    Great video. Being a new-be @ 73 I was able to understand the working of your product and the sketch as presented. Thanks you

    Thank you! The video solved my issue. I always got 0 on the monitor because I got the wrong version in the library.

    I have a similar kit, where this is lesson 13, but everything else is the same. I followed your directions exactly, including getting the newer version of irreceiver. however, nothing comes up on the monitor! there was a plastic strip between the battery and the remote contact, so I'm guessing the battery is good. I went so far s to check it with a volt/ohm meter and that showed it was good too. any ideas?

      Do you know that IR recievers frequency? 0:26

    • @rickmorenojr
      @rickmorenojr  5 лет назад

      The Elegoo tutorial has the IR frequncy list as 38KHz and 900 to 1000 nm wavelength LEDs. If you go to Elegoo's web site, you can download the complete tutorial for free.

    It keeps printing as other button and the value changes every time and I don't think I've got the same number twice at all.

    i have the exact same kit

      Put the remote closer to the IR receiver. Put it closer to your setup

    When your code, I get different IR codes for the SAME button I press if I press it over and over again. How do I fix this?

    • @jamesstark4136
      @jamesstark4136 3 года назад

      If you are using the remote that came with box, and doing it exactly how did, (Including installing latest version of library) it should be the same every time. At the very least I only used 4 buttons with actual Hex addresses, but I made sure to add the repeat function and the default print lines and it works. However if like me you used the supplied code before coming here you may have to delete all of that and do it from this video.

      Also try different wires. I have noticed that some of the M/F wires in the kit don't always provide a solid connection. I was seeing the same thing and also tested the battery, etc. Then swapped the wires out and it work as it should.

    Hi. Do you know how get the code from a remote you don't know so you can replicate? I.e. you want to copy your own garage door. Or you are locksmith and want to brute force the car gate

    So I did this however when I powered my ir sensor it started getting hot and then made a weird smell... would recommend using a resistor instead of connecting directly to ground

    • @rickmorenojr
      @rickmorenojr  5 лет назад

      Are you using the IR sensor from the Elegoo kit? The kit includes an IR sensor and remote. I suspect that some aftermarket IR sensors are only good for 3.3 volts.

    • @sam-po7rx
      @sam-po7rx 5 лет назад

      Ricardo Moreno yes it was the one I got from the kit... even with a 220ohm resistor on it stopped working after a half hour of use so I might of just had a dodgy sensor. I have got a new sensor on order will update you if that works any better.

      I think mine broke at 5v as well. It got hot and then the light went out,
      anyone reading this definitely connect to a lower voltage or add a resistor lol. It will save you buying another one.

    • @d3bbi339
      @d3bbi339 5 лет назад

      Btw I had the one that came with the elegoo kit. The kit is still awesome as hell tho and I would recommend to anyone who wants to start with arduino but doesn't want to spend twice as much for an arduino kit.

  • @d3bbi339
    @d3bbi339 5 лет назад

    Hmmm I used the code and the serial monitor showed the startup message but when I press buttons they dont go through? I have the same elegoo remote as the one in the video. I will keep trying to figure this out! I know my remote works because the infrared light shows up when I look at it through my camera... I think my receiver is broken.. its gotta be.. everything else works like its supposed to plus I copy and pasted the code and it compiled fine haha. I know I wired it right too so idk.

    • @rickmorenojr
      @rickmorenojr  5 лет назад

      Assuming that you are first trying the tutorial, there's only three wires to connect. Hopefully you've wired it up correctly. There's no need to copy and paste. Simply open up the Elegoo tutorial's provided .ino file. Lastly, the battery in the remote could be weak.

    • @d3bbi339
      @d3bbi339 5 лет назад

      Yeah it's broken. I just bought a new one. Thanks anyway man!

      @@d3bbi339 do you see a plastic piece on the back of the IR remote under the ELEGOO name, if you pull it out then it will allow for current to pas through and thus you it should be working.

    Please help. Every time I try to upload the code I get a message "exit status 1". This also happened with half the other lessons. What do I do?

    • @rickmorenojr
      @rickmorenojr  6 лет назад

      Just to be sure I understand correctly, you are getting an error message 'exit status 1' when you try to open the sketch IR_Receiver_Module.ino in the Arduino IDE?

    • @jeffjones842
      @jeffjones842 6 лет назад

      Yes, correct.

    • @rickmorenojr
      @rickmorenojr  6 лет назад

      An exit status of 1 means that there was a problem compiling, linking, or uploading some code. Make sure you have the latest Arduino IDE, version 1.8.5. Make sure that you've Download and Unzipped the tutorial lessons. If you having issues compiling, set your Preferences to verbose output for compile and upload. A description of the exact error will be present. Also, try one of the build-in examples to make sure your Arduino IDE is working correctly.
