My brain had a real hard time thinking of the little boy cat as "Bears" and the dog, who looks like a bear, as "Belle". I had to watch it twice. So sweet!! I'm glad these 2 have each other. 🥰

We brought a Saint Bernard puppy home and our cantankerous, grumpy two year old cat name Loki fell in love with Sampson our Saint. She barely tolerated humans and held everyone in contempt. Except Sam. He was HER puppy, even when he grew to over 150 lbs.
Saint Bernard's are the best dogs. They are so smart and extremely sweet by nature. You can't go wrong with a big ol Saint Bernard. I miss mine, his name was PUPPY. I will forever miss him.

I've heard Newfs are one of the best dogs for getting along with all kinds of other animals including livestock, poultry, and small pets like rabbits and rats. These two are so sweet 🖤

I hate being pessimistic but man, knowing that Bears will realistically outlive her breaks my heart (indoor cats having a average lifespan of about 15 years+, while newfoundlands are about 8-10) I just want these 2 to be together forever
indoor cats have a life span of 10-12 years? I think you are wrong, they definitevelly live at least 15 years if healthy and moderately well cared , they could easily live more than 17 years , however you are right about the newfoundland dog, their average life span is way shorter than a cat. But better to love and lost than never having loved at all.
Don't know what kind of cats you have had, but indoor cats live much longer than 10-12 years. Mine have lived from 18 to 20 years old. The cat could realistically outlive the dog by a decade.

My outdoor cat lived up to 19 years, I think because they’re usually “bastards” or not bread, they live much longer

I have owned a Newf (which this is), a Great Pyr and a Neapolitan Mastiff. Obviously a big dog person.

I love all dogs, but always liked big dogs since my parents' friends raised Irish Wolfhounds. Over the years as I get older my dogs have gotten smaller and smaller (I want to make sure if I'm hiking and my dog is injured that I can still carry them home!). Right now I have a 45 pound beagle / husky mix who thinks he's a big dog. When we go to the dog park he gravitates to them immediately!

A big part of being friends is understanding each other's body language and social cues. I think Belle picked up a lot of cat language as a pup which really helped them get along.
