I understand that Natasha has mentioned that she is not done with the retro theme. However, I still believe that this palette has nothing to do with the line and should not have been called retro. Again, these are just my opinions. Had she started with something that looked more like the original mini retro and then introduced a palette like this to add to the line, I think that would’ve been more understandable. It’s not typical for her to create more than one large palette based off a mini… I find it confusing. I still like this palette. These are just my thoughts and I mean no harm in speaking them ❤️

Considering there is a 2nd palette planned and she stated that pretty much upon releasing this palette, I agree.
I think your theory is correct because she hasn’t “continued” a collection past the one mini+midi… so yes, it would make complete sense that the actual retro palette is in the works and she slapped the name on this one in the meantime.
Hello Pretty Lady so what i have heard is that this New Retro ND is based off the blush shades in the minin Retro and there will be another addition added to complete the mini 😳 so i think the next will be based if the mossy greens 😳
I just got mine in the mail yesterday. Unfortunately, one of the shadows was completely missing from the palette. So bottom line, would you replace it or let it go?
My dear Mel, it has finally happened!!! Natasha Denona came out with a Retro Glam palette!!! And it’s exactly the color story that everyone (including you) was hoping for when the (bigger) Retro came out. You were the first person I thought of when it was leaked. I wish I could see the looks that you would have made with this palette. You are SO MISSED!!! RIP Angel
Miss you Mel! Natasha listened to you, the new Retro is basically your recreation. You would have been an excellent artistic director for a brand. You are sorely missed in this RUclips space.
I love how beautiful Mel looked in purple tones. Love her sweater and her earrings. She will always be a light. She was beyond talented. Still going to keep coming back to make sure I can follow her looks.

Ugh I love this color story it hits me- I’m not tethered to the retro name as everyone else is. Like any pallet if it’s a good color story and a solid formula that’s what I’m looking for.

It is definately all those things👍 I am not attracted to the kahki greens in the mini but this midi is all the things i love.
I just find it fascinating that people put her into a box and feel the need to dictate what she releases. It's her brand and she can create what she wants.
@@auraj1125 exactly. Could you imagine the pressure of meeting the expectations and not delivering. Or sacrificing her artistic vision just to add a green to the pallet so it “deserves” the retro name. She could call it what she wants. What I love about this beyond the color story is how it is cohesive extension to the Glam and the Love.

Retro issue aside this is such a beautiful, everyday friendly palette and personally I'm glad some of the shades need to be built up as opposed to too much on the first go. Love it 💜
I agree! I have glam and sunrise as well. I don’t feel like sunrise is something I would ever wear to a work setting. Glam is gorgeous but most metallics would be too much for where I go. This one doesn’t have a single shade that feels like too much. I can wear all the shades comfortably.

No, the palette wasn't what I expected, but because mauves and berries are my thing, I loved and bought it immediately! If it had been the color story I was "expecting," I probably would not have bought it, as the colors in Mini Retro aren't good on me! Great looks, Mel! As always, I just love your tutorials.
Mel, you can make any palette work and look absolutely beautiful! What you created was gorgeous but I think we all appreciate that you are so honest with your thoughts and feelings about a product so that we can make our informed decisions. Love you Mel!

I was so bummed there wasn’t greens in the larger size retro pallet.
I just bought the Natasha Denona glam , bronze , sunrise and retro palettes and felt a little eh once I opened the retro palette but Mels looks made me more excited for it as they are STUNNIINNNNGG!!!

I saw it as a cheap and underhand way of pushing this palette out there. I understand she has said it's a companion palette to the Glam palette and that she hasn't forgotten that we want (demand 😉) the greens. But she's known for quite some time that we want greens, so why push this one out AND call it Retro?
Which means, when the greens DO come, she can't call the palette "Retro" - even though it would be more fitting.
I'm not buying this. I can get these shades from the Huda Naughty palette and it's not a colour story I'm interested in.

If she will create a line with different retro inspiration... Like a Renaissance palette, a 50s palette, a baroque palette for example... That's cool. But I think that she told us that the retro isn't done, just because of clients disappointment

Especially now that Natasha Denona has come out with Retro Glam, which would make your heart so happy because it looks way more like the Mini Retro. As I use that palette and the one Sydney Grace put together based on yours, I will forever think of you Mel. I hope you're having a wonderful time up there in heaven 🥰🖤
I was thrilled when this launched. Is it different than the mini? Yes. However, I'm a sucker for cool-toned taupe and mauve, so I was still absolutely thrilled about it. I think she'll come out with another Retro that focuses on the greens in the mini (which I will also be thrilled about because I'm also a sucker for green) so I'm not getting pressed about a Retro that focuses on the pink from the mini.
She did say on an IG live that she hears us and plans to do another retro with greens
@@kariw.160 I heard that on her IG too. I don’t really want to buy another palette to create a complete look. That is just my opinion though. In the scheme of the world I don’t really mind any of this. 🤷♀️
I would love to see someone use the midi and mini pallets together. Would be interested to see the ways they could potentially be complimentary to one another.
You can definitely use the right side of retro with the mini.

She mentioned the greens & greiges are coming, that she wasn’t finished with the Retro line. I still don’t see this palette as being anything close to the mini retro. It does fit well within her line overall, we don’t have many of these burgundies/mauves from her …..and all those cream to powders are much appreciated, I feel for that formula what people feel for PM special shades …lol

This is more like a Love 2.0 than a Retro. I do wish she had waited and released something else. I do hope, for the sake of all dissapointed people out there that she does come with greens and greiges!

I feel your thoughts. She has Cupid trademarked, no Retro Midi. So it looks like because of the high demand she named it Retro now instead of Cupid. Good business strategy though (sucks for us who were waiting for a REAL retro midi).
Really???!!! This would make total sense! I completely looks like a "Cupid" palette. Or a Love 2. Or Retro Love. Or Glam Love - because for me it looks like the baby of Glam and Love. I personally think this should have been released for Valentines Day! For me it is not Retro at all.
I’m hoping that Natasha creates a true full size Retro based on the mini retro named after you in your honor! Love you Mel!
I have this palette and find it to be both beautiful and extremely easy to work with. I've had to make myself use other palettes. It's much more beautiful in person and I feel inspired when looking at it. Warm rose, cool rose, taupe, they're all there. The cream to powder formula in this palette is the best yet.

Name doesn't matter to me and I watched several other influencers who loved the palette and how it went on, so I love the color story so I'm wanting to buy! It looked good on you too!

I still come back and watch your videos Mel. Your lovely face and new videos are so missed, so I come and watch your videos and get my fix of seeing you and talent. If I'm thinking of buying any high end make up or doing a new look - I always search to see if 'Our Mel' has advised on the product first.
I just got my palette and I love it!!!! I am not concerned at all that it does not look like the smaller retro palette. I am going to enjoy mixing the beautiful colors for fall!
I got this in the mail fairly quick and since I received it I’m obsessed and can’t put this palette down. Everyday I’m able to create very different looks and every look has gotten compliments from strangers. I love this palette a lot and I want to see what the 2nd retro looks like, the green shades were my favorite in mini retro. I highly suggest getting this palette if you’re looking to have soft/dramatic looks with one palette.

I do agree Mel - I was so hyped when she sneaked the plans for a Midi Retro and sooooo disapointed when the first pictures came. I love the Mini Retro so much, and actually copied your DIY Midi Retro with Sydney Grace shades and I adore it. Now THAT is a true Retro palette! This is just a pink palette. Very boring. So saved me a penny or two there, and I really think you and SG should do a colab using these shades you found for the real Midi Retro Look-alike before Natasha does it :-D

I like how you use a darker shade at the end to kind of create an eyeliner. I'm going to try that today, I actually have the same little Rephr pencil brush you're using! It's so tiny but so useful!

100% agree, I just don't get the similarities from the mini retro to this one. Really think it's a missed opportunity because I would have LOVED a midi sized green/pink palette.
I’ve been waiting for this review. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just not green. I wanted green. Half the pallets I own have been mauve and berry. It’s been done.

That is a very interesting point you made Mel. I can't wait to FINALLY get the Retro palette - ugh starting to feel like PMG vibes with the length of time it is taking to get this darn thing! I love the mauve tones in this one but I agree there should have been more incorporation of some of the colors in the mini Retro (a couple of colors in the green family would have been perfect_
I haven’t heard anyone have issues with any of the shades so I’m wondering if your expectations for the Retro name affected your experience with this palette? I love it and am excited to get it in the mail today! Other creators that follow ND have said that she is revisiting the Retro name and doing greens.
I always wonder if they listen to what the creators had to say and if they listened to what their inspiration was. I love Mel and I love her idea for this palette. Natasha did say she was going to add green to this collection eventually. I just started this video tho- so maybe Mel did, I’ll have to listen. But my reaction to this on first few seconds is the same as yours.
I have had a comment or two mentioning that they felt there was a difference as well. Like I said, it’s not bad it’s just not the same. ❤️ I completely took the idea of what the pallet should have been out of the equation when I talked about the quality and performance of the palette ❤️
IMO, ND shouldn’t have to revisit anything. I don’t think asking her to stay true to a collection name or color scheme is asking too much. This palette shouldn’t have been named Retro in the first place.

I’ve watched a few reviews that had trouble with the metallics building and had to go over the mattes a few times to get their depth. . I haven’t watched this video entirely to see what Mel had trouble with.
Opart - optical art. Kind of fitting for an eyeshadow name.

That would make for an amazing palette itself. Taupe, browns and multichrome varieties
The first person I thought about when this one is came out was you. I think the retro palette you created was a better alternative and color story than what ND presented to us. I like the color story but I was just expecting something totally different. I think I will stick to my Lila palette I think is a great palette and has more variety
