Bittersweet but it’s good to hear from Neil that he found it hard to go on as a band without Paul. Speaking about vulnerabilities and feelings can only heal us all. Rip Paul❤️
Without a doubt, this was THE best version of the band. With the addition of occasionally augmenting Tim into special appearances, They were truly the finest pop band of the late 80s, early 90s with a timeless repertoire that still sounds fresh today. They were the Australian Beatles. It was nice to hear Neil's emotions about Paul's death. Now, if he tapped those emotions, and carried into the studio with Paul's spirit, he might yet write another great, latter-day Crowded House masterpiece. I believe in him that he has something great that he still hasn't tapped into yet. Out Of Silence and Everyone is Here, as well as brushes with brilliance in the 5th and 6th albums, leads me to believe he has another Woodface or Together Alone in him. 🙏
Seen Neil Finn about 20 times... I took my 5 year old daughter to see the Finn Brother's at The Royal Albert Hall, it was 2 days after the tragic news of Paul Hester taking his own life. They played our gig with a tribute snare drum on stage and Nick Seymore joining them on stage. The following day's gig was cancelled. It was the first gig my daughter went to and she's now a massive gig goer, I took both my children and my mum to Thetford Forest to see the reunited Crowded House. My kids have great taste in music now and it's about time I saw them again. Chills down the spine.
Unprecedented and phenomenally amazing 😍 I'll never forget you checking in, whilst Boris B needed a lift key. To put it nicely 😂. You both had humble patience that was exemplary to witness. And what an amazing moment of stark contrast, between successful guest's.
An old mate of Mine (RIP Richard) used to sing “you always take the Weber with you!” Which made more sense really. I mean, you do take the BBQ with you don’t you!
Completely and utterly disagree. Every album shows the progression of the artists. Things will never be the same without Paul, but isn't that life? Wasn't that Neil's message? Rest in love Paul🌠
@@anniem.2303 That's fair but I think those records also testify the energy and spontenaeity Paul brought to the band. FYI - I have seen the band three times (twice with Sherrod, once with Elroy. They're still a performing force and, out of the three records, there's only one I dislike. But a part of me can't help it feel Crowded House exists more in name than in essence, especially without Mark.
@@debonaire_nerd The post-Paul albums have indeed been pretty poor. That says more about a decline in Neil’s song writing than Paul’s contribution. Try Whistling This has its moments but overall there was a sharp downturn in quality since Together Alone. Sadly , it happens to the very best of them (of which Finn is one).
I just saw them in Boston and they rocked it! Liam's energy and spontaneity blew me away. Neil was as generous as ever with audience given that it was last night of a long drawn-out tour since Covid. Since we can't go back in time just appreciate what today brings🙏

Watched this live on TV at the time - it was fabulous!
Wish I had been there...what a show! What an audience!
Thanks for this. RIP Hessy.
I was there and it was magic.
Just discovered this. Can't wait to watch it as I was a huge fan at this time.

Thanks for sharing guys.
I was there but left when the Crowdies started. Too much chaos. Took me ages to get thru the crowd (I'm a short guy) Amazing atmosphere. RIP Paul.
I bet you bloody wished you stayed though?
@@ChristopherLightfoot-zu3kb No, too many people. It was a nightmare. I’m glad I experienced it though.
Will probably never happen again. This year they did it again!
I was there. It was my birthday. Magical.
Paul Hester - an honorary Kiwi forever. He is still adored as if one of our own over here in NZ.
The pain on Paul's face at the end of don't dream
They didn’t even talk about Mark Hart. I’m upset about that.
Neil smashed that Maton 1995 acoustic guitar, on his Try Whistling This tour in a gig in Melbourne on the 12/12/98, there’s a video on RUclips. 😢
A lot of people are actually there for Paul Hester, and/or Nick Seymour.
I wonder, if that after party dude wonders what absolutely highlight life’s moment he just experienced in that van after the gig
RIP paul
Was like the Australian version of The Beatles farewell ❤
Nobody hurt because you calmed them down hehehe thank God
Good interviews. Sad.

To be honest Neil Finn is going to be the next Paul McCartney’s foot steps
Who knew how ill Paul was, I look at this ending and wonder if they would of changed their thinking
"..there was something not quite good about the way we sounded."
Agreed, Neil.
That's why there shouldn't have been a fifth, sixth, or seventh album.
