im on my 4th epic mount. no gdkps. just farming. i have a JC/Ench/Alc/ENG. My two mains are farmers. Druid/Hunter. And my 2 other alts have the professions. I bet some of them def bought gold. but its totally doable. and i farm 2-3 hours a day. can easily make 1k g/day. flipping materials. i sell mostly flasks, hunter ammo, living ruby cuts (all). i sold a +8 agi gem for 200g. someone bought it lol. ohh my point! not everyone buys gold. with good operations, you make money just playing. oh and i only lvl alts with rested exp lol.
i did it myself, but its really strange how beeing smart at goldmaking became its own little mini game in wow.

i cant believe how much gdkp is in TBC. it's amolst more common than actual people lookin for raids. i've never done one and never will. i just dont think it's a viable system. in classic molten core, my guild had a loot system where each boss gave 40 points and you bet your points on gear, surely thats a more viable and fair system?

GDKP's wouldn't be bad if all the gold earned was your own. Would mean more when someone's dropping their bank on an item rather than someone just throwing down their checkbook. Literally allows buying of power.

So long as you don't get your items from GDKP, it's fine though. On my server, 4k gold would be enough to get all gems and enchants for a full raid tier, and probably a month (or more) worth of consumes.
The one public GDKP here though has minimum bids for 200g. Nowhere near as much as this. 2k minimum bid basically means only active goblins, and gold buyers really have access to being a buyer in these runs.

Unfortunately thanks to botting, gold is as cheap as $8 per 1k which is INSANE. Why would anyone spend 3-4 hours farming 1k when they can just drop "Large Big Mac" meal money on it.

@TinyHC yeah, all that botting and gold buying facilitating this is real fun and super healthy for the game. The dictatorship deflection for basic criticism was a nice touch though, very reasonable and not at all exaggerated.
