GDKP is such a joykilling way to play the game. Bringing p2w elements into a game we're supposed to love and play for the nostalgia.. People doesn't seem to understand that you can join a guild that's just semi-decent and you'll eventually get your gear. I personally played warlock in a non-sweaty guild and even everyone got their bis items eventually. Games are about progressing and having fun along the way doing so, skipping that part seems soulless to me.
What does it matter to you on how someone else plays the game?

This is why when people say they "don't want to play again because they will be so far behind gold/resource wise" I tell them it doesn't matter. literally everyone who isn't buying gold is behind unless you are really grinding it out. Gold buying and botting is still so rampant in TBC is embarrassing. Make a toon for GDKPs and get your laundered gold hand outs like everyone else and you'll have plenty of money to do thing thing you want to do in the game so long as you goal isn't to outbid the credit cards.

Not as easy as it sounds. Alot of GDKP's are tough to get into. It's the same people running them over and over with 5-6 toons spreading the gold around amongst themselves with very little room for someone looking for a payday.
Then actually play the game and don't buy your items....
Isn't most of the game about gearing? If you just buy your gold then buy bis gear from GDKPs with it. There is not much left to play after that. There is no way that anyone who buys their gear is skilled enough to get Gladiator (unless they use gold to get that too).
Big part of the, if not most of the game is grinding it out with your guild, random pugs etc...
Note, using the gold to buy consumes is a different thing though, That i see as a time saving measure.
It really req you to find a stable Guild where you can get a raid spot every week. And by this time it's almost impossible unless you are a special class like resto shaman so on. Try find a Guild that are going to give you a stable raid spot as rogue or war in only pre raid bis... 99% impossible. So it's very hard for new players. And as someone mentioned Gdkps are hard to get into unless you buy gold. It's freaking like 7.5k g minimum just to join some of those fkrs... But yeah maybe when wotlk come a lot of new people./ Guilds will start up and there people can try get lucky and find a spot. And also if you are gonna make gold and not buying it its 99% req to either have a mage , prot pally or blood dk to make just so, so gold from AOE farming stuff in the open world. Or if u are really good and know the AH prices and what will sell higher later phases u can make a lot there. But yeah sadly most people buy gold or use bots to farm with. The worst part about the gdkp as someone said is that it's like 1 guy with 7 alts that keeps running the raids and circle the gold between himself and friends. But yeah I guess that's what you get in classic. From my 14 years + on p-vanilla wow servers I (NEVER) had any of these problems. Almost no if any Gdkps at all and people didn't buy gold. Just good old normal raids with dkp or Ms/os :) but i guess those days are over, at least if you are playing classic.
And you wonder where that gold comes from. Classic tbc isn't setup to have that much gold in flow.
Makes me pretty happy that I have a raiding guild to be in lol.

crazy how much extra ppl are willing to pay for GDKP items just todo it in a "streamer" raid an get the clout from it. 300k for set of glavies, most sets are 200K ish an 20k for Shadow Boots, i bought them for 6k week 2. everything in those streamer GDKPs are wayy more then in a normal GDKP

We had a TK/SSC raid where a rogue spent 90k and they had communal gear. didn't say a single word the whole time, I assume them to be foreign gold farmer.
Had a rogue do the same thing, not a single word, afk almost the entire raid, outbid every single person on the items he need. We were even making fun of him on discord but he had 0 reaction
100% gold buyers. I mean when no one knows them on the server but they show up with a 200k purse for a gdkp you know sht is off. But to be fair i think A LOT of players buy gold these days so there's that I guess.

how is it a robbery? its % based, u expect the people coming to raid gets just as much as the raidleader who recruits, make sure buyers have gold, makes sure everything runs smooth and the boosters aren't wasting their time with buyers who have 0 gold and theres enough to bid eachother up?
its 25 people in raid, how is that not a fair split? 150/25 is just 6k per person. after everything is added up 10k seems accurate.

No one who farm, lets say, 20k gold, auctioning, farming open world or dungeons are going to spend 20k on an item. Only the gold buyers and the GDKPers that get gold from them.

@@voriq5879 Bots are impossible to ban and keep out. Not a single game has been able to successfully get rid of bots. I like to bring up Runescape as an example, both games. The devs has been fighting bots for 2 decades and hasn't been able to stop them.
You can compare TBC to private servers all you want but here's a few problems with doing it though.
1. Private servers already sell gold/item so there's no need. If they don't, buying/selling/botting gold on a server that isn't going to last is a waste of time. It's not as lucrative.
2. Private servers population are less than a 10th of actual TBC. It's easy to handle a problem when it's scaled down to practically nothing.

OLD WOMAN: Oh, go ahead, little fella. (Donkey stays silent).

The guards grab the old woman and she struggles with them. One of her legs flies out and kicks Tinkerbell out of Peter Pan's hands, and her cage drops on Donkey's head. He gets sprinkled with fairy dust and starts floating upwards.
DONKEY: Hey! I can fly!
PETER PAN: He can fly!
THREE LITTLE PIGS: He can fly!
THE CAPTAIN: He can talk?!
DONKEY: Ha, ha! That's right, fool! Now I'm a flying, talking donkey. You might have seen a housefly, maybe even a superfly but I bet you ain't never seen a donkey fly. Ha, ha! (The pixie dust's effects begin to wear off) Uh-oh. (He drops out of the air and hits the ground with a thud.)
THE CAPTAIN: Seize him!
Donkey dodges the guards as they try to grab him and runs deeper into the forest.
GUARDS: He's getting away! Get him! This way! Turn!
Donkey keeps running and he eventually runs head first into Shrek's backside. Shrek turns around to see who bumped into him and glares down at Donkey. Donkey looks scared of Shrek for a moment, but he quickly hides him after seeing that the guards have caught up to him.
THE CAPTAIN: You there. Ogre!
SHREK: Aye?
THE CAPTAIN: By the order of Lord Farquaad, I am authorized to place you both under arrest and...(Shrek slowly approaches the group of guards, the guards visibly frightened by him) transport you to... a designated...resettlement...facility?
SHREK: Oh, really? You and what army? (Smiles)
