  • So we’ve already taken a look at the basics of what the cosmere is and all the different Shards and planets within the cosmere. But today I think it’s time we looked at something a lot more interesting. Today we’ll be looking at something that actually gives first-time cosmere readers an indication that there’s more to this universe than meets the eye...

The fact that Odium was nervous about Hoid being in Roshar kinda gives me the vibe that Hoid knows the weaknesses of all the Shards of Adonalsium and how to oppose them effectively, foiling them quietly behind the heroes in each story.
The biggest question I have is... how does he know when exactly to interfere with critical world events? His timing in some of the books is uncanny 🤔🤔

Hoid can manipulate Fortune, which is a tangible force that can be manipulated in the Cosmere. He always knows where he is needed. He doesn't always know what he needs to do there, but he knows where to go, and when to be there.

I've read the mistborn series and warbreaker so far, besides the first 3 stormlight books.
Maaaaaaaaaan I am in love with hoid/wit, especially after the epilogue of oathbringer.
    Spoilers!
Hoid casually using his "breath" to awaken a puppet, lure a child out of the rubble next to the corpse of her mother, while delivering her to a mother who lost her child, casually bond a cryptic and speak the first ideal of the radiants.
His guidance of shallan and kaladin over the series, his subtle appearances in mistborn (his first appearance while talking to kelsier was amazing, now knowing who he actually is, and that kelsier was the one getting misleaded.

He stored his memories in the Breaths, not in metalminds. Hoid has had no prior indication of access to Feruchemy. And (BANDS OF MOURNING SPOILERS) unkeyed metalminds are only being developed in Era 2 of Mistborn, which canonically takes place in the timespan between books 5 and 6 of Stormlight.
So as of right now, the odds of him using metalminds seem highly unlikely. TaravOdium definitely did something to the Breaths holding Hoid's memories.

My head canon is that he's working on rejoining adonolsium (sp?) because he is what was left over after the adonolsium shattered, and why he said no to one shard when he needs them all to be complete again (though, what that means with the dead shards, and everything else i dunno). admittedly, i'm most assuredly wrong, but it's the head canon i have at the moment :) Oh god, the eternal coatrack.

I got the feeling mortal locks you in one world/system, being a cognitive shadow locks you in one world/system, and you need something more to world hop. Nothing I can really point tom but that was the sense I got. Odium was locked to the Rosharan system as well, but I think that had more to do with the Oath Pact.

Meaning, essentially, that Hoid is now at minimum an immortal, instantly healing man who can bring inanimate objects to life and command them, perceive life around him, control the emotions of those around him at will, enhance his body and all his senses, fly, control time to some extent, leech investiture, produce illusions, transform matter and literally anything else as long as he can think of the proper aons. If Hoyd is going planet to planet, incapable of hurting people and collecting every power possible, wouldn't the most likely motive for him he that he is in a way, helping to reforge Adonalsium? Because every expression of investiture comes from a shard, so with a dash of the 16 powers, and a sprinkle of the 4 dawn shard commandments, would that not re creat the god they broke apart?

He seeks to rejoin the the shards to restore the one god in order to stop the universal power struggle.

First, I hate him, because he used SO many names and was a really third/extra charapter (Like Sten Lee's cameos in the UMC). When, in Stormlight, I just could not stop laughing because who bad jokes where (Remenbering me of Mointy Pitons). And now...I kust can wait to see how he sees the inevitable return of the god thta ones was destroy.

@@barryryan7777 I'm sorry, I don't see it more than superficially. Hoid lives by his weird - and seemingly senseless oath, Merrilin doesn't have moral rootes that go that deep.
