_David,_ With or without belief in a god, people feel euphoric. It's not like you have evidence a god exists or (less important because it wouldn't indicate whether a god exists) that people feel more euphoric with god than without. Also you seemed to ignore his "answers". After all, _he never answers the question._ 1. His first answer (none of your business) avoids answering and he even admits it. 2. His second answer isn't about belief. He asks 'depends on what you mean by belief', but then he talks about _saying_ something is true or _acting_ whether it's true. Neither are belief. Belief is _thinking_ something is true! So he avoids answering there too. Honestly I was surprised the channel's owner titled the video this way and then used that clip (which I was already familiar with and doesn't really provide a reason for following god. It doesn't even provide a reason to _believe_ in a god!
I'd like to comment that God is good, God is great, always on time, and never late. I wish we had more God fearing influencers in our society. Thank you Jordan for sharing some of your knowledge and wisdom.
Well this goes into "Faith and Works" you can't earn your salvation by your actions. But you sure can lose it. So works jointed at the hip with faith is the ticket.
@@CedanyTheAlaskan amen. Faith in the Greek sense which is "pistis" is closely tied to a convictional faith, which is action. Even closer to what Jesus spoke himself is "emuna" which is an action oriented word which would mean "belief which is supported" like works. So, like many translational thing with the Bible, things kind of got overlooked and people ran with it.
I think Petersons point is that we that claim to be followers of Christ should challenge ourselves by not simply answering “do you believe in god” in such a light manner but to reflect on whether our words match our actions. God may forgive us over & over again because god is merciful no matter how many times we mess up but only if your intentions are true. What is a person that claims to be Christian but with an evil heart repeatedly hurts others? Don’t claim to believe in & care about God if you are not trying to follow the virtuous path. I think that’s what he meant.

Jordan mentions whether “people” are happy with his answer, but I think this is beside the point. God wants a personal relationship with us, so we can’t look to others for confirmation or affirmation on this front.
With all respect, Dr. Peterson, I wonder if you have thought about how amazing your mind is and how that came to be. I believe you were created by a God who wants to be in real relationship with you. He put a drive and a longing in you to search Him out and try to understand. I was 70 before I began to understand it. And beginning a real relationship with Him is not really scary, as you seem to be struggling with. Once you really try to connect and ask Him into your life, something strange happens. He begins to change you from within. I really have had no part in how He has transformed me over the last six years. I just asked Him to show me and He has gradually changed what I'm interested in, what brings me pleasure and fulfillment, how to find peace and joy and trust. I don't have to live a perfect life. He loves me just the way I am; but I am being changed little by little to be more like Him. For me, it's not about religion. It's about talking with Him, studying the Bible, and finding gratitude in everything I see around me. I'm praying for you. ❤ He's real...and his "yoke is easy" (Matthew 11:28-30).

I have great admiration for Doctor Peterson's work, and the impact he has made on my life and the life of countless others. I continue to be deeply moved by the passion and scincerity of this discourse. This expresses a view I often held, but never quite articulated it in such a manner. However I am not absolved from my striving and aspiring to reconcile my belief with the commensurate behaviours.

I think Peterson just gave a sermon on this Bible verse. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
That verse is used by violators criminal that tried to murder me or make me suicide that's real. Criminals use it on people that are in God that were violated by criminals . The violations have to be criminalised. They can be surely saved by grace not by works or they will get hell by God.
You know what? You can be right. I am his shrink of many years and I try to imagine what the hell is going on in his poor head. But you can be right. He is giving a sermon in his head. You cane on to something.

Wonderful, profound wisdom! Our beliefs instruct our behaviors and our behaviors reflect our beliefs, instinctively, to a restrained degree. I've pondered and wrestled with this matter for years. The answer will come at judgement (and it won't be my call). I let God know that I believe poorly, asking Him to heal my disbelief, and want Him to make/let me become a better reflection of His Son, Jesus. This is one of my ongoing prayers. The Divine physician uses a double edged knife, His work is beautiful and terrible simultaneously. Thanks Jordan God bless and keep you and your family
Very well said. I find myself in exactly that same place. I know I believe, deep down, but there are times when what I DO don't really exhibit true belief. Other times, I do things that only a true believer COULD do. The flesh and the Spirit are ALWAYS at odds. Then, He brings me back to: Christ IN you, the hope of glory. His abiding in me and I in Him is the only real Relationship that matters. Sometimes it is very apparent, and other times it's just not.
The problem with the Indo-European religious ideals is that it sets the "one" as unquestionably righteous and absolute. To reach to the sky for Imperium. The "divine" act of self-sacrifice. It has created untold violence throughout human history.
@@Lycurgus1982 "IT" hasn't "created" anything. Peoples' hate for each other did. NOT ONE BIT of which had ANYTHING to do with True Christianity. I hope you can see that those very people, which the world is full of, murdered Jesus Christ out of their own hatred towards the "Divine".
They also estrange you from yourself and they just want more, there is no need to actually believe in anything.... you could just process reality and still become a divine being.
People I know are curious to what I listen to so intensely but you know well here I am as Jordan is still bringing out the best in me and I pray he hears my appreciation.
The issue is not with the belief but the limitations with what qualifies as belief and what defines "God" to each of us. That said it's good to ask and question these things for they are very serious things. Does one need perfection in words and deeds to believe or is the consistent attempt enough? Who gets to define "enough."
Ill just say this without my faith my active ongoing belief in my God I would probably be dead. Years ago my thoughts mixed with guilt and shame were torturing me. I was having thoughts of suicide because the things I would think of despite every effort to stop were coming like waves upon land wearing me down. I remember thinking am I a bad person? At this point I was almost going to give up I was almost there. And I heard a voice in my head reasonable matter of fact which simply said no. That’s it. And I was in shock total shock because it wasn’t my thought. It wasn’t my self conscious that answered it was foreign if that makes sense. The answer to my question didn’t come from me! To this day I believe I was blessed to hear someone good someone steady if that makes sense. I believe my Lord spoke to me that day. A simple word but it was enough to save me. To not give up. And I will always be thankful.
I too had problems with guilt. My prayers were filled with pleas for mercy and forgiveness. One day in my mind God said "Worship me". The depth of the meaning stunned me. From that day my prayers are filled with thanksgiving. I learned that focusing on God instead of my failures healed me and brought me closer to Him. Thank you for your comment, I think your words will help someone.
God has spoken to me in my dream (telling me I had to have another child and it would be a boy, because my daughter needed her brother). He has also used my mouth to speak words that I never thought of and didn't vocalize ...my mouth was saying what my mind thought (my mouth moved to say my thoughts), but the words that came out of my mouth (sound) were something else. And when my ears heard something else that what my mouth was trying to vocalize, I was shook! Then I immediately realized that God made my voice say something else. My mind was filled with KNOWING that God spoke through me.
@@IsraelCountryCube If you had a good reason to believe a god existed, do you think your response would've been different? For example sometimes I see people doubt evolution, and I point them to where hundreds of scientific papers worth of evidence can be found. _Not once_ have I accused them of playing video games. In fact I almost never even change topics to discuss what their alternate view probably is (creationism). Why would I do that when the strongest argument for my position is the evidence? Well that's what truth is like: you can stay on topic and present the evidence. Yet weirdly I haven't found a theist yet who could present strong, logical evidence. (Some manage the "stay on topic" part at least!)
I just want to add to this. We follow people on social media, or we have our favorite friends, family or loved ones in person. We ought to make efforts to ourselves to show ourselves, we are following God. We can do this through daily prayers, devotionals, group meetings, etc. I think it's important to level up our following too, with God, and make efforts to understand the principles we can grow in, to strengthen our effectiveness in being a follower of God and having impact on those that may not know Him.
It's a false reflection of yourself characterized by something you cannot fully understand nor comprehend and was never meant to. Religion is man-made.
@@paradoxartworks Why didn't you just _provide evidence of a god?_ * You provided an interpretation of an experience. Meaning: you didn't even prove "an entity" was involved. * Even if you'd proven that, why would "an entity" indicate a god at all? (To be clear, religion is belief/worship of a god, so when you're considering whether religions are just man-made everything revolves around whether you have reasonable evidence of a god or not.) Do you find it _at all weird_ that the most common moments believers cite for experiences of god involve brains functioning at their worst? * the barely-awake brain of your example * NDEs involving dying brains * DMT experiences * deathbed conversions where the person is at their most desperate and irrational _I don't think it's weird, personally._ But well...I don't believe in a god (due to the lack of evidence) so to me it's just logical that believers would desperately grasp at whatever "evidence" they could find, and just conveniently ignore the fact that all these moments involve malfunctioning or irrational brains. But _to you it should be REALLY weird!_ Because if the idea "god(s) exist" is true and we actually knew it was true, you'd have good evidence. Strong evidence. You wouldn't be relying on flimsy experiences like the one you described.
You can't record the supernatural. You can't just get it on video, that's not how it works. The fact that these experiences are out there and there's a huge collection of them, gives you no excuse. They point to God because they point to the supernatural, a realm on the other side, so to speak, which would make sense of scripture and spiritual text. These are no coincidences. All knees will bow to God. Everyone's time will come. You are already discerned in your beliefs it seems like, so I don't see much of a point making any of my points to you. If you had the same things happen to you, you'd be a fool to deny the existence of God.
@@paradoxartworks Why don't you value truth, Paradox? * Knowledge requires evidence. If someone values truth, and they're told of an idea where evidence is impossible, then knowledge of that idea is impossible and under no circumstances should someone believe it. (With the exception being that we do in fact discover evidence eventually.) * _I've asked you for evidence of a god._ So clearly I don't _discern_ (detect; see; have evidence of) a god. * _Logically that resulted in my non-belief._ I don't have a belief about god. I _don't_ believe in god. I also explained the mistakes to your logic. For example I pointed out that even if you proved "an entity" was involved in the experience, I asked why that would indicate a god. You had no answer, because your argument _doesn't_ logically conclude with a god! I pointed out the more probable explanation: malfunctioning brains. This agrees with everything we know about how the human brain functions. You've provided no evidence that it functions differently. Paradox, _my goal here is truth._ So I'm fine with you making theism look wrong. I'm fine with you ignoring my points to just repeat the same bad arguments and make your bizarre existential threats about bowing to God. But obviously the best case would've been (A) that you care enough about truth to actually present strong, logical evidence of a god and teach me something new. And the second-best case would be (B) you admitting that the reason you gave for believing is _absolutely terrible._ It is terrible. I mean imagine Gary makes your identical argument but says it proves leprechauns control the leprechaun-afterlife. Well Gary's argument is just as "logical" as yours, because nothing about either nearly-identical argument actually explains why gods or leprechauns were mentioned at all (the evidence didn't point to that conclusion, you just claimed it out of nowhere). But yeah if you're just going to ignore me, then at least future readers will see theism is indefensible nonsense. So thanks either way.

@@moreplease998 In theory, but what would you ground those morals in? I consider Sam Harris a pretty smart dude that give morality without God a good try. But recently he made statements that contradict everything he stood for. If you think you can do better, best of luck to you.
@@moreplease998 I see the same rabbit hole, and perhaps what I think is the bottom is just another twist in the tunnel, actually I am pretty sure it is, but won't know till I get to that "bottom" . But you make an assumption early on that I think is wrong. "In other words, we'd all intuitively know right from wrong" Is that not a bit arrogant to assume that if objective morals exist, they must have some connection with you? I don't see why there can't be an objective moral good that is completely disconnected from humans and beyond our natural perception. Just like there was objective laws in science, but it took a framework that went beyond our limitations to find.
@@moreplease998 I define my morality not based of what I feel, but based of principles. I certainly have bias from feelings that get in the way, but that's the bug I work on fixing. I create those moral principles by looking at line of thinking caused good outcomes in the past, with a study of history and discussion with others. These principles have often told me to do something opposites of my feels. As of yet I have not regretted listening to them over my feeling of what is right. "an objective morality that we have no personal perception of. If so then our own morality by default must be subjective." That is the exact reasoning I used when I rejected defining feeling off feelings. It's is subjective to you, but it's consistent because those feelings are formed by culture and we all live in the same culture. If you look at another culture through the lens of your own morality, it very much does look like they are all psychopaths. Take for example Japanese seppuku. To the US suicide is something that happens do to mental issues. To the Japanese, there was a situation in which suicide was the honorable thing to do. To say seppuku is wrong (which is something I would say), is to appeal to an objective morality, because subjectively they felt it was right. "were the morality of all minds truly subjective then no matter whether there is an absolute authority or not, moral right would fundamentally boil down to might makes right." You conclude this because you have concluded that morality must be derived from feeling. I reject morality from feeling so I come to a different conclusion. If their is an objective good that is disconnected from us, we can use our ability to learn and model things to find that objective morality. Just like science can find objective truth, but is always in the process of finding it because objective truth might be infinitely large. We can find objective morality that is coded into reality itself, but we will always be in the process of finding it.
@@moreplease998 Feelings are not the bottom of the rabbit hole. I am not so interested in what I feel, but rather why I feel that way. Take the idea of responsibility. When you meet or fail to live up to a responsibility you will get an emotional response, but the trigger for it is the reason part of the brain determining how we did. You can choose to take on responsibility and certainly an emotional impulse would be involved in that. But their are situation when you have responsibility placed on you. If the responsibility might be someone telling you just to do, in which it is might makes right as you pointed out. But it could be circumstances beyond any humans control. Let me explain it with a movie reference. In Spiderman, he gets his powers sees a theft happen but does nothing, because the crime didn't hurt him. But then the guy kills his uncle, so he had no way to know but the crime actually did hurt him. In that scene Spiderman's feelings cause him to set a goal of revenge for being cheated, then when the thief gets that revenge for him he feels justified. There are 2 moral principles in this scene. The idea of, if you have the power to take responsibility for a situation, then you should. Same as Peterson talking about finding the heaviest burden you can carry. Or Jocko Willink's ideas of extreme ownership. But of course this raises the question of what is the responsible thing to do, which is why the scene has the second principle of ownership in it. I will start as deep as I can go for this but try to make it brief. Existence is better then non-existence (if you don't believe this then you likely kill yourself and the idea dies with you, so I assume everyone alive accepts this). Killing ends existence, so that is a bad outcome (it might not be the worst outcome, but that doesn't exclude it from always being bad). Conflict happens, so we need a way to avoid killing. Trade is one form of compromise that allows this. In order to conduct trade, what is controlled by each party must be predetermined. I could be wrong, but my reason tells me the right of ownership is the best way to do this. I will admit that I take shortcuts accepting some appeal to authorities, but that is why it is a work in progress and I don't think I will ever claim to know what objective morality is. But I still think its worth striving for. For the point on suicide, I see it as abandoning your responsibilities. And since like my religion certainly gives me some responsibilities, I think this is why suicide is considered a sin. My view on the religion is that it had a reason for what it says is sin, and if I find that reason I can see if it applies to me. Some things are applicable today, but some things were issue tied to the culture of the time. I consider all that open for debate as I am not smart enough to figure it out myself and do have bias from emotional investment as you pointed out. But I disagree with the framing of appeal to objective morality. Seppuku isn't wrong because I think I am objective, rather thinking I am objective is the prerequisite for my opinion that it is wrong. Without belief in the objective, I have no right to condemn the actions of other cultures. I would still have to debate why my opinion is accurate and ensure it doesn't violate my principles before any action is taken. "Feelings provide a prominent part of the landscape of understanding of what each other wants" That sounds more like projecting then empathy. I think empathy requires knowledge of the other persons psychology for logic to use for filtering out your own emotions. Your overall point about empathy is very well stated, and I think many people can make do with that as a shortcut. But it does exclude people that lack empathy. Though I suspect I am a person that lacks empathy, so perhaps it is more effective then I give it credit for. The last point I will make before throwing it to you to respond is on the churches claim of objective moral imperative. I assume you are referring to the state churches of the middle ages and renascence. A common theme is that they suppressed the Bible and open discussion in general. Claims that fear their own scripture can't even make a real claim to objectivity, much less justify it. If a religion is true, then it will be self-evident and does not need censorship. The moment someone start to censor other ideas, I start to question rather they believe their own claims.
Personally I knew of God then in 1989 I experienced the reality of the living God experience and having a knowledge of something is something dig deeper into

Love the commentary as always. A true show of fear and trembling as we approach God. Only critique if I may is in the story of the rich young ruler. Christ did not say “Don’t call me good” He said “Why do you call me good?” He was wanting the man to make that connection But again great content
Another Peterson misread of the Bible. But he’s still great. I love it when he calls leftists “worse than animals” and yet the Bible says humans are “more valuable to god than animals”. It’s almost as if Peterson is inserting himself where god lies and using his own beliefs in gods place.
Correct. Only in one Gospel: Mark 10:18 Jesus did not say "don't", just "why". 👍👍👍 As for feeling anything other than glad when someone asks if you believe in God gives me pause to wonder how deeply that person does "believe" in God.
Some people (religions) have a very specific definition of not only God, but also belief in God. And it opens you up for judgement, not by God but by the person asking. If someone asks, and your reply is yes, if it doesn't fit their definition then they're likely to be quick to judge. I couldn't resist asking in a comment on the video JP recorded titled 'Message to Christian Churches' , 'what do you mean by Protestant?'. Of course I wasn't exactly being serious, but Protestant beliefs are extremely varied, even within denominations.
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
No one lives up to it! Therefore we give thanks to the father Yahweh, for his mercy endures forever! And thanks to the son Yahushua ha Mashiach for helping us! Halelu-Yah!
@@cagliari5984 If death were painless, then people might be a lot less adverse to it. You have to be really determined to die, not just a whim. And since you only get one life to find God, makes sense that he would put some incentives to have as much time as possible. I would also argue that emotional pain is far worse then physical pain. And the only way to remove emotional pain from death, is to erase the memory of the deceased. Would be a pretty crappy god if he did that.
@@viperstriker4728 If you live a long full life and die of old age, die in your sleep or sudden cardiac arrest you will die so quick you wont realize, hence painless death. (The death we strive for I suppose) Majority of the population especially throughout history doesn't/haven't had that luxury though. For sure I'd agree emotional pain is far worse than physical albeit that's once the person can at one point in their lives remember being of sound mind. Now though upon death like again before birth your mind becomes unconscious, never to be awoken again. (Who knows what future technology might be able to do to preserve it though) That to me and I believe most is very clear to see as it's happened for thousands of years and it's quite evident that a god or creator either doesn't exist or hasn't been to check on us in a very long time. Our lives have all happened the way they have on a spinning rock in a perfect solar system all because of probability, we got all three dice to land on six so to say. There are and have to be others out there which too would've gotten lucky with the formation of their star system. In conclusion we each get a very tight window of consciousness before losing it again and that's completely okay, the game of life is an amazing experience and one that someone should not need to devote themselves to a creator who hasn't been around since before the medieval age.

That reminds me of the fine turning argument for why a creator must exist. Because instead of 3 dice, it more more like a billion dice that landed on a 6. Or in my opinion someone took a lot of care in placing all those dice in the right side. "it's quite evident that a god or creator either doesn't exist or hasn't been to check on us in a very long time." So since it's evident, does that mean you have evidence? Or is this just an assumption you have made? I don't think he ever left. But I don't have evidence beyond antidotes that you would rightly put no trust in.
As an agnostic this is quite interesting. Lately i have been wondering about..Ethics..(and my place in the universe but let's go from ethics), And i defined it as "What reaches for the highest good" and tried to tackle it from an atheistic point of veiw, bechause i beleive that whatever is ethical cannot be defined by a single beeing (Atheistic with regards to the laws of nature, not values). And i started by observing that the reason anything matters, that anything can be good, is bechause there are people that can perceive things as good, nothing else can. Even if we truly live in a god-less universe, then things still matter by the sheer fact that people exist that can experience it. We are what enables things to be good, yet we don't get to decide. Subjektive experience is everything. (Nearly, i still feel i lack one final part) Long story slightly shorter: I realized/came to beleive that "What is Ethical" Could be seen as an emergent property of people existing and experiencing things (We carry a spark of divinity) And i have come to realise that much of the preliminary "conclusions" i made from exploring this line of thought are....shoot forgot... but let's just say that i feel i'm becoming more religious, i feel that Ethics (and "god" that i am starting to perceive through it) are presenting themselves as more factually correct than ever to me. And, as i said, i'm agnostic, so i'm not entirely beyond the idea of.. something beyond all of this (in fact i hope so), and i think, after imagening how a omnipotent god might function...i can imagine an scenario in which us existing in this world as it is makes sense. Essentialy we are here to experience it, bechause even if there is an afterlife that god controls, we need something "true" to inform us, and things can't be true if the basic rules can change, or if nothing has consequences, or if things reverse, or if the basic rules do no apply..or... Sorry i'm way to tirred right now, let's just say i'm starting to see the importance if me, and everybody else, how "true" being ethical is, and the wisdom in perhaps... allowing myself to be a bit more religious (christian appears to be the best fit), and perhaps seek a..non-fanatical?.. guidance in it.
Belief on a Supernatural Being with will, purpose and feelings (God) is an absolute decline of our human ability to experience the Universe as it really is. Our brains produce religious ideas for understanding reality and they do anything to protect them.
Yea exactly! We used religion to explain the world around us as we didn’t understand it but you’d think now at least a century into the modern age that we’d start using our heads again
@@cagliari5984 we probably would but the more we understand about the universe, the more there is to be understood. It is difficult for the average mind to comprehend things like quantum physics or big bang, or even the concept of time. Which is why religious believes will continue to exist. We can only hope that they evolve into something that is not so destructive.
It’s so interesting to see Petersons take on this. This idea that its not merely enough to conceptually acknowledge God, because the bible even says the demons believe in God and they tremble. But to put total belief and trust in God. Are we really taking up our cross, and following Christ, Or are we just saying we are. Peterson brings another verse to mind here the bible says to “count the cost”, you can say you’re following Jesus, but are we even aware of how huge of a statement that is in reality. All in all this makes me want to be more like Christ and be a good ambassador for the kingdom. But yet can still find comfort when i fall short of that goal, because of Christs work on the cross.
I've been listening to Jordan for a few months. I can certainly appreciate his contribution to the modern world of adolescence searching for meaning. Nonetheless, I find it endearing for an intellectual to put forward such poorly minded claims. People try to control the surrending them world and thus look for theories adequate to their needs. If one is satisfied with what Christianity and other religions bring to the modern world - fine. Accepting a plethora of tenets and ignoring what's written in the Bible doesn't resonate with intelligence and most of all critical thinking. People need curiosity to question everything, and that Mr Peterson doesn't necessarily lead to anxiety and trauma. Philosophy and literature is the kea to find comfort in the inexplicable world:) Stay safe 🙌
Christianity is better than atheism non beliefeth beliefs. Only Christianity has brought true meaning Always to Americas and the whole world. im not sure what you could teach me Old man. you should leave those Christians alone. They leave you alone too. They have to tell you the message first then leave you alone and bother you no more. Then if you decide choose the path of darkness or brightness.
Yes I believe in God I believe in his mercy and his power within me to transform me daily and strive to become all that I was created to become which is a person seeking God and the power to live out that which I seek. That is not my understanding my understanding is that he will walk with me and transform my mind and mine behavior but not completed until I die and meet him in heaven. Yes

1:28 what you believe is what you act out, not what you say. If you are an integrated person and what you act out and what you say is the same, then you are a person whose words can be trusted
As a christian we believe in the perfect righteousness and perfect love of God which He manifested in Jesus Christ who came in the flesh and voluntarily died on the cross on our behalf while we were yet sinners and enemies of God. We were made christians when we believed on Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross *alone* and His resurrection *alone,* _despite_ of our sins. It _is_ the gospel of the grace of God, _not_ a false gospel of the supposed 'goodness' or 'self improvement' of mankind. Jordan's question is discomfortable because he has to let go trying to attain righteousness by his own strength, which always fails. That's why it is written in *_John 3:16-21_* _For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved._ _“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”_

@Lessko Brandon That cannot be an honest question, who thinks someone takes the time to copy and paste three paragraphs in a post to the public that they believe untrue?
A clever man who wants power convinces others of their rightness in the simplest way possible. I didn't say intelligent. I didn't say thought provoking. Just someone regurgitating what you already believe-but in an eloquent, self congratulating way. And you're all hooked as if narcissus in front of his reflection.

Jesus said "“Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day." So you need to become a member of the Orthodox church and take part in the Eucharist.

Jesus was not a Christian, He couldn’t be a follower of Himself. He could not be His own disciple. Jesus was God incarnate, the Christ on Earth ,the chosen one ,the anointed one. His followers are Christians.
Jesus was a Jew of course....The gospels indicate that Jesus was crucified naked on the cross. I once read that the reason the images of the crucified Christ always included wearing a loincloth, not only for the sake of modesty but also to hide the fact that Jesus was a circumcised Jew.
@@cheechak481 It is just plain decency. The old artists did not think it was right to depict Jesus' genitals. If the objection was circumcision they simply would not have depicted the penis as circumcised.
Mr Peterson. You are a treasure to the human race!!! God created man and woman. He sent Jesus to die for our sin. Because after all, we are ONLY human. WE, as a hole make mistakes. Sometimes very big mistakes. BUT, thru Jesus and by our own repentance, we CAN be forgiven. THAT, is the power of God. Satan is EVERYWHERE, and he "tests" us every single day. But thru our faith in Jesus, WE have the power to overcome those lies!!!! Spot on sir. Spot on.
I myself wouldn’t judge, people will have there own understanding and belief; I DO believe in God and the bible and that Jesus died for me, and that I will stand in judgement before Him, but the bible tells me that I stand for myself, as does everyone for themselves, so hence my reasoning not to judge because I’m not the judge
I was taught not to question the bible just to believe it is so. But as a human as man this was impossible to believe in something so unimaginable so I had to find out for myself. So I went and I spoke out loud as if he was walking with me. I was alone of course and I asked questions and said I don't want to hear voices I want you to show me the answers as I walked I talked I talked about what I thought life was what I had hoped for in the future I talked about my questions about some of the storyline and how it was hard to comprehend I questioned his existence but only because I wanted the truth I wanted to know the truth. As I walked my questions were answered with items I found in nature and nature itself by the time my day was over and was time to go home I had no doubt in my mind this was real . Really hard to explain really hard to realize what had just happens. Yes it changes you yes you try to live up to it but as I said to him or god I was a man and I will make mistakes and from what I understood was be man make mistakes but know I am here for you when nobody else is that he is their when the darkest of your life is at its worst he's their and when you believe this deep inside and hold it true it helps keep you grounded and keeps you from falling off the edge I don't care what others believe and they will never be able to change my mind now I'm a very rational person I want truth I don't want fish story's but for me I can't say he's not real I'd be lieing. Be true to yourself and your heart life is life and man is not perfect. Even Jesus knew this. God is with us if we like it or not.
"Ask, and it shall be given you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened unto you." You will never go wrong as long as you are truly seeking TRUTH. Jesus said, "I am the Way, the TRUTH and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me." John 14:6

The god and I did get enough response that it illiminated any doubt I had. You have to really believe and be open to even the smallest detail just walk and talk. It may take more then one time to test your faith but keep doing it and you will get your answers I guarantee
I came to believe in God and thatJesus is who He claimed to be I have had to live with that for many years regardless of whether or not I have behaved as though I do. God forgive me.
I wish people cared more about _why_ they believed than _what_ they believed. Gary could say basically the same thing you said, that he believes in leprechauns and believes they do in fact leave pots of gold around, but Gary admits sometimes he doesn't act like he believes those pots of gold exist (he hasn't spent much of his life looking for them). And that's great and all, but shouldn't Gary care whether there's a good reason to believe in leprechauns? Shouldn't you care whether there's a good reason to believe in god(s)?
@@majm4606 What makes you think I believe without good reason. To me it is clear that life and the universe must have a Creator that Jesus told the truth and did works that show that truth. I see the Prophets as proof of God and Jesus Christ.
@@mrshankerbillletmein491 Well for example when I challenged you to provide evidence of a god, _you immediately changed topics to a "creator"._ (I created this comment. I'm its creator. Are you saying I'm a god? If so, your definition of "god" is wrong. If not, then you agree that by switching topics to "creator" you're immediately acting like you don't have a good reason to believe in a god.) What evidence proves the Bible's claim? Without outside evidence, you're just believing one random, unproven book. It gets worse: what supernatural claims are even made in the Bible? That Jesus faith-healed people? That he died and came back? Well _aren't those all things that humans have fooled other humans about?_ Peter Popoff is a well-known faith-healer scammer whose followers _actually believed_ he healed people. People have faked their own deaths, or impersonated dead people to trick others into thinking a dead person came back to life. So even at face value the list of things Jesus is claimed to have done doesn't seem like the list of things _an actual god_ could've done.
Jesus said “why do you call me good?” To the rich young man. It was a test see if he truly believed Jesus was God and if he believed that God is good, even though Jesus was asking the young man to do something he was heart broken to follow. Obedience to God is not about God taking it’s about us trusting. In the same way God asked Abraham for Isaac not because God wanted to kill his son but wanted to reveal Abraham fully trusted that God was good no matter what He asks for. Abraham believed so much in the goodness and faithfulness of God that he believed God would raise Isaac from the dead. Ultimately the greatest trusting is in salvation for our souls.
I love your videos. I think you need to take the leap of faith and accept Christ as your personal savior. You will be transformed instantly in you mind with the Holy Spirit. Indeed there was one Christian who died on the cross so that there would be more Christians born out of Himself. The blood of the righteous one, was spilled for the unrighteous who would believe in Him! Out of one, many! Thank God for Jesus❤️
I pray for Jordan Peterson. He is so close and yet so far from salvation. No, we aren't good, and we will inevitably sin and stumble and make mistakes even after we are made good through Christ's blood. That is the point of Christianity. To build a relationship with Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit and He will mold you into what He wants you to be. That's the sacrifice you have to make is to give yourself fully to Him, but you must first believe and confess with your mouth that Jesus is the only way, that God wills that not any should perish. That God loved us so much that He sent His Son to live the perfect life and fulfill the law He gave to Moses and die for our sins. I don't know if he'll see this. It's enough for God anyway to work through prayer, for He is not limited to the comment section. I pray that Jordan Peterson or someone else reading this opens their heart to the truth that is Jesus Christ and accept Him as Lord. Amen.
Very interesting discussion - I do feel that there is a difference between Faith and Character to some degree. I think one an have a firm faith in God and fall short, this is the human condition - we can be impatient, irritable, defensive sometimes etc but must always be aware and striving to improve - But premeditated acts of abuse such as child abuse are in a different category. I cannot fathom how one could do such things and say they believe in God.
Called to worship the True God in spirit and in truth To walk in the precepts and commandments of the word. You pray and try to introduce Jesus to All You have relationship converse always with God. You ask forgiveness of sin and move from sin. We are all sinners and are so easily slipped up at times but God knows your heart and mind. Thank God. I just love Jesus and he knows that. 💜☝️🙏

_David,_ With or without belief in a god, people feel euphoric. It's not like you have evidence a god exists or (less important because it wouldn't indicate whether a god exists) that people feel more euphoric with god than without.
Also you seemed to ignore his "answers". After all, _he never answers the question._

Sentences of excecution( murdering legal implications type as such bad are unchangeable criminals...) all of that sentences on filthiest will not be adequate. They are worst beings that kill women and children filth them they should be first exposed as individuals filthy... My family purest is abused by the worst filthiest.
Thanks Jordan
God bless and keep you and your family
Very well said. I find myself in exactly that same place. I know I believe, deep down, but there are times when what I DO don't really exhibit true belief. Other times, I do things that only a true believer COULD do. The flesh and the Spirit are ALWAYS at odds. Then, He brings me back to: Christ IN you, the hope of glory. His abiding in me and I in Him is the only real Relationship that matters. Sometimes it is very apparent, and other times it's just not.
Wonderful, profound wisdom! he is taking you for a fool.
Some of the most evil people in the world have perpetrated unspeakable Evil and Attached the Name of God or Jesus Christ to it in an attempt to legitimize their deeds.
I hope you can see that those very people, which the world is full of, murdered Jesus Christ out of their own hatred towards the "Divine".
They also estrange you from yourself and they just want more, there is no need to actually believe in anything.... you could just process reality and still become a divine being.
Great one Dr. Peterson God bless you thankyou 🙏
You can listen and listen to this man!
Jordans lectures hmm I am very happy I found his videos. Thank you Jordan.
Glad to hear his view about God. ❤

Lol you are so correct.
God bless you.
GOD bless!😀😀

How do you tell all your Christian followers that they've been mislead for their own good all along...
@@jawknee13 how do you tell atheists how depressing is it to play video games all the damn day endlessly withought quitting?
Jesus Christ is the only Way and im praying for Dr. Peterson
@@Lycurgus1982 Okay, have an entity fly through your window and enter your body at 3am wide awake and tell me religion is just man-made
@@paradoxartworks Why didn't you just _provide evidence of a god?_
* You provided an interpretation of an experience. Meaning: you didn't even prove "an entity" was involved.
* Even if you'd proven that, why would "an entity" indicate a god at all? (To be clear, religion is belief/worship of a god, so when you're considering whether religions are just man-made everything revolves around whether you have reasonable evidence of a god or not.)
Do you find it _at all weird_ that the most common moments believers cite for experiences of god involve brains functioning at their worst?
* the barely-awake brain of your example
* NDEs involving dying brains
* DMT experiences
* deathbed conversions where the person is at their most desperate and irrational
_I don't think it's weird, personally._ But well...I don't believe in a god (due to the lack of evidence) so to me it's just logical that believers would desperately grasp at whatever "evidence" they could find, and just conveniently ignore the fact that all these moments involve malfunctioning or irrational brains.
(With the exception being that we do in fact discover evidence eventually.)
* _I've asked you for evidence of a god._ So clearly I don't _discern_ (detect; see; have evidence of) a god.

"In other words, we'd all intuitively know right from wrong"
Is that not a bit arrogant to assume that if objective morals exist, they must have some connection with you?
If so then our own morality by default must be subjective."
That is the exact reasoning I used when I rejected defining feeling off feelings.
"were the morality of all minds truly subjective then no matter whether there is an absolute authority or not, moral right would fundamentally boil down to might makes right."
You conclude this because you have concluded that morality must be derived from feeling.
"Feelings provide a prominent part of the landscape of understanding of what each other wants"
That sounds more like projecting then empathy.

Christ did not say “Don’t call me good”
He said “Why do you call me good?” He was wanting the man to make that connection
But again great content
Another Peterson misread of the Bible. But he’s still great. I love it when he calls leftists “worse than animals” and yet the Bible says humans are “more valuable to god than animals”. It’s almost as if Peterson is inserting himself where god lies and using his own beliefs in gods place.
Yes. Jesus added "only God is good" He hoped the man would realize what he had said.
Ah thank you for this!
I haven't read the verse in a while, nor did I think on it to find any deeper truth there, but that makes complete sense.

No people just die, no mercy is given if there was death would be painless but unfortunately for most it’s not
@@cagliari5984 If death were painless, then people might be a lot less adverse to it.
@@cagliari5984 "we got all three dice to land on six so to say. There are and have to be others out there which too would've gotten lucky with the formation of their star system."
That reminds me of the fine turning argument for why a creator must exist. Because instead of 3 dice, it more more like a billion dice that landed on a 6. Or in my opinion someone took a lot of care in placing all those dice in the right side.
"it's quite evident that a god or creator either doesn't exist or hasn't been to check on us in a very long time."
So since it's evident, does that mean you have evidence? Or is this just an assumption you have made?
I don't think he ever left. But I don't have evidence beyond antidotes that you would rightly put no trust in.
As an agnostic this is quite interesting.
Lately i have been wondering about..Ethics..(and my place in the universe but let's go from ethics),
And i defined it as "What reaches for the highest good"
and tried to tackle it from an atheistic point of veiw, bechause i beleive that whatever is ethical cannot be defined by a single beeing
(Atheistic with regards to the laws of nature, not values).
(Nearly, i still feel i lack one final part)
Long story slightly shorter:
I realized/came to beleive that "What is Ethical" Could be seen as an emergent property of people existing and experiencing things
(We carry a spark of divinity)
And i have come to realise that much of the preliminary "conclusions" i made from exploring this line of thought are....shoot forgot... but let's just say that i feel i'm becoming more religious, i feel that Ethics (and "god" that i am starting to perceive through it) are presenting themselves as more factually correct than ever to me.
Philosophy and literature is the kea to find comfort in the inexplicable world:)

That's why it is written in *_John 3:16-21_*
_For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved._
_“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Nature goes on forever for everyone and everything to return as everyone and everything an infinite number of times through evolutionary processes. 🌌
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
A clever man who wants power convinces others of their rightness in the simplest way possible. I didn't say intelligent. I didn't say thought provoking. Just someone regurgitating what you already believe-but in an eloquent, self congratulating way. And you're all hooked as if narcissus in front of his reflection.
YOU WILL ALWAYS BE EMPTY WITHOUT THE LORD GOD JESUS AND THE HOLY SPIRIT
speak for yourself, you do not speak for me.
I’ve never known peace, joy and hope that is given by Jesus. I am not quite sure how people live without Jesus. Praying for every person that reads this message.Jesus loves you and there is hope! If your don’t believe ask Jesus to show himself to you. Love and blessings to all
You don't have to be a good person to believe in God or go to church. It's what you believe in in your heart and your mind. And hes right it's nobody's F and business.Last time I was in the church is when I got married and I'm a painter And I've painted a few of them.✊️🙌
Jesus said "“Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day." So you need to become a member of the Orthodox church and take part in the Eucharist.
@@stanal4064 He didn't say that. Read the Bible.
John 14:15-17 ESV
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
@@thomasmartinscott I went to god and he showed me however it was studying Hebrews and the book of John at this time my questions were answered with biblical events and objects related to the this and the connection was to bible stories and events. The reason I said god was the issue I had with learning other religions is I wanted to speak to the God and not a specific entity so I said God and not anything else or person. The god and I did get enough response that it illiminated any doubt I had. You have to really believe and be open to even the smallest detail just walk and talk. It may take more then one time to test your faith but keep doing it and you will get your answers I guarantee
Ha, ha, ha....... I like ther last sentence; "God is with us if we like it or not." Is option "not" really open? Ha, ha, ha........
If not, then you agree that by switching topics to "creator" you're immediately acting like you don't have a good reason to believe in a god.)
What evidence proves the Bible's claim? Without outside evidence, you're just believing one random, unproven book.
It gets worse: what supernatural claims are even made in the Bible? That Jesus faith-healed people? That he died and came back? Well _aren't those all things that humans have fooled other humans about?_ Peter Popoff is a well-known faith-healer scammer whose followers _actually believed_ he healed people. People have faked their own deaths, or impersonated dead people to trick others into thinking a dead person came back to life. So even at face value the list of things Jesus is claimed to have done doesn't seem like the list of things _an actual god_ could've done.
What happened to the background music.. it solidifies the message.. please bring it back
"Why use one word when ten will do?"
-- Jordan Peterson
Oh yes, he likes to talk. Ha,ha, ha......
said once, it depends on what you mean by God/gods, and follow,
Jesus said “why do you call me good?” To the rich young man.
Everyone needs JESUS. Nobody gets to the father but through me. Thats what Jesus said.
I love your videos. I think you need to take the leap of faith and accept Christ as your personal savior. You will be transformed instantly in you mind with the Holy Spirit. It will all make sense then. It's about the leap of faith . You are being as fair as possible but no matter the how smart you are , wisdom is what you lack without the Holy spirit. Not carnal wisdom but spiritual wisdom .

To believe in God we first need to believe in ourselves.
As in believe that you are real? Why would that be a requirement?
Or are you just making an inspiration cat poster type comment?
The devil believes in God. Doesn't help him much.
Good thing neither are real
@@cagliari5984 You will find out some day.
@@randywise5241 Thankfully I don’t need to believe in a god or devil, heaven or hell blah blah etc. We made them up and that doesn’t make them real. Base your mind in reality and accept just like before birth you will become permanently unconscious.
@@cagliari5984 Funny, that was an emotional response.
@@randywise5241 no that was a logical explanation to the world in which you too live in. But I’m all ears to hear your case?
Amen.
Can anyone advise when this was recorded? It would be awesome to hear the whole lecture. Thank you
It was recorded in 20bullshit AD.
He sounds more and more like a fundamentalist.
It doesn't matter what you believe. What is...IS. And God IS.
