I was raised by 2 alcoholics and guess what? I became an alcoholic also. I've been sober for 7 years, about 20% of my adult life. My behavior when drinking was abhorrent and only by the grace of God did no one die. I drove my beautiful fun loving son many times intoxicated and I think about how frightening it must have been for him at times. God forgive me.

@@carnifaxxThis is true but women have that biological imperative so the best society can do is adopt the "it takes a village" concept... And it may sound strange to us from a legalistic society but the best solution in a case like that is just to let a more responsible relative or even friend raise the child, while the parent is still involved from whatever distance they're emotionally and intellectually responsible enough to be... This was the practice in nearly all Native American nations and their social structures are remarkable in that child abuse and things like s abuse of children were all but non-existent... The adults who would do things like that were almost invariably banished from the group and while that's not a prison term it is practically a death sentence since the person would be completely vulnerable to everything around them without a social structure......

@@klz9500Did you watch the video and see how reckless the grandmother was? The granddaughter has a family history of alcoholism at least two generations deep on her mother's side. She needs to be raised in a non-alcoholic home. I remember all the times my mom drove blackout drunk with me. I hid in the footwells of the back seat, crying, while she tried to drive and light a cigarette while swatting at me with one hand. You know what I learned from that? I learned how to get out of a car that was filling with water when I was 7. We lived near the intercoastal, and I knew I couldn't count on her to save me.
By the grace of god, I moved away and she got sober. 7 years later I was allowed to live with her again. She was sober for almost 50 years when she died. Luckily my never-drunk grandparents and uncles looked out for me, but they didn't know she'd take me to her friend's house and leave me with their teen boy to watch me while they went on a bender. Then when they came back totally sh1tfaced, she insisted on driving home. I was lucky on the nights that she just didn't come home from work until 2 or 3 AM. I was on my own for dinner and everything else, but if she didn't come home from work until 2 or 3 AM - at least I wasn't in the car with her. That's why I would think that. Why don't you?

I think you did not have a lack of understanding here, rather just a typo or something as I noticed you alerted someone else in an earlier comment about a mixup that person made.
It’s amazing that those of us who follow DrGrande’s videos can keep so many details straight-considering the fact that he has been putting out around 300+ videos per year! Even if we only tuned in to his channel 6 months ago-that requires almost becoming his student rather than him simply entertaining us….!

I agree with your analysis. I think this tragedy is a classic case of inter generational trauma. Both women displayed behaviour typical of borderline or histrionic personality disorders. Megan and Gia were raised in unstable environments and both seem to have been abandoned by their fathers (the 2 mothers, desperate to not be alone, made poor choices in men; the men probably also struggled with the women’s volatility). I think that Jenny and Megan disliked each other but stayed together for fear of being alone. Jenny’s desperation to not be alone led to Megan’s unstable childhood and development of problematic behaviour, which resulted in Megan inflicting on Gia the same instability, insecurity and volatility.

No alcohol necessary. Some people have such an erratic dramatic dynamic thry can lose all common sense and traumatize their kids and grandkids.. the weird thing is in these situations theres still a strange love and loyalty so i could see the mother not bringing up the fight and the hair. Granted she probably was motivated by self interest, but ive seen people at eachothers throats but the moment an outsider steps in they turn in unison on that person and defend eachother...its crazy. I can 💯see this exact scenario playing out without any need for alcohol. Just extreme personalities and family dynamics.

One afternoon, my mother walked through our front door carrying a bunch of stuff and started talking about nothing important. After a few minutes I asked where Dad was and she said “Oh we got into a fight and he jumped out of the car at a red light and he’s walking home. Anyway, I bought a lemon pie for Sunday.” My mom just wove it into the conversation like it was the most natural thing in the world, which it was to them. Both of them did it often. I’m just lucky they waited to add that detail to their constant arguments when I became an adult and didn’t do it when I was in the car with them as a kid. When I tried to point out how insane their behavior was, they would stick together like glue and then get mad at me. So yes, I absolutely know where you’re coming from!

I think at worst, Jennifer overshot Dayton on purpose bc she was trying to make some kind of point with Megan, such as coerce her into 1), apologizing for attacking her, 2) for exiting the vehicle earlier, and/or 3) making her prematurely leave the wedding in a way that she foresaw and tried to avoid. At the very least, she wasn’t ready for the argument to end. I think it’s also possible that Megan was threatening to leave the vehicle again, so Jennifer was purposely going at a high rate of speed to force Megan to stay in the SUV and further intimidate her into apologizing or hear what Jennifer wanted to say. Then, as Dr Grande hypothesized, Megan opened the door in an attempt to scare Jennifer into thinking she was calling her bluff, only to literally fall victim to the laws of Sir Issac Newton.

What proof is there? Other then just witnesses?

That’s the art of a plea deal! They knew she could beat both charges all together, she didn’t though and felt 4 days was better than risking longer sentence and more driving restrictions!

It was a 9 mile drive home? So that's like a $25 uber ride? I mean, just pay the 25 bucks and this could have all been avoided. Considering the booze at the wedding was likely free, $25 seems like a fair deal.

This is a sad case and was so avoidable.
A drunk mother driving while arguing and physically fighting with her drunk daughter while her three y/o granddaughter is in the car as well. What could possibly go wrong? 🙄 Even if Jennifer didn't know her daughter was hurt, the fact that she could leave her on the side of a road all night knowing she had no phone is appalling. If she knew her daughter was hurt or dead, that's even worse. Regardless, her need to avoid arrest for driving drunk overpowered her motherly instinct to find or call for help for her daughter. This is why I don't drink, I've lost my little brother due to alcohol related accid, had a cousin killed by a drunk driver and I was just recently slammed into at 70 mph by a drunk driver and spent almost 2 weeks in the hospital. Alcohol kills so many, I know prohibition didn't go well but I wish there were harsher penalties for drunk drivers. That would help to deter ppl if they were given way stricter punishments even for first offenders. Perfect Analysis as always, I don't think you are capable of ever being wrong, Dr. Grande. 😂Your accuracy analyzing people and situations is astonishing. ❤

She should have pled not guilty to DUI, for no blood test or breathalizer was given to her. What wedding guests said or perceived could easily have been dismissed by the worst lawyer in the world.

Portland, Salem, McMinnville, and Dayton, OR are my husband's old stomping grounds. Dr. Grande's scenario of what could have happened in this case is quite likely. This situation reminds me of the sloppy drunk identical twin sisters who were yoga instructors in Hawaii that physically fought with each other while driving along a winding highway, which caused the car to fly off the road over a 200 foot cliff, crash into the rocks below, and kill one of them. A number of people witnessed Alexandria Duval driving and passenger, Anastasia, struggling with her before she died.
