  • I got this fantastic piece of Americana and decided to restore it. If you want to know more about the American Pencil Sharpener Company, the Made in Chicago Museum has a great write-up about it. www.madeinchic...

Wonderful job you did restoring the old pencil sharpener. I have never seen one like that before. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work.

A brilliant restoration, however back in the day it must have took forever to sharpen a pencil. I can see where the pencil sharpeners in the 60's and 70's when I grew up originated from, once again a brilliant restoration.

I am a little disappointed in the performance. After the restoration I expected it to take more pencil off with each stroke of the blade. I have a plan to address it, but I didn't want to wait any longer to publish the video.

I was going to close the video when I heard talking at the beginning. With haste I almost did too, but didn't.
    Good job!

Thanks for the feedback. I tried to keep the talking to a minimum. But I've also been asked for more explanation, so hopefully the subtitles help without being too distracting.

Nicely done, smallest items are always the hardest 👍👍

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll see if I can add some subtitles in parts.

I think this device is an old model, and you didn't mentioned the production year?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm afraid I don't know the exact year. The patent date on it is 1906, so it was after that. I suspect within 10-20 years of that date.

I always liked the way this style gives a faceted point instead of the standard completely rounded.

Thanks for the comment. I like that about it too. I feel like I need to do something important with my pencil after I sharpen it.

I LOVE this project! The nickel plated parts look better than factory new after beong polished. The coating you used is very sturdy and trustworthy. And the part you made yourself took a lot pf effort and care. Great job! 👏
