body still feels unwell, it's better for you to drink a blended drink like a smoothie or frappe.
You must always stay calm after you have a partial seizure and make sure your body is stable.
Keep away from chemical factories and consuming anything that can affect your body and brain.

  • @furqaniqbal7223

Can I give an advice to all of you in this chat.
If you are facing a partial seizure, do not ignore this.
The best you can immediately do is read a prayer in your mind and drink a cold glass of water and if that doesn't help, drink a fruit smoothie. I prefer frappe which immediately relaxes my brain because it's an iced drink. This really helps, believe me.
It is extremely important to tell your doctor your situation because in the partial seizure a specific area in the brain will be hurting badly as the brain waves will be bumping to each other and it seems like an electric shock.
This is not a severe headache or a migraine. This is an epilepsy and should not be ignored.
Always take a cold water bottle with you whether you are driving, going for a walk or are suddenly unable to breathe.
If you are driving just go to the lane where cars are moving slower and if needed pull over and park your car on a safe spot so you can relax.
Some things to be aware of which can cause a partial seizure:
    1) Smell of cigarettes and smoking
    2) smell of detergent or any smells related
    3) petrol ( as in factories )
    4) missing a meal
    5) missing dosage
Good luck all of you and I hope you all have good health

Identical symptoms I have. 12 years now caused by brain aneurysm. Feelings of dread and fear.....strange smell...deja vu.....shuddering almost orgasmic total body tension, goose bumps .....nausea.....washed out for a while after. Never lose consciousness or black out. Always aware of what’s going on. The whole things takes about 5 to 10 minutes, then I’m back to normal. Anticonvulsants work up to a point but I have to watch alcohol, stress, fatigue, etc. Side effects of meds aren’t nice.

I would like to add a few points to you.
      You should avoid:

      2) amusement park rides as this can worsen seizures
      3) missing a full day meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner)
      4) being around Chemical factories
      You should:
      1) always keep a cold water bottle with you as this is the first liquid which will relieve your body pain.
      2) drink a frappe or smoothie as this will cool your brain and body
      3) watch a comedy program because this will take away stress
      4) take your medicine on a scheduled time
      5) eat fish as this is a great source of nutrition
You should ask your doctor about a medicine called lamotrigine and Lamictal as this is a great medicine for epilepsy people.

I think you might be describing an aura. Some people have warning signs before a seizure and some don't. An aura helps, because it gives you some time to make yourself safe before the seizure happens, if you need to.
