Hi Barb, thanks for your videos. They have helped in my work. I was wondering if you could help me with figuring out an excel code or feature? I want to auto password protect cells based on color fill. I have found some VBA codes that protect after data entry. However, the staff that will utilize this spreadsheet aren't very experienced with excel. I would like to have a conditional format that will color fill a cell after alphabetic or numeric values are added. Then once the cell is color filled I would like it to be automatically password protected. I specify alphabetic and numeric characters because I expect the staff may accidentally type things like parenthesis, commas, dashes, and characters I don't want. I saw your video with the VBA code that protected cells based on being less than today. So I thought you might be able to help or suggest another option.
This is for archiving banker boxes. I already a column that calculates 10 years from when the box was created. 10 years is our disposal date. However, I don't want staff to go back and edit previously made boxes. But I do want some flexibility for them to correct any typing errors before the spreadsheet is saved or closed.
I have been thinking about this one quite a bit. Let me see what I can come up with
