      Why was it poor, historically? Low on nature resources?

    • @Bluewizard7131
      @Bluewizard7131 3 года назад +4

      @@herrbonk3635 It is a very rural area, and there are not many resources. The closest cities with decent (average) jobs are an hour or more drive each way. Historically, there were lots of farmers here, but that has been taken away by large corporations. Where I live it's an hour round trip to the nearest decent grocery. People stay here because many were born here and they love the mountains and the scenery. It's more complex than that, but that is a brief overview.

      Didn't know they did a film about it..but its well known this was autobiographical..she grew up really dirt poor money wise..but rich in love.. i am working class and had a wonderful childhood.
      Money was tight yes and as the youngest I wore the hand me downs from my sisters but god we were millionaires in love and care.. i have a friend who was the opposite..its funny untill you speak to others you think they had the wonderful childhood you did then you realise how lucky you are..I have now lost both my wonderful loving parents..my wonderful dad when i was only 19..as a daddy's girl it was devastating..at the end of my funeral I'm having dance with my father played becsuse thats what he used to do..he was American too..my mom was Welsh they met on a blind date in November 43 as dad was over here🇬🇧 doing training.. they got married in Feb 44
      With a 3 day honeymoon..then dad went back to barracks and landed on Omaha beach on the DDay landings ..my strong matriarch mom lost her battle with alzheimer's in 2003..i had looked after her for 7 yrs.. my friends mom is still alive but quite poorly..the only thing she thinks about is what she's going to do with all the money she's going to have.. me on the other hand would give everything i had just for one more good day with my parents..i know how lucky I was..but it maked the loss harder 🐾🇬🇧💞🙏

Dollys dad never learned to read, because he had to work the farm and couldnt go to school. Dollys family grew up with love and music and thats priceless. I love these songs where we know what's coming up in the lyrics, 'cause we've heard the song before, but you don't, 'cause the goodness of your heart comes through every time you hear a line that grabs your attention. From this one, when you heard that the kids laughed at her, to the line in Janice Ian's "At Seventeen," when the girl was the last one chosen for sides on a basketball team, and you literally winced, 'cause you KNOW how that must feel. You truly listen to these songs; the words. And you feel them deeply. That's the reason we love your channel, Jay. You have such a good heart, and even though you don't necessarily mean for it to, it shines out so obviously through these reactions. You're a good young man.

      Dolly’s original coat is long gone. Neither she nor her mother knew for certain what happened to it. They assumed it was passed down till it wore out or taken apart & repurposed. After the success of the song, Dolly's mother made a "near duplicate" (to the best of her memory), which is on display at Dollywood (along with a fancier version from the movie). There is a stylized pic of the original coat on the Coat of Many Colors album cover, presumably done from the school pic Dolly had take in it, but she said the actual pic only shows the upper area.

    Dolly came from a family with 12 children and was raised in a house with no running water or a indoor toilet. Her father worked almost dawn to dusk to feed his kids.

    Just a shout out to her guitar: she learned where many of her generation learned: the front porch.

    Brings tears doesn’t it? One of America’s best storytellers. I’m gonna share on Twitter, maybe she’ll see It. She deserves to hear this.

    My mother and father used to joke about how poor they were as kids. Once my father said we all had holes in our shoes! My mothers reply was " You had shoes?" lol They said childhood was hell but it gave them appreciation for anything they had.

    Dolly is my cousin through my daddy's side. She was raised by very loving parents, they were incredibly poor just as we were. Life in the smoky mountains of eastern tennessee and western north carolina was hard, it got very cold in the winter. We were teased badly, but momma did her best, she made our clothes and washed by hand. We had music and church and of you were a lucky one, you got to go all the way through school. Now days certain areas are called mountain ghettos.

    I loved the story about your aunt. Sometimes growing up with hardships can make a person mean, but often it softens a person's heart and makes them want to be kind and generous. It sounds like your aunt is that sort!

    They had a 3-room house for a family of 12, no running water or electricity. The girls had to put up a curtain in order to bathe on specific times when the males were out of the house. Her joke was "We washed up as far as possible before we could use the tub behind the curtain, and when the males were gone we washed "possible."

    This is a true story. Dolly grew up extremely poor in the mountains of Sevier County in east Tennessee. I live about 20 miles from where she grew up. Her family was full of love❤

    Sir, you've just earned yourself a new subscriber! 👏👏👏 I've watched quite a few of your reactions and they're always right on point! 👏 Dolly has it all - lyrical genius, gorgeous pure voice, a great sense of humour, beauty and brains, yet despite 50+yrs of fame, she has remained humble and incredibly kind 💖 She stayed true to her roots - grew up dirt poor in a shack in Tennessee. She's an astute business woman but has always used her fame to help others - check out her charity 'Imagination Library' - she gives millions of books a year to disadvantaged kids worldwide. She wrote ‘Jolene’ & 'I Will Always Love You' on the same day! Just amazingly talented. Listen to '9 to 5' (theme tune of the movie she starred in): ruclips.net/video/UbxUSsFXYo4/видео.html - it's an upbeat Dolly masterpiece!
