A good tip I think: Since Tanks are big and easy to shoot, the best time to actually use the ultimate is when the Tank dies and all the low health dps and healers are in front of you. Or from the back , where theyre away from the tank.
The ult is best used to break through a difficult position or to counter an enemy push. Its greatest value comes from being able to almost guarantee kills on supports, destroy junkrat tires, or kill a genji using his ult. The biggest disadvantage is that you only have a small window to use it and many things can prevent you from confirming kills. Supports counter this ult more than tanks do (beat, sleep dart, immortality, etc.) so as long as their tank is not in your face there's no problem unless you're shooting a shield.
I find soldier 76 ult too problematic. It's great, but it only works in certain circumstances. No tank on the enemy team, enemy doesn't have brigitte, genji, moira, and the enemy doesn't have too many people close up which happens alot in overwatch
It's very interesting seeing how Blizzard uniquely perfects each character and their role by how they make their kit. Soldier is definitely built for flanking and off angles with his heal pad and sprint, but specifically how blizzard designed his gun. An automatic mid range hitscan rifle with no bullet spread (like sojourn's gun). It allows securing quick kills at mid range like from a high ground or outside lane but blizzard makes it a little more difficult by adding recoil and becomes weaker at close range compared to enemies with a strong close effective range. Which is why you dont play soldier close range with reapers, junkrats, etc. Also pro tip: when flanking fire your rocket first then shoot. That way you land an accurate rocket shot and 3-4 bullets by the time the rocket hits and they're dead. Otherwise if you shoot first they'll start moving and you'll miss the rocket
Also, notice how soldier's gun does low damage to tanks and shields compared to characters like bastion, sym, junkrat. It takes a very long time to break a shield and kill a tank with soldier's gun. So don't waste your time shooting at big shields and focus more on playing off angles and securing picks on 200hp targets rather than the invincible 600hp horse lady.
I've been playing 76 since the beginning of overwatch. Hear me out, I'm not good, but I'm not bad either. I play casually. But recently I feel that the player base is starting to really knuckle down with this game. Lobby after lobby it gets harder so this video is gonna help a bunch

Soldiers play styles in game are also heavily reliant on your team comp and enemy team comp. If you have a mercy off angling can be one of the most high dps flanks possible and extremely hard to stop. If you are a soldier without a mercy and the enemy is running something like genji and dva off angling is almost a feed cause you’ll receive no peel and have no counter play. Pick your battles safely.

One thing to note is that it's very easy to rack high damage on soldier by shooting tank but that doesn't mean you helped your team if the enemy supports keep up on the healing. Instead use your ranged pressure and mobility to force the enemy backlines into awkward positions then shoot the tank when they break LOS or coordinate with your off dps to get a kill if they challenge. If they hard turn attention to you then swallow your pride and run. Think of yourself as the enabler for your team more than the slayer as you can both sweep up the low hp enemies and also call out the enemy you got low for tracer genji or winston. To play Soldier 76 you must act like a soldier. If you are outnumbered, outgunned, low powered against an enemy such as a tank or a man with a shotgun simply wait for your team or find a way to fight back. Do not act as one man but act as a team.

I lost a competitive Soldier match with 52 kills and over 20k damage because I find teams that don't even know how to play. Soldier is very strong when used well, both at short and medium distances.
Tip that I’ve had success with: if you just want to get a lot of kills with you tac visor then try to get behind the group of enemies and wait for your team to start a big push. It almost kind of squeezes the enemy and does allow you to get a couple of picks.
My tip: If you can't run away run close to the opponent stick your barrel in their chest and fire like mad lol I am not the best by any means but I enjoy being aggressive in the thick of it, getting close and going Rambo, it can be effective at times.

Then the next one depends on if we gain ground- if we dont, I'll put it back where it was. If we do, I will put the mister roughly where their front line is/was. Either the tank can use it to finish taking the space, I'll have it so the healers can focus elsewhere or damage boost me, OR it will be in a good spot for the healers to stick around for longer to heal as we take more space. If I was more accurate, I feel like this would be fairly fool proof (atleast to Plat)

As a solider main myself, the best thing you can do is headshots. If you can stack headshots you can melt any squishy or any tank for that matter. If you have good positioning, use your ult, even if you only get 1 or 2 kills it’s still worth it because of how much you can farm damage and ult percentage.
I really enjoy playing him. I'm on switch with 25 fps and when i first stuck to ashe I wasn't really that good because of my aim and the lag. Also I like playing mercy. Therefore soldier 76 is a great pick for me because of his full auto gun, his aimbot and because I can heal my mates as I would do with mercy as support role. And the recoil gives me more accidental headshots then I can believe
In very difficult team fights where picks are very rare, at masters I like to just either use my ult in some 1v1's / 1v2's in the teamfight area to confirm myself some picks even if it's not always useful, given a good aim, tactical visor can sometimes be a downgrade in aim given you think your unstoppable, don't aim like you normally do, kinda just turn into a Moira but remember you can still get headshots in tacvis. I started off maining Cassidy but since I’m working towards 50 wins to play ranked with him and other friends he told me that Cassidy isn’t that viable so he told me to try out 76. He’s super fun to play and I might main him for ranked games and stick to Cassidy for pubs so this guide is super helpful
When I run soldier, I like to wait before I use my helix rockets until I'm sure that I can hit an enemy, I think that the cooldown is too long for you to wait for midfight. I also find myself doing a lot of damage, but having low kills and I think this is because I don't target single enemies.
The best tip I can give is always know how to dodge if you get in a 1v1 with an enemy. Most people you can dodge pretty easily if you quickly and autistically go left and right really fast.
Orisa is very oppressive with her rotating kit. She has Fortify and Javelin Spin to neutralize a lot of damage. Having a Zen Discord with Soldier 76 can melt a tank in no time.
You can rocket jump into alot of sneaky spots too with helix rockets. hanimura Defense with soldier on top of roof is pretty nazty.. nastier then a turtled out torb.
In OverWatch one I got really good at playing him and I felt like I was a pro like It felt good being able to finally play good, I got almost 30 eliminations almost every game and I was playing him really good, it was awesome, I felt like a badass. But it OverWatch 2 I now suck and I feel like they made the controls on him more sensitive at least it feels that way on console, (I've always played console, still do) and even if I turn the sensitivities all the way down he still feels really sensitive moving the right joystick and it's hard to get good aiming, precision, and tracking with him. is that just me or does anyone else feel that difference in his character?? Please tell me I'm not the only one that noticed these small differences and now sucks because of them
No rocket jump tips and I disagree w the front line soldier playstyle, soldier should have the biggest angle possible on the fight finding places to get shots in at off angles
First game playing soldier I dropped 42 with 15k, pretty simple character with an easy recoil pattern even for controller and his heal is super useful in a pinch. Previously mained widow, ashe, bastion and mercy/Moira for pocketing if my team needs it or if I get support
tip: When you are using your ult try not to lock on tank who is being healed by supports because you will waste your ult and deal nothing. instead try focusing on dps and supports
I’ve always played casually and Soldier has been my bread and butter. I’ve been called out for carrying my team as soldier and I feel like I do most of the healing sometimes 😂 Can’t wait to get into comp
As a player with GM potential, i learn quick. I will try to make a smurf account and implement all of your tips. Could be a fun project. I been a Top500 tank and even a GM DPS,but i always felt like i was missing something. Thanks for the video!
When I flank widow I rocket 🚀 but don't shoot until the rocket is about to hit so the rocket and bullets hit close enough that she doesn't avoid the rocket or bullets

Thx this helped alot
The best tip I can give is always know how to dodge if you get in a 1v1 with an enemy. Most people you can dodge pretty easily if you quickly and autistically go left and right really fast.
But can you explain why hitting about 80% of my shots still results in not killing the orisa?
Don't shoot the 🐴
Orisa is very oppressive with her rotating kit.
You could add „when to switch off soldier?“
what is your crosshair I hate the one I have and can't make a good one
POV i play soldier: It's over Winston I have the high ground
Please tell me I'm not the only one that noticed these small differences and now sucks because of them
I’m a new player and I have been going off with soldier
I can help you. I have 38% acc with him and i play him since yesterday. I send you my settings. ( i have 70% aim with moira with this Settings)
@@BenutzernameXY oh cool, what are all your settings for him??
started this game today thank you!
How’s it going for you ? Been learning the game myself
@@Bertswrld I switched to Mercy. Figured I let other people shoot while I frantically heal the lads.
@@SirThanksAlot9000 fair enough. Just keep grinding and trying hard to achieve what you want.
whats the crosshair settings?
What crossair is that
No rocket jump tips and I disagree w the front line soldier playstyle, soldier should have the biggest angle possible on the fight finding places to get shots in at off angles
After the tracer nerf and soujourn not feeling that fun anymore I’m going to soldier for hitscan
First game playing soldier I dropped 42 with 15k, pretty simple character with an easy recoil pattern even for controller and his heal is super useful in a pinch. Previously mained widow, ashe, bastion and mercy/Moira for pocketing if my team needs it or if I get support
Please solgier settings for Xbox
I swear helx rockets track when you hit your ult I killed a lifeweaver around a corner with them earlier today
tip: When you are using your ult try not to lock on tank who is being healed by supports because you will waste your ult and deal nothing. instead try focusing on dps and supports
Tbh I've been using him Passively just trying to get as much damage delt to the enemy team as possible
Do you have a how to be a perfect zenyatta?
I’ve always played casually and Soldier has been my bread and butter. I’ve been called out for carrying my team as soldier and I feel like I do most of the healing sometimes 😂
Can’t wait to get into comp
i just aim and click, thanks for the tips
Just started playing 76 I played mcree for a bit didn’t like it but I love 76 healing for payloads
you really help me thx
As a hybrid player who plays literally every role i think im good on playing tank
I did more healing than our Moira a few games ago… good times.
Anakin be yes I've learned from my master.
As a player with GM potential, i learn quick. I will try to make a smurf account and implement all of your tips. Could be a fun project. I been a Top500 tank and even a GM DPS,but i always felt like i was missing something. Thanks for the video!
What is your best game with soldier because I just had my best game ever with soldier with 50 kills and 17k damage in a gold lobby
So i see in this video how to you change your crossair ?
My favorite strategy is pressing F and running in blindly to die
I just recently downloaded overwatch and im already plat idk if that is good or not because i only have 40 hours on the game
The best tip I can give is to master the flanking. That is pretty much it.
Pretty good guide except i feel like rocket jumps could have been included in this.
best guide ever that have useful fact
If you want to get multiple kills using the ultimate you have to avoid tanks and characters that have a shield.
I shut down a pharah so much as 76 she left in the middle of a comp game
Wait theres a guide for soldier?
When I flank widow I rocket 🚀 but don't shoot until the rocket is about to hit so the rocket and bullets hit close enough that she doesn't avoid the rocket or bullets
He’s so handsome with the beard.
Warzone movement on soldier 76 is a way to go 😂
As a bronze soldier main, we use our visor just because we can't aim at pharah
Tip aim for the head shots
There’s damage fall off to his Ult… I feel stupid for not knowing that.
If there was a good soldier and mercy it’s gg
