I love the colour, spec and the name. I would just delete Clubman badge. Definitely agree on the tyres. Run flats are better than they used to be, but still like fitting steel toe caps on a running shoe. Be safe and do want you can 👍 we will be here with you.
I removed the Clubman lettering after one month of ownership. I couldn't stand the 4-3. I keep the armrest cover open while charging. 18" wheels, no run flats, adaptive suspension on soft 90% of the time, always on Sport (and S/S off) with BimmerCode.
Loving the car... I want one. Whilst we all love the content you bring to your channel, I’m more than sure that we would all understand should you not be able to provide your videos. We are in the middle of a global health crisis and these are unprecedented times, the main point here is keep you and your family safe. You have all of our support come what may. And to everyone of your subscribers, stay safe and we shall all get through this.
When i bought my FK8 it put a massive smile on my face. When i get into my car now 18 months later it still puts a smile on my face, that's when you know its the right car. So i understand when you talk about putting a smile on your face. Have lots of fun in the new car Pete hope you and the family stay safe.
I'm in the de-badge camp. If you're noticing the letters in chrome, it will be even worse in black. Regarding the de-chrome I'm probably in the minority as I don't mind the chrome. Get what you're saying about the other trim being black however I think a little chrome looks fine and it ties in with the polished faces of the wheels. Stay safe and enjoy the drive.
Greetings from beautiful Washington State! I love your JCW Clubman video series so much that a placed an order for a 2023! I have been driving Jeeps most of my life, but your love for Minis comes through so well that it made me take a closer look at them. Next thing I know I was building Minis online, test driving them, until I finally placed an order. Now the waiting starts...😆
Agree with the tyres. Ran the factory runflats on my JCW and it was like driving with no suspension. Very hard and also if you tried any spirited driving, it was like driving on ice. Couldn't get any grip. So I ran them on the JCW until they needed changing just to get my monies worth and immediately wrapped them in Pilot Sport 4s. Oh my god, the difference is incredible.
Agree with the OCD issue... Maybe you should replace CLUBMAN with PETROLPED, but with the "O" split in half. Maybe a C and a backwards one one either door or some brackets "(" and ")" or just have the "O" cut in half
Found your series about the JCW Clubman and have been enjoying your videos. I think the Clubman has great style and practicality and would like to test one soon. Keep up the good work and the updates on your Mini!
I feel the need , the need for speed. Glad you are happy Pete. 1. My Samsung S10 gets hot in the case when lead connected to Android Auto. 2 get graphics made up , same font as rear letters ,in red, split the middle letter across the doors. Wreck the contis then use those wheels for winter tyres. Keep safe.
I bought Clubman JCW at 16,Mar 2022. This is wonderful car with Black roof and White pepper body. I’m enjoying like you. Thank you for the important informations,
Mine is currently being built (Starlight blue w/ red roof & mirror caps, custom jcw bonnet stripes.) After seeing 2020 launch edition, I ordered mine with all badges in black, including Mini badge front/back, All4 badge, Clubman letters, and black door handles :)
My 2 cents worth. De badge it completely, it'll look much better. Plus take that silver sign off under the driver side, back light. Have it completely debadged on the rear doors. Keep up the great work & content!
Belt line dechrome was best and most affecting 'blacking out' we done on Ollys Mini. Easy enough to do DIY with the right kit of the correct width + hair dryer. Fitted black covers on handles too.
Quality as per usual young Pete. Every video you do with the JCW Clubman reinforces my appetite to buy one in a few years time. The colour and spec of yours is awesome, a very wise selection Squire. My festidious radar can live with the 4 and 3 character badge oddity funnily enough as Mini seem to have it centred with the spacing. Badge deletion is by far your easiest option, but I'd be tempted to try a black set once you've completed de-chroming the window trims and door handles. In these troubling times, having channels and content like yours to watch is not only helpful but sincerely appreciated, so thank you. Your positivity and sincerity towards fans appreciated in equal measure. As we avoid social contact, where practicable, you could perhaps consider some content on a full tour of the switch-gear and onboard systems, practicality (loading), ownership costs and perhaps a lesson on cutting a good deal when buying a car. Just some isolation friendly ideas. I sincerely wish you and your family my best wishes as we go through this crisis and certainly hope like many others, self-employed/small businesses, you come out of the other side financially unscathed too. Your fanbase will be with you through this testing time of course. All the best.
Thanks Darren. Some great suggestions. I hope to put a simple video out this evening getting everyone together to see how as a community of Peddlerz we can help each other to get though this 👍
Beautiful sounding F54. Loving the colour, I think it’s the best combo. I’ve de-chromed my 6 door handles, belt line and replaced the CLUB MAN to piano black, I think my 2017 F54 looks fab. The de-chrome is a must on your colour scheme, it will transform it visually and the stealth look with your privacy glass and lamp trims will mean it will look as good as it sounds.
Thank you. Thank you for making such quality and fun-to-watch videos. This was my first time watching your channel, and I have to say that it is a hidden gem! You just earned yourself a new subscriber, keep it up!
I’d de badge the rear chap, there’s no chance of mistaking what it is and your right I’d not noticed the odd layout. Re the phone, mine does the same in my XC60 to the point I can put it in my pocket after, try having the arm rest up and let the air get to it more I guess. Stay safe.
Good choice think four wheel drive is better good for our weather enjoy seen ruby roadster a few times on other vids at other exotic showrooms keep safe.
Great vid. My wife has the Coupe SD and has de-chromed the whole car. Just a heads up PPed, the detailer found the belt line very tricky to do. Definitely worth it though. I’d de-badge the CLUBMAN, I did the same on my JCW Paceman and it looked so much better. Enjoy the car and stay safe......look after MamaPed 🙏👍
Ordered mine with all black badging, emblems and Clubman name. All4 as well as light surrounds also black . Only badging "standard" is the JCW on rear and scuttles. Did have black door handles ordered also. Since they were back ordered when mine was being built, Mini assembly didn't put them on. They took them off the order and built the car with chrome ones . My Clubman is enigmatic black. Solid black roof and mirror caps. Hood scoop is a Mini JCW carbon fiber scoop instead of same as car color. Have black 18" wheels ( like you self centering caps). So I do appreciate that chrome belt line and door handles to break up the all black. Interior all black too . Ordered black lounge leather instead of the JCW seats. Like the feel (smell) memory adjustablity. The choices were many and I think I got most? Pretty much locked down here in the San Francisco area. Have my car since November and still only 2100 miles. Will be big road trip in my future. Stay safe and thanks for a great channel.
I’m glad you bought the Clubman JCW! I was on the list for a gp3 and decided against it to replace my 2018 Mini Clubman JCW with an ordered 2020 MINI Clubman JCW which I received in October of 2019! I love this JCW the best and I’m glad I purchased it as the GP3 was just too weird with the side spats as well as day to day usability. My iPhone also overheats in the wireless charger and my 2018 had same issue.
Awesome video sir my eldest son who’s 4 watched this with me and loves the name. I’d just debadge your clubman. What a epic car sir Pete. Here in Michigan USA we’re on lockdown and out of work for 3 weeks. So I’ll have plenty of time to watch your videos with my kids. Thank u for your videos sir Pete
Watching this, you so did the right thing! You and Charlie will be very happy together - especially as the one thing you don’t like is something you can do something about! Now there’s a reason to socially distance yourself - get some miles in!
Hi Pete, I have the same problem with the wireless charging pad. I had read that it happens when you are using both Wireless Carplay and the wireless charging pad. It also happens to my dad in his new X5 so the best solution is to connect your IPhone with the charging cable.
I recently ordered a Rebel Green Countryman JCW All4 (your review helped immensely, thanks!) with all the chrome bits except for the 19" wheels blacked out. I definitely think it looks best that way. i think removing the CLUBMAN badge letters from the rear would look best on your light-colored car. Now I just have to wait for the COVID-19 shutdown to end, so I can receive and enjoy my new ride. I'll have to continue living vicariously through your channel, so keep up the great work!
With regards to the 'Clubman' on the back - I am a little OCD as well. My husband just called you me in a man suit!! Lucky I love him. With regards to the phone in the console - Like any battery or electronic device it needs air circulating around it to maintain a workable temperature. As there are no moving parts in a phone (fans and such) it requires good air flow around it. When your phone is enclosed in that small space there is no air flowing around it. You can overcome this issue by simply leaving the top of the storage area open. Short of the wireless functionality being in a cooled/ventilated area you will not overcome this issue.
Absolutely debadge it! No way my OCD could handle it not being symmetrical with different numbers of letters on each door! I noticed it before you mentioned it and so glad you then brought it up!
I would assume that debadging would be easy and can be done anytime. You may want to blacken the letters and wait for a few weeks first. Wireless charging does generate a lot of heat and coupled with that closed armrest with no ventilation might be taking the temperature beyond the tipping point.
Just treated my wife to a clubman for her 60th bday prezzie got delivered Monday. I driven it once since she has got it and I’m now looking at getting myself one 😀
Hi Pete, debadge the clubman from the rear doors 100 percent 👍. Remington razor lol, we're showing our age now 😆. Good man, bin the runflats terrible tyres. If you can't get a suitable set of spotlights maybe an led light bar from lazer 😁. Love your new Clubman, colour combination is great, but Ruby still steals my ❤, take care mate be safe 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🏁
Looking forward to the belt line black out video I have the JCW Countryman where everything is black - body, handles, mirrors, headlights, grille, Mini logo, letters, wheels - with the small splashes of red from the brake calipers, vent surrounds, etc But the belt line is still chrome - so have been planning to do that for some time Now that we are locked down I can
Hi ,I Love your New Mini ( Charlie ) as you suggested swapping the Hard riding run flats to improve the ride , Ive just swapped from Pirelli P Zero run flats to Goodyear Asimetric 3 normal tyres on my F56 Cooper , and OMG WHAT A DIFFERENCE, its like a different car .Quiet , softer and no longer Crashing on every tiny bump . Hope you get to change yours soon it will definitely be worth the cost. Ps love the daily vlogs , it's a go to after work. Thanks Paul and stay safe ☀️☀️☀️☀️
Will be buying the jcw clubman very soon the only thing that worried me was there wasn`t a spare tyre so i would have the run flats unless you know of a way round that problem. Love the video thanks.
Debadge all the way imo. There’s a lot going on at the rear end and I think it’ll improve the look significantly. Either way it’s a lovely motor without doubt. 😊
Pete if you struggle with ocd and change the rear badge to black the letters will stand out way more , I would go for de badge if I was you . She’s a very nice clubby btw
Thanks for the advice. I picked up my black Cooper S on Monday, first car I ever drove out of the showroom. I despise the chrome so have been on eBay looking for light surrounds and belt line tape. Not sourced handle covers and fuel cap so I’m off to google mini bitz
@@AbsoluteMiniacGena mini bitz do the gloss black beltline delete and light surounds too. I spec'd my S with piano black exterior and black mini and cooper badging for front and back. Mini doesnt offer beltline delete yet so, bought that from mini bitz. Got the dealership to fit it all before collecting it at the end of Feb. Was my first brand new car too, the 2020 DCT sport auto transmissions is amazing!
Nina B mine is the DCT auto transmission too. I have saved the link to Mini Bitz. Have you got the front grille surround black too? My car was supposed to be with me on the 2nd March on a 20 plate but the Friday before the Monday I was due to collect, I got a phone call from the dealership saying on all the paperwork it was spec’d as a DCT auto... but the salesperson hadn’t clicked it on the computer. She went to fuel it up & check it over...and found it was a manual. They’d had it almost a fortnight and not noticed. Thankfully they ordered another for me and I picked it up Monday 23rd March so it was only 3 weeks later than I expected. I now hope to book a trip to the factory at Oxford, once this Corona🦠 has cleared off.
A couple of de-chromeing tips. Door handles, go for the MINI dealer sourced black ones, surprisingly easy to install. I did all four on my F55 in just over half an hour and that’s only because the first one took 15 mins. The plastic covers available online are cheaper but nowhere near as satisfying. Belt line, I went for the matt which looks far more ‘factory’ than the gloss a few of my mates went for the tip is to fit it in bright sunlight on a relatively warm day, clean first with a good alcohol panel wipe, let the sunshine warm the chrome and you’ll then find the curved sections are far easier to apply. CLUB MAN is a no brainier, I’d of had it removed before I left the showroom. While your at it remove the ‘MINI’ badge from the left tailgate door, the JCW badge on the right tailgate door is sufficient. Lastly the MINI badge on the bonnet remove it and purchase the black gloss version from your MINI dealer. You have the black headlight surrounds from factory which was generous of them, we all had to run down to our local dealer and purchase both the front and rear although I’m now thinking I should of had them colour coded instead?
Also, have a look at getting the JCW Pro Alcantara Flat Bottomed Steering Wheel. Got mine factory fitted - looks and feels unreal. A little pricey but for something you use daily, it's worth the spend in my opinion.
Charlie, Charlie, Charlie, Charlie !! doesn't quite have the same ring to it :D, never the less, another great vid Ped, tempted to change the I 30 N, which I bought after your vid review. Stay safe there & Best Wishes with Charlie ))
Hi Pete. Keep up the videos. I think we may all need them!! So, the JCW. Totally agree on the de chrome. I would personally de badge the rear. As you say, once you’ve seen it!! Stay safe 👍
Love the spec, colours great. Agree that de-chroming those few bits will make a big difference. Love the videos, something great to watch at a crazy time.
nice car, lot of manufacturers seem to put terrible tyres on their cars these days, got an i30N and the pirelli P Zeros are terrible in all but dry conditions, MPS4 are great tyres, good choice, i'll be doing the same
Great video Pete & most welcome during self isolation 👍🏻 1. I’d debadge the back 2. Is your phone in a case - if so try using it without to help with charging heat 3. Did you keep the S4 or chop it in for the Clubman? 4. Don’t forget to get black badges to replace the ‘All 4’
Recognise the roads you used on your drive. Great choice when you want to enjoy a run out in your car just for pleasure. May see you sometime after the crisis is over, I'll be in a yellow italian coupe. Give me a wave. Keep up the good work.
Loved this first drive and a great name too. Shame Mini couldn’t add the spotlights, we love them on ours so would be a good addition if you can get them later. Stay safe and look forward to seeing her again on here when you’re able to.
Yes Peter, we have the same issue with that exact wireless charging cradle in our bmw. Even after about half an hour it gets so hot i just remove it to not damage the phone. A few other people have also mentioned this. Not sure if bmw/mini is working on a fix. Also i just put those epic Michelin PS4's on my cooper S Bayswater, transformed the car from its standard conti runflats!
Great name for the Clubbie. It’s great to have a stablemate fir Ruby Roadster. And also great that Ruby is staying, after all the work you did to her. The Clubman is my favourite F series MINI. Would definitely debadge the Clubman name from the rear doors. It’s a much cleaner look. Enjoy the new car. And stay safe.
I like the mods you suggested. Doing the de-chroming yourself will be a good learning experience, & satisfying when it's done. If Mrs petrol ped will be using the car often; keep the mods within what she would be comfortable with.
Never driven a new mini but must say due to your videos I’m tempted to take your model for a test drive. You’ve driven many great cars and I respect your opinions so it must be very good for you to praise it so much and actually buy one. Love the name and reference to Top Gun too 😉
First of all,, stay safe you guys, far more important than anything else,,,, that said, great ‘first drive’ vid Pete. Thanks to your vids and recommend I’ve had mine now for a couple of weeks, and LOVING it. One of the best ‘all in one’ I’ve owned and driven. So good I can’t remember the last time I fired up the Range Rover,,,,,,,, keep up the good work, but stay safe.
It’s a really smart car. My wife’s F54 Cooper S is good fun. Gloss black looks nice, but if you have OCD on details where do you stop? The Mini, JCW, All4 badges? Personally - not start with the 6 handles in gloss black. The chrome belt line serves as a dividing line. Maybe do that later? (Although my wife’s F54 is all black so a chrome line might look better). I’d also keep the Clubman script (possibly gloss black) as it adds that mini modern retro look. Without it the back could look unbalanced, unless you completely debadge the back?
I just love your new car ! LOVE her name ....I dropped Ms Luna off for a service last Friday ....thought/hoped they would loan me a clubby....nope didn’t get one they give me a new 3 series BMW in white with body kit , a gorgeous looking car that glided on the roads, and the tech inside was full on enjoyed it for the day ...a nice car for sure ! ......but not a mini ! .. Can’t be doing with the run flats, hate them !
Great vid yet again Mr Ped the name is great and also I am a great fan of a debadge not a complete debadge though it would look perfect with the JCW only on the back as you know it will transform the look and you have time to do it seeing you are at home on lockdown.
What a massive car compared to Ruby ,Great car nearly bought a 1.5 cooper clubman last year for 7500 just missed it ,love the style,i think Mini should go Touring cars VOLVO ?.I think Minis look better than Beemers, you get a great spec on a standard Clubman
Hello PP Great video .... in regards to mods I would like to recommend the following: 1/Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs 2/Michelin Pilot Sport but look to increase the profile opt for 235/40/19 3/Eibach hubcentric spacers 20mm 4/Tint the front 2 windows 5/Dechrome belt line eBay sell 6 door handles for £149.00 6/order the new mini I logo in black for front and rear and also the black lettering works really well Regards Christopher
Pete, the car is amazing, very pleased right from the reveal. As for the rear badge thing, I’d just blacken them out if you do anything. I’d want everyone to know what kind of a Mini it is. Have fun and keep safe!
I have a Clubman and I have the wireless charging. It does get hot over time. The reason is because it is an enclosed space. If you buy a wireless QI charger for your desk, the instructions always say not to used in an enclosed space. BUT BMW have kind of thought of this as the wireless charging plate you have there is exactly the same as you can get in any BMW and it has (like all the others) a little fan underneath it that is supposed to vent the heat out the side of the console. Clearly it's way too small If you left the cubby lid open, it would not get hot (but you would keep banging your elbow on the open lid) As for the tyres, when I test drove for mine, I tried with both 18" and 19" wheels and the difference was night and day even though they both had run flats. My Clubman has 18" Continental Run Flats on and is is near silent (and very sticky in the corners)
I had the C in my suggestion...I like top gun too so Charlie works for me !!! I’m sure your extra glad you cancelled the GP3 with the financial turmoil and unforeseen consequences of it. Take care and be safe all👍🏻🇨🇦
Hello again Peter! Your videos make me want to buy a Clubman simply because of your delight with them. As for the chrome/black, I have to admit that I like chrome when used carefully so I probably would leave the belt line and handles but the rear “CLUB MAN” badge needs some thought...how about replacing it with a “CHARLEY” decal in black with identical font and size to go on one door? I will have a better look at one when we are allowed out...let’s hope it is not too long though.🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻😳😀😀😀
Fabulous car love the colour hope you have many fun years of driving. You and your wife take care in these difficult times, looking forward to seeing more videos with Charlie.
I am seriously thinking of buying the regular Cooper S sport version to replace my A6. Even the regular version is good fun and a joy to drive and it is surprisingly sensible. I was thinking of another A6 but I don't need such a big car now and I like the idea of something which is practical enough and also a hoot to drive.
@@PetrolPed At the moment it looks like it will either be a Clubman or a Countryman. Good news is my wife wants to go for a Mini but she prefers the Countryman for being more upright and a bit bigger inside. I prefer the lower slung sports-car like handling of the Clubman and think the space is fine. They are both excellent cars so in a sense it's a win-win dilemma but I definitely prefer the Clubman. The driving position is like being in a sportscar and the low slung design allows for tight body control without losing all comfort even without active dampers (I find some SUVs really do throw comfort to the wind to get car like body control). And the Clubman has perfectly usable rear seats and a decent boot. Here's hoping!
Glad you're enjoying your Clubman. I'm also unsure about the Continental R/Flats on the 19" alloys on ours. I'll probably switch to P-Zeros when I need to change them since they're available in a matching size as run-flats. I've had them on my Leon Cupra 300 (which the Clubman replaced) and a BMW 5-Series and they were superb. Keep up the good work! (Nice choice of colour on yours - we have the same...!)
A) I’d debadge because I’ve got the same ocd as you; 4-3 letters is just an eyesore to me. B) Apple heat throttle is an issue know also to me. My iPad complains if I use it on the terrasse during sunny summerdays.
Pete, I have the identical model to yours, same spec and colour, I absolutly love the car. What I cant understand the only difference is the tyres, mine was first registered in November 19 there was no option on run flats it came with Continential tyres plus a puncture repair pack with liquid injection sealer. I would have gone for run flats if I had the option.
Good choice sir nice Mini. I have 2018 clubman s all4 and yes I have same problem with the phone charging the iPhone gets really hot , dealer check the charge and told me everything it’s ok my phone service provider check phone and everything is ok . But the iPhone it’s overheating almost all the time. I am at USA and on my Clubman I have a Pirelli tires all season and yes I love it . you will have a lots of fun with your new car you make good decision .
Wireless (Induction) charging will always generate heat (like induction cooking). The longer it is there the more the heat - as it cannot dissipate it easily
Eventuri Air Filter? Apparently you can get the Head Up Display in the GP3 with the Touring pack... TGE got it with his.. Looking forward to more content with this, can wait to get mine!! Lots of deals out there with this and I think they will get better.
Petrol Ped ... He does mention it, 6:18 in... on his collection video... but looking at the car in his video, no, there isn’t one if it’s the traditional mini hud. If it a BMW one 🤷🏾♂️, can’t tell.... Q&A sounds great!
Personally would black the belt line but would colour code the head, taillight and handles. Would delete the clubman and perhaps do something with the jcw badge.
Yeah, got the same car, and my iPhone Xs also gets very hot in the wireless charger (and shut down once because of it). Don't know why, but it is annoying. Anyway, great video and stay safe mate!
Ditch the badges .... the black handles will be good but a lot of work involved and not cheap! Name is class. A point re tyres .... if you plan to go for non run flat, in my experience if you then choose to rely on the recovery services to get you home as no spare, they will refuse to pick you up. I researched this and discovered that statement ..... spare wheel purchased 👍

Buy the digital drivers gauge screen and retrofit it.
I love the colour, spec and the name. I would just delete Clubman badge. Definitely agree on the tyres. Run flats are better than they used to be, but still like fitting steel toe caps on a running shoe.
Be safe and do want you can 👍 we will be here with you.
Thanks Andy 🙏
Cheers Trevor. I need to keep the vids coming, even though add revenue is falling through the floor, to keep my amazing Peddlerz sane 😂
When i bought my FK8 it put a massive smile on my face. When i get into my car now 18 months later it still puts a smile on my face, that's when you know its the right car. So i understand when you talk about putting a smile on your face. Have lots of fun in the new car Pete hope you and the family stay safe.
That is great to hear 👍
I'm in the de-badge camp. If you're noticing the letters in chrome, it will be even worse in black. Regarding the de-chrome I'm probably in the minority as I don't mind the chrome. Get what you're saying about the other trim being black however I think a little chrome looks fine and it ties in with the polished faces of the wheels. Stay safe and enjoy the drive.

Thanks for your comments about tires. They can definitely make or break the performance of a sport vehicle.

Here in New Zealand, are Closing Down in the next 48 hours.
Everyone home.....
Take care where ever you are.
We went into full lockdown last night 😜
I feel the need , the need for speed. Glad you are happy Pete. 1. My Samsung S10 gets hot in the case when lead connected to Android Auto. 2 get graphics made up , same font as rear letters ,in red, split the middle letter across the doors. Good plan 👍
White silver is my favourite Mini colour. With the red roof it looks stunning
Thank you 🙏
So, the correct call-sign would be: Juliet Charlie Whiskey… i’m getting one next week mainly due your review! Cheers! (From Portugal).
I bought Clubman JCW at 16,Mar 2022. This is wonderful car with Black roof and White pepper body. I’m enjoying like you. Thank you for the important informations,

Thank you. Thank you for making such quality and fun-to-watch videos.
This was my first time watching your channel, and I have to say that it is a hidden gem!
You just earned yourself a new subscriber, keep it up!
Wow Kelvin, great to hear you like what you see. Thanks for the Sub and welcome to the channel 👏
Thanks for the heads up 👍
Ordered mine with all black badging, emblems and Clubman name.
Your car sounds lovely 👌
Gee thanks for pointing out the Clubman issue, I will never unsee that now ! I would get rid.
My pleasure 😂
I’m glad you bought the Clubman JCW! I was on the list for a gp3 and decided against it to replace my 2018 Mini Clubman JCW with an ordered 2020 MINI Clubman JCW which I received in October of 2019! I love this JCW the best and I’m glad I purchased it as the GP3 was just too weird with the side spats as well as day to day usability. My iPhone also overheats in the wireless charger and my 2018 had same issue.
We sound very similar 😜👍
I’m your doppelgänger in the states! This is my 15th MINI. Have you had any weird transmission moments?
Awesome video sir my eldest son who’s 4 watched this with me and loves the name. I’d just debadge your clubman. What a epic car sir Pete. Here in Michigan USA we’re on lockdown and out of work for 3 weeks. So I’ll have plenty of time to watch your videos with my kids. Thank u for your videos sir Pete
We went to full lockdown last night 😪
Watching this, you so did the right thing! You and Charlie will be very happy together - especially as the one thing you don’t like is something you can do something about! Now there’s a reason to socially distance yourself - get some miles in!
Cheers Bud 👍
Thanks Duane. You new car sounds fab. I do like Rebel Green. Such a great name for a colour 👏
Thanks for this 👍
Absolutely debadge it!
Awesome 👏
Hi Pete, debadge the clubman from the rear doors 100 percent 👍. Remington razor lol, we're showing our age now 😆. Good man, bin the runflats terrible tyres. If you can't get a suitable set of spotlights maybe an led light bar from lazer 😁. Love your new Clubman, colour combination is great, but Ruby still steals my ❤, take care mate be safe 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🏁
Looking forward to the belt line black out video
I have the JCW Countryman where everything is black - body, handles, mirrors, headlights, grille, Mini logo, letters, wheels - with the small splashes of red from the brake calipers, vent surrounds, etc
But the belt line is still chrome - so have been planning to do that for some time
Now that we are locked down I can
Coming to the channel very soon 👍
Thanks Paul. Incredible difference isn't it 👏
Will be buying the jcw clubman very soon the only thing that worried me was there wasn`t a spare tyre so i would have the run flats unless you know of a way round that problem. Love the video thanks.
Runs flats or proper tyres and a can of gunk ;-)
Suggest de-badging the clubman, will look cleaner. Maybe look at smoked glass for the front lights. Great looking Mini.
Thanks 👍
Debadge all the way imo. There’s a lot going on at the rear end and I think it’ll improve the look significantly.
Either way it’s a lovely motor without doubt. 😊
Cheers 👍
Pete if you struggle with ocd and change the rear badge to black the letters will stand out way more , I would go for de badge if I was you . She’s a very nice clubby btw
For the handles you could look into some clip on covers for them. I've just got a set from 'mini bitz' for my 3 door f56 Cooper S
Were they good quality ?
@@PetrolPed Yep i got mine there too, plus petrol cap for F56 Cooper S LCI. Get the Piano Black - looks great!
The armrest was originally designed for smaller phones with matched plug in cradles. So it’s not got vents I reckon to actually vent the heat away
Welcome Charlie! Always good to see my favourite roads, and I've never understood why MINI spoil brilliant cars with awful tyres from the factory.
Me either 😕
Want one of these next, currently have a 2016 F56 Cooper D in BRG. Love the wheels and yes dechrome it and get driving lamps! 👍
Cheers Jamie 👍
You have the black headlight surrounds from factory which was generous of them, we all had to run down to our local dealer and purchase both the front and rear although I’m now thinking I should of had them colour coded instead?
...and we all have heating issues with the wireless charging, it never fully charges either.
Thanks for this. Very useful 👍
Get these lamps for Charlie's face!! 2, 4, high, low, wide or close to the middle, just tops it off!
Also, have a look at getting the JCW Pro Alcantara Flat Bottomed Steering Wheel. Got mine factory fitted - looks and feels unreal. A little pricey but for something you use daily, it's worth the spend in my opinion.
That is one thing I would have liked 👍
Charlie, Charlie, Charlie, Charlie !! doesn't quite have the same ring to it :D, never the less, another great vid Ped, tempted to change the I 30 N, which I bought after your vid review. Stay safe there & Best Wishes with Charlie ))
LOL 😂
Hi Pete. Keep up the videos. I think we may all need them!! So, the JCW. Totally agree on the de chrome. I would personally de badge the rear. As you say, once you’ve seen it!! Stay safe 👍
Cheers Steve 👍
Love the new name. Try Bilstine 8 shocks with the new tires, it will improve ride and feedback through your tires
Love the spec, colours great. Agree that de-chroming those few bits will make a big difference. Love the videos, something great to watch at a crazy time.
nice car, lot of manufacturers seem to put terrible tyres on their cars these days, got an i30N and the pirelli P Zeros are terrible in all but dry conditions, MPS4 are great tyres, good choice, i'll be doing the same
For me they are the best out there 👍
Great video Pete & most welcome during self isolation 👍🏻
1. I’d debadge the back
2. Is your phone in a case - if so try using it without to help with charging heat
3. Did you keep the S4 or chop it in for the Clubman?
4. Don’t forget to get black badges to replace the ‘All 4’
1. Yep
2. No, not in a case
3. No, still got the S4
4. Not thought of that 😜
De-Badge Peter , Loving the new Car .. It will look fab with the black surrounds .
Cheers Lee 👍
If your OCD just get rid of the rear badging. The blacked out chrome work along with blacked out wheels would look awesome.
Check out the videos on my channel. Belt line and door handles now black. Clubman badge has gone 👍
Recognise the roads you used on your drive. Great choice when you want to enjoy a run out in your car just for pleasure. May see you sometime after the crisis is over, I'll be in a yellow italian coupe. Give me a wave. Keep up the good work.
Will do 👍
Loved this first drive and a great name too. Shame Mini couldn’t add the spotlights, we love them on ours so would be a good addition if you can get them later. Stay safe and look forward to seeing her again on here when you’re able to.
Thanks Lorraine. I have a few videos planned that I can do with Charlie while we are on lockdown 👍
This sounds like a big problem !
Cheers Derek 👍
I like the mods you suggested. Doing the de-chroming yourself will be a good learning experience, & satisfying when it's done. If Mrs petrol ped will be using the car often; keep the mods within what she would be comfortable with.
Yep, great advice if I want to stay married 😜😂😂
Thanks for the video Pete. Keep 'em coming if you can. Stay safe. Cheers.
Will do 👍
My for set car was named Charlie because of top gun!!!! Awesome
A lovely car, especially in white 😉
Dechromed, Clubman badge removed and decent tyres are deffo the way to go.
Never driven a new mini but must say due to your videos I’m tempted to take your model for a test drive. You’ve driven many great cars and I respect your opinions so it must be very good for you to praise it so much and actually buy one. Love the name and reference to Top Gun too 😉
Mate...for the money it is right up there. I'd have it over a Golf R, S3, M135i any day 👍👍
First of all,, stay safe you guys, far more important than anything else,,,, that said, great ‘first drive’ vid Pete.
That is great to hear 👍
It’s a really smart car. My wife’s F54 Cooper S is good fun.
Gloss black looks nice, but if you have OCD on details where do you stop? The Mini, JCW, All4 badges?
Personally - not start with the 6 handles in gloss black. The chrome belt line serves as a dividing line. Maybe do that later? (Although my wife’s F54 is all black so a chrome line might look better).
I’d also keep the Clubman script (possibly gloss black) as it adds that mini modern retro look. Without it the back could look unbalanced, unless you completely debadge the back?
Thanks for this 👍
I just love your new car !
Discovered you through one of Tiff's videos. My new travelling companion through the Covid lockdown.
That is great to hear Trev. Welcome to the channel 👍
Great vid yet again Mr Ped the name is great and also I am a great fan of a debadge not a complete debadge though it would look perfect with the JCW only on the back as you know it will transform the look and you have time to do it seeing you are at home on lockdown.
Plenty of time on my hands now !
What a massive car compared to Ruby ,Great car nearly bought a 1.5 cooper clubman last year for 7500 just missed it ,love the style,i think Mini should go Touring cars VOLVO ?.I think Minis look better than Beemers, you get a great spec on a standard Clubman
Change lettering on rear to man cub. Sorted!
Hello PP
Great video .... in regards to mods I would like to recommend the following:
1/Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs
2/Michelin Pilot Sport but look to increase the profile opt for 235/40/19
3/Eibach hubcentric spacers 20mm
4/Tint the front 2 windows
5/Dechrome belt line eBay sell 6 door handles for £149.00
6/order the new mini I logo in black for front and rear and also the black lettering works really well
Regards
Christopher
Great suggestions Christopher. Thank you 👍
Great review ..... and yes my iPhone gets hot as well in our Cooper S
Thank you for the positivity - great car!
I do my best 😜
Remus exhaust ??? Lowering springs & wheel spacers....
Lovely car, great video.
Pete, the car is amazing, very pleased right from the reveal. As for the rear badge thing, I’d just blacken them out if you do anything. I’d want everyone to know what kind of a Mini it is. Have fun and keep safe!
Cheers Alan 👍
I have a Clubman and I have the wireless charging. It does get hot over time.
The reason is because it is an enclosed space. If you buy a wireless QI charger for your desk, the instructions always say not to used in an enclosed space.
BUT
BMW have kind of thought of this as the wireless charging plate you have there is exactly the same as you can get in any BMW and it has (like all the others) a little fan underneath it that is supposed to vent the heat out the side of the console. Clearly it's way too small
If you left the cubby lid open, it would not get hot (but you would keep banging your elbow on the open lid)
As for the tyres, when I test drove for mine, I tried with both 18" and 19" wheels and the difference was night and day even though they both had run flats.
Take care and be safe all👍🏻🇨🇦
Oh yes...for sure 😳
Hello again Peter! Your videos make me want to buy a Clubman simply because of your delight with them. As for the chrome/black, I have to admit that I like chrome when used carefully so I probably would leave the belt line and handles but the rear “CLUB MAN” badge needs some thought...how about replacing it with a “CHARLEY” decal in black with identical font and size to go on one door? I will have a better look at one when we are allowed out...let’s hope it is not too long though.🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻😳😀😀😀
Totally love the colour and spec. Yes I agree on the de chrome and would remove the Clubman lettering. Excellent choice of name, sounds class 😉👍🏻
Fabulous car love the colour hope you have many fun years of driving. You and your wife take care in these difficult times, looking forward to seeing more videos with Charlie.
Thanks Michael. Take care yourself 👍
I think that would be perfect. The Cooper S is a hoot to drive. Much easier round town than an A6 and still a practical motor 👍
Congrats with your stunning Mini! Love it!
Debadge for sure...
Cheers Dominique 👍
Glad you're enjoying your Clubman. I'm also unsure about the Continental R/Flats on the 19" alloys on ours. I'll probably switch to P-Zeros when I need to change them since they're available in a matching size as run-flats. I've had them on my Leon Cupra 300 (which the Clubman replaced) and a BMW 5-Series and they were superb. Keep up the good work! (Nice choice of colour on yours - we have the same...!)
Cheers Jonathan 👍
A) I’d debadge because I’ve got the same ocd as you; 4-3 letters is just an eyesore to me. B) Apple heat throttle is an issue know also to me. My iPad complains if I use it on the terrasse during sunny summerdays.
Pete, I have the identical model to yours, same spec and colour, I absolutly love the car. What I cant understand the only difference is the tyres, mine was first registered in November 19 there was no option on run flats it came with Continential tyres plus a puncture repair pack with liquid injection sealer. I would have gone for run flats if I had the option.
The dechroming I’m sure will look good and will fit in with the rest of the car, this is making me interested in a clubman myself for next car change
I definately recommend you go and drive one 👍
Good choice sir nice Mini. I have 2018 clubman s all4 and yes I have same problem with the phone charging the iPhone gets really hot , dealer check the charge and told me everything it’s ok my phone service provider check phone and everything is ok . But the iPhone it’s overheating almost all the time. I am at USA and on my Clubman I have a Pirelli tires all season and yes I love it . you will have a lots of fun with your new car you make good decision .
I just think it is a problem with induction charging and wireless Apple CarPlay working at the same time 😪
Great video Pete, stunning mini, looks and sounds amazing 👌😀
Thanks Shaun 🙏
Wireless (Induction) charging will always generate heat (like induction cooking). The longer it is there the more the heat - as it cannot dissipate it easily
Better to use wired charging? Even at home?
Put the CLUBMAN writing under the works badge on the right rear door,Chris
Eventuri Air Filter?
Apparently you can get the Head Up Display in the GP3 with the Touring pack... TGE got it with his.. Looking forward to more content with this, can wait to get mine!! Lots of deals out there with this and I think they will get better.
No HUD in TGEs car. It was not an option and not part of the Touring Pack 👍
Hi Ped
Welcome to Charlie🥰🥰Great thinking, great choice, loved that film.👍 Debadge without a doubt, will tidy up that cute rear end.😉
Thanks Philip. I trust you guys are OK. Stay safe my friend 👍
Yeah, got the same car, and my iPhone Xs also gets very hot in the wireless charger (and shut down once because of it). Don't know why, but it is annoying. Anyway, great video and stay safe mate!
Glad its not just me 😂
Ditch the badges .... the black handles will be good but a lot of work involved and not cheap! Name is class. A point re tyres .... if you plan to go for non run flat, in my experience if you then choose to rely on the recovery services to get you home as no spare, they will refuse to pick you up. I researched this and discovered that statement ..... spare wheel purchased 👍
Loose the "CLUB MAN" fit Red Alloy Gators and keep the wheels.. Great Videos..
Wipac Hair Raiser driving lights. That’s what we fitted to an old mini 1000.
