Nice vlog - stumbled onto your channel all the way from Seattle. India is one of my favorite countries. Love Mumbai. Fun fact. Mr Tata one of the founders of the Tata conglomerate was refused entry into a hotel that catered solely to Europeans. He then built the Taj Mahal hotel as a landmark hotel that would be open to everyone. Soon after it opened it quickly become the premier hotel in Bombay as it was then known.

Its a true all round Indian brand of Colas that competes with Pepsi and Coke for the market shares. In 1996 it was bought over the Coca Cola company and Thums Up since then belongs to Coke.
I loved the way you said after your visit to the Taj Hotel... "It's a lit bit out of our price range 'at the moment'.." That shows there is hope and confidence maybe that one day... some day you can return and afford the price range. Loved the way you put it.

In India, there are incredibly beautiful and stunning places like Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Lakshadweep Islands. Such a great place, it's so funny how the locals say lovely jubbly, I had to try and explain to someone what it means, and another said "sounds like a pound" haha. Have a great time guys.
The paint on the tree base are to safeguard against fungal diseases and potential pest attacks. Also those are not any normal paints. It is actually thin coat of white lime (calcium hydroxide) and red geru (sinopia or red ochre powder)
In the trees all over India, the red and white paint is meant to symbolize purity and divinity, and is believed to help protect the tree from harm. Additionally, painting the trees can also serve as a way to mark them and prevent them from being cut down or damaged. Also in India most of the trees exceed the limits of the pavement and the barks and roots sometimes protrude into the roads.. since white is better seen at night's white is used... and red and black are easier visualized in the day.

Coca Cola used to be sold in India, but in the 70s the government went a bit protectionist and made them pull out of the market. In their absence some local cola formulations were made and sold. Hey Dunn and Beth, I accidentally came across this video last night (it was a good accident, I must say), and I saw that you guys are a bit confused about Thums Up beverage. Let me clarify that confusion; I don't know whether I am the first one or not because this video is 12 days old. Prior to 1979, Coca-Cola was very much present in India, but after the imposition of an emergency in 1975 people of India chose a socialist government in 1979, and the then minister George Fernandez chose to kick out Coca-Cola from India as he was against foreign companies in general. Now to fill up the vacuum, Parle Products started three colas in India Thums Up (similar to cocacola), Gold Spot(orange-based) and Limca (lemon-based). Many years later they also introduced Maza (mango-based) and Sprite (barley water-based). Maza became my favourite, and still it is. Regarding Thums Up, the taste was too strong, and it was marketed as Indian taste or, in other words, stronger than Coca-Cola or Pepsi. In 1992 when India opened its gates to foreign countries, first Pepsi and later Cocacola made their reentries. They had to fight with local brands like Thums Up, Gold Spot, and Limca. After a few years, the Coca-Cola company took a major share in the same Parle Products, which became the alternative to Coca-Cola in the late 1970s. But just recently, if I am not wrong, Parle Products was completely taken over by the Coca-Cola company. Thums up, as you said, you both liked the taste in the video is still sold by the Coca-Cola company. Personally, I never preferred colas, but instead, I prefer orange and mango-based beverages. I am sure you are/have enjoying/enjoyed the hospitalities available in my India. Cheers!
thums up ! in 1977, coca cola was asked to form a company in india with not more than 40 % foreign ownership - they refused and were asked to pack up and leave ! campa cola, 77, thums up came up as an indian alternatives and were a huge success coca cola ultimately did what was asked and they started making/bottling and selling again in 1993
The Taj is the best hotel in the world , one time when I was 9 years old my fathers car broke down 150 miles from Mumbai , a phone call was made to the Taj hotel and they sent a car with a driver to pick up our family , no cost to my father , ever since that day , each time my father was in Mumbai he would stay at the Taj, When my father had passed away they got to know and sent flowers for my mother, they are the best and if you can, just try and stay once. thank you Taj ...
About that tree, people are commenting about fungus and all which don't but what i know is that those trees with white brown colors are public property you can't chop them off by any mean if someone do so he/she have to face legal consequences. They are are under forest ministry.
Thank you Both for your fun and very enjoyable video...The highlight for me seeing those balloon sellers still selling those stupid large things that they've been trying to sell for over 20 years !! And still it seems no one wants them...Poor folk....I So want to go back there to my all-time fave city...So glad you have enjoyed it and Happy Travels to you....

Haha thanks my friend 🙌🏼 we loved it too!
Thums up is a sub brand of the coca cola company. If you choose cola in india then you will get coke and thums up from coca cola brand. On the other side you get only pepsi from pepsi brand
