I am a fan of Emmanuelle Caplette and have followed her on YT for quite awhile now. She is so focused on technique and so happy to teach to others. I sped this video up to 1.25 as the tune almost begs to be a bit more uptempo. Try it.

brianmann01 I’m not a giant fan of her kit playing--. I’m not saying she’s bad,,, there are just so many others who are SO innovative--. However- as a technician I think she’s amazing,,, the two snare solo’s she’s posted FlOOR ME COMPLETEly--- I’ve never seen ANYONE play singles as fast or as cleanly as she does and at a very early age-- you know she worked SO Hard to be able to do that. Wonderful --. 10000 % effort with this woman. HUge dedication.

Aside from the nice sounding drums and the interesting music selection, her technique is really good. The fluidity of her motion is great and the fulcrum/finger control of her strokes is textbook. What is perhaps the most impressive is her seamless integration of that technique with sublime creativity and feel. I was looking at videos for the Sonor AQ2 series and have found a new talent to check out.
From what I have seen in some videos a while back, she is or was a marching drummer. Her technique is top notch but as you say, she has a really nice flow from her upper body that just grooves nicely!
Absolutely! I came here to hear the kit, and I found someone new to follow on Spotify. Man, I love music, and all that’s out there to absorb.
Came across Emanuelle some years ago & one listen to her & if you love Jazz Fusion or just fine drum work it's easy to see & hear just how good she is & i am a guitar player not a drummer but without them we don't rock as we should . What a fine player she is & she just gets better all the time . Killer musician hands down !!!!

Love the creativity of her fills. Her different "beats" throughout the song seem well thought out in an orchestral type way. Reminds me of the Mad Hatter album.

There are three drummers I wish had a ton more videos on RUclips (or anywhere): Chris Coleman, Tommy Igoe, and Emmanuelle Caplette. I love the precision and consistency of her hand motions.

This song is from Antoine Fafard, album -Occultus tramitis 2013, and the original drummer in the song is Gavin Harrison. Emmanuelle is on the album too.
That solo was sketchy at the end, she tried to copy the original notes - id rather listen to her own ideas but.... nevermind, its about the drums! :)))
Marek Plesnic i’d say she pulled the solo off alright, but then i haven’t heard the original track. thanks for naming it, though. i will check the album out soon.
i do agree, though-generally prefer to hear the player’s interpretation versus a note for note take, at least for pieces with this much room

Can you confirm that she is using 16" or 18" Kick in this video? and would also love to know the heads used, both top and bottom. I really like the sound of this kit, very full for those sizes, so would like to replicate with sizes and heads.
It's the "Safari" setup (www.sonor.com/instruments/drums/aq2-series/aq2-safari-set/) with an additional 14" floor tom. Emmanuelle uses Evans EC2S clear double ply heads on the toms on the batter side. On the resonant side it's Evans clear single ply heads. Not sure about the bass drum, though...
I'm pretty sure its 16in kick, I have same set up without 14in floor tom, and it looks as same.
How is Emmanuelle getting that kick so punchy being a 16inch, can you advise what heads or muffling she is using please?.

Versatile kit. Got one, sound guy loves playing with different ways to mix an in several tunings. Not SQ2, but I'm not married to a banker,eh?

I don't know if it's called compression or part of the eq'ing, but these would have been better represented with overhead mikes or less of all the eq stuff.
Emmanuelle plays everything with such taste and style. She had not let me down yet. I have never seen this clip before. I am not liking something here. I have never heard of Antoine Fafard. I assume he is a violin player, but he sound so much like Jerry Goodman that I have mixed feeling about his playing. I must check into this.

This was excellent. The track has a heavy Jerry Goodman/Vertu vibe. Almost sounds as though it could be either of the above. Not a fan of the tom sound - too dead for my taste - but the AQ2s are great drums.
Its because she use Evans heads, put some Remo Ambassadors on it and it will sound fantastic!
The thinner Ambassadors would definitely be an improvement. Especially on the 10” tom.

I've noticed she's trying to be taken more seriously as a drummer over the last year or so by not wearing makeup, putting on clothes that hide her curves, not doing up her hair, and not smiling suggestively at the camera while she plays anymore. But I promise I still took you seriously as a drummer before, Emmanuelle. Go back to the sexy look. LOL. (just kidding, she is a great drummer.)
