Even to me as a non-native Russian speaker is quite obvious he is keeping the mic close to forward the intimacy, emotion and passion of the moment... This is no flaw. This is a perfection in this instance.
Thank you for your reaction to Dimash!! I’m sorry to hear you received mean comments when you pointed out Dimash’s pronunciation in French was imperfect. You were right; and he has corrected it in more recent performances.
Please remember that your viewers are from all over the world, so for many, English is either a 2nd or 3rd language; or they may understand very little English. So when they perceive criticism of their idol, they miss the context, and respond angrily. I don’t believe his fans are mean; let’s just consider it a communication issue.
You’ve got to remember that he sings in 12 languages, though he speaks fluently in only two. (That’s one more than I’m fluent in!) He’s currently studying English and Chinese while (before this pandemic) on a world tour AND getting another Master’s degree!
It may be helpful for you to go to Wikipedia to get a brief background to better understand him.
He is a professional opera singer. Also he has different masters in jazz, pop, rock singing. Right now he is studying another master in musical composition and he will apply for the PhD and Astana Art University, in his country.

The song is in Russian and Dimash speaks Russian. He is classically trained since the age of 5 yrs old, with his foundation being the bel canto technique. He opted to bring his career singing pop-opera/crossover instead of accepting a Tenor position w/ Astana Opera House. thank you
I wonder why you haven't watched this song with the subtitles, which are available. You'd probably understand better why he was using that breathy tone a lot. It suits the lyrics perfectly.
The song is in Russian and, like most Kazakhs, Dimash speaks it fluently without an accent. So yeah, you were right about his articulation. It was flawless.
The part that you called Arabic is actually an ethnic Kazakh technique but similar techniques are widely spread in many post-Soviet countries in Middle Asia, in the Caucasus and in some parts of Russia too.
And you were probably too stunned by it that you haven't mentioned (or maybe haven't noticed) that his last run was 23 seconds long in one breath.
Dimash's mother is an opera singer and his dad sang pop. So, he was exposed to different genres from the very young age.
That is because she is not a good vocal coach that is obvious. She keep saying "I Think" also His Mic Technique is the best I have ever heard and seen. He uses it to add a lot of effects and emotions to his singing . She listened to him 3 months ago and did not listen to after that no way. She is just looking to pick on little things that might get someone to think she is a vocal coach. But most people listened to the real vocal coaches on here where they explain his techniques fully :)

The cultural style after high notes (an unusual sound that you thought was Arabic sound): Dimash’s tribal / ethnic riff while singing Sinful Passion was a tribute to Batyrkhan Shukenov, who died in 2015. Batyrkhan was another well-known Kazakh singer, an original song singer and member of the same group A'Studio, which accompanies Dimash on stage. This style of singing is an improvisation of "joktau" (meaning crying for the deceased), a traditional Kazakh grief, singing by women at a funeral. Zhoktau (“crying”) is a memorable song of Kazakhs. Zhoktau is the oldest genre of poetry of nomadic tribes, preserved and transferred to the life of the Kazakh people. Traditionally, it contains verses and the text of pronounced sadness about the man who died, recalling the good deeds that he did. This technique of singing, as Father Dimash said, was taken from Yakutia (which, like the Kazakhs, are Turkic peoples)
That bald man in the white shirt is Maestro Igor Krutoy that also plays piano, who has partnered with Dimash to compose several new songs just for him. He has already composed 3 new songs & reworked others for him. Even his newer SOS has better pronunciation. To give you info, His father sang pop & is a producer & his mother sang opera but he sings in all styles & genres but a lot of his music is called Popera. He started training at age 5 & he will turn 26 on May 24th. He plays at least 7 instruments. Over 6 octave range

Hi, Dimash made his version of this song and the last part of it is his own, he knows music and when the covid19 will leave us alone for a bit he will take his master in music. of course he had opera training since he was 5 but his massive TALENT made the rest. The ethnic sound he made is from Mongolia and in opera is called "trill" in english and "nota ribattuta" in italian and it was used by a few opera composers in the past and is marked on the music sheet with a special sign even for singers, In this song after the ethnic part he sang "give me" as a tenor than mix with a very hig note and then a fantastic run with a one breath 22,84 secs . Many good composers are inspired again becouse they finally found an alien who can sing their music.he is UNIQUE
Honey, people aren't going to be nice 100% of the time and if Dimash had read those posts, he'd be mortified. So please just be your usual self and point out what you need to point out. On the same note (pun intended), he went on to perform it at the Slavic Bazaar and must have heard or read the critiques, because the next time he performed it, you could distinctly hear porqouis je vis (with the silent s) so he watches, listens and learns which is great for an artist. At least he's not complacent, thinking it's enough if the melody is sung perfectly. He actually strives to improve himself and healthy critique can only be a good thing. He hadn't lost his love. The love of his life is there with him under the cover of the night, and it's a love confession...one of many perhaps... 'cos he's totally enchanted and bewitched by her and is only asking for their passion to burn hot, day and night...
I think Dimash actually loses that "s" on "vis" in the second use of it in the Singer 2017 performance -- he's a fast learner! LOL.

I agree with what Traci says that Dimash would be mortified if he saw those types of comments. There's a reactor I enjoy who stopped reacting and analyzing Dimash for that reason because he didn't need the grief, so sometimes they can ruin it for everyone else. in my opinin pointing that the singer is lips-sync is quite a sensitive issues.
so i think after the fans explaining quite elaborately, he can just apologize for it. it not a big deal actually to do so.

She makes some absolutely ridiculous comments that are easily remedied w/ the most basic effort to understand context - for example, the remark about SOS being a show off piece is Laughable b/c he was a wild card entry in a Contest competing w/ Professionals & in the very video the showrunner tells him he Must impress the Audience Fast or he's going home...... When you put yourself in a position where you feel qualified to critique a Master like Dimash or any other you must make the base line effort to understand context or back ground or you will be criticized

Dear E: In order to fully appreciate Dimash's vocal choices during the performance of any song, you must first access a translation of that song. Dimash is a story teller as well as a virtuoso. His ability to tell a story through his vocals is unsurpassed. Please remember, that every note, every gesture, every vocal technique is always purposeful and well thought out in advance.
This includes the "mouth sounds" due to close mic. It's part of the comunication of the story.

Not only precise with his words, but with his technique as well. I haven't heard your first critique, but I can understand why you felt a bit "attacked". His Dears love him. He studies opera, jazz, contemporary, and i can't remember others. Also, composition. Six instruments & 12 languages. Be forgiving if he isn't spot-on in French. He doesn't speak French & learns the French song phonetically. He speaks 4 languages: Kazakh, of course, Russian fluently, studying Mandarin & English. I think he's doing exceptionally well, over.

S.O.S was for a contest, where you need to show all your vocal skills in 3 minutes to impress the judges, so it was very clever of him to use all those techniques, and, in my opinion, he coped with the goal not to lose the emotional component in chasing victory.
Dimash has a B.A. in classical vocal, an M.A. in contemporary vocal, & an M.A. in music composition. Began training at age 5. He is now 26.

When someone makes the effort to communicate with so many countries and peoples, I find this overwhelming personally and highly appreciate his messages. Us Dears will look up lyrics, find close captions or just enjoy his musical messages. He knows Kazakh and Russian, and is learning Mandarin and English. His microphone technique is the best I've ever seen. He closely holds the microphone in those parts of the song in which he wants to add intimity to the sound. He sings in Russian, which he speaks fluently. There are many hissing sounds in the Russian language, although not as many as, for example, in Polish, Czech, or Mandarin.
That is why I do not agree with your statement that the perfect singing of Dimash interferes with the emotional perception of the song. Dimash is also unique in that, in addition to virtuoso vocal technique, he is always and completely emotionally involved in the song and also captivates his audience. Я рада, что у Димаша нет акцента в его русском (это мой родной язык), и его возможные акценты не мешают мне воспринимать эмоционально песни на всех других языках, ибо я просто не могу услышать эти акценты. Я просто слушаю его голос, наполненный красотой и эмоциями. Кстати, его акцент в мандаринском языке не помешал ему пленить китайскую публику, так как в Китае он стал звездой первой величины. Я слышала, как китайцы говорили, что его акцент они считают очень милым и приятным.

I think the woman who reacts, albeit without malicious intent,
was wrong again with the analysis, because she went to the details without importance and forgot to analyze (and enjoy) the magnificent musical forms, runs, glissades, bel canto etc, and the wonderful lyrics (she was able to search for subtitles).
I think that deep down there is a cultural problem, because for example when an English speaker sings in Spanish they qualify it as tasty (example Phill Collins singing Spanish) but if a foreign singer whose native language is not English or French, the "analysts" look down to the last detail of the pronunciation. I think (not all of them of course) have some cultural trouble, of which they are not even aware.
Dimash will also help change this situation because he is an ambassador of peace and respect.

Meanwhile, if you watch this song in his latest concerts, his pronunciation improved remarkably, as well as in most of the other foreign songs... To be honest, his French, Mandarin, Englush (insert Language of choice here) is far, far better than our Kazakh 🤣🤣 Don't let yourself be withheld from reacting to this beautiful artist 💜 By the way, he is fluent in Russian which you can hear very well here, but he sings just divine in Kazakh language, his mother tongue 😍😍

Yeah, anytime you make a remark about a less-than-perfect aspect of Dimash's performance, you'll get whacked by members of the Kool-Aid Club.
I try to not let it affect my appreciation for Dimash's incredible talent, but there are a few moments when his pronunciation in non-native (for him) languages makes me puzzle a bit. But in the end -- hey, he sings to make sounds first and (especially with operatic riffs) that means setting aside perfect speech. I actually enjoy listening to him sing in Kazakh or Russian because those are his "fountains" -- the places where he first learned to express emotion and thought. One's heart language will always carry those traits with it. He is more emotionally articulate in Kaz/Russ, though in "Confessa," for instance, you'd think he was an Italian....he gets it all spot-on.
A number of people have remarked that his English, in particular, is getting better.....it's still got issues, of course, but even my second language, French -- which I've spoken for almost 40 years -- still gets wrapped around the axle once in a while, so I extend grace to the lad. Just to hear him sing is such a treat. I've not heard anyone like him and, in my lifetime, don't expect to again.

The song is made in Russian, by a Kazakh band, of which the guys playing behind Dimash are part of. Dimash is also from Kazakhstan, and he speaks Russian fluently, which is a normal thing for someone who originates from a former Soviet Union state. Therefore his fame is based in Russia, supported by Russian composer Igor Krutoy, who you can see in other Dimash videos playing piano on stage. As a supporter of high-performance quality music i can recommend you to keep exploring Dimash songs onward. For example, "Love is like a dream" and "Love of tired swans" are also very good performances of his, in Russian. In English, i recommend "Adagio" which is Lara Fabian's song, and his combo performance of "Confessa+The Diva Dance song"
IGOR Krutoy is NOT Russian... he is born in KIEV, Ukraine..... although he seems to have abandoned his fatherland and become Russian, for all intents and purposes.
@@yousurf374 He was born in a smaller town in southern Ukraine. He"s 65 years old, which means he grew up in times when this Russian/Ukranian separation wasn't a thing. If artists from an ex-Soviet Union state go to make music in other state rather than their own, that state is always Russia, because Russian musical industry is richer and more influential out of it's borders. +He's a musician, don't expect from him to ruin himself with political garbage when he has a job of the best kind, music is where he's focusing his efforts, as he should.

@@yousurf374 Yeah, it was the aristocratic politics and difference in religion that made the dispute appear, i will say as a phenomenon, because all these countries are similar and should stick together without competition between each other. The more separation, the more hatred. We, Slavs are so unique in this fashion, so much tendency for separation, therefore destroying the big potential that would follow if we just gather and unite in mutual peace and respect. Every small country thinks it's tough and wants sovereignty, until it passes some time in independence, and starts undermining itself from desperation and develops emigration tendencies. It's a work by the politicians, and yet the masses are stupid enough to follow them without any thought of options. There's always an option.

It's not fully opera as he chooses to belt certain notes in a different style (no doubt he could do it full opera but this is how he chose it) and rock style drums are used along with the orchestra which is not typical opera style. I just don't want anyone spreading incorrect information.
Arwen Garraway It’s his most operatic song still. Male tenor and female soprano parts. The only non sounding opera moment is the transition from male to female which doesn’t exist in opera. For that he has to use a more bright sound.

He is considered a PoPera (Pop/Opera) Singer with a known 6-Octaves range (He’s known as “The 6-Octave Man”). He has an Opera background. There is a song buried in emotion and that comes from the 'Singer' shows. The name is Adagio and the melody is from a classical piece. The most famous interpretations (off the classical piece) are by Yngwie Malmsteen and by Lara Fabian. (Dimash covers her version, and although it sounds deeply modelled on her performance, Dimash's is something to experience).
Dimash sings this song in Russian. This is his not mother tongue but Russian is wide-spread in Kazakhstan as it was part of the Soviet Union. So, he speaks it rather fluently with no accent.

He does have clasical training since he was 5. He's from Kazakhstan which they speak both Russian and Turkish. His parents are both famous singers in Kazakhstan. The sound he makes in the middle of the song is a technic they sing in Kazakh funerals and traditional songs
That arabic sound in spanish is called "hammering vibrato": Some people would say that is yodeling but I don´t really know. He sang it there to homage the original singer of that song, from A-Studio, who died and it it to say farewell to dead souls in certain muslim tribes.

Everything Dimash does is calculated, intentional, and purposeful. If you watch all of his SOS performances you’ll notice that he improves with each performance. His volcal “fry” is intentional and is a common vocal technique.

Listing to the live recordings was always "interesting" because you hear every little mistake that was done. But you need to learn to live with them, work at them or around them and not to brake at them ;)

Dear Elvann, no worries here about telling the truth about Dimash's pronunciation. Since Singer 2017 he has been studying Mandarin (CHINESE) and English to get better. He must have studied some French too because he did a later version of SOS where the obvious mistakes in pronunciation have been corrected. French people have said that for example he was pronouncing what should be a silent S & that in the later version they are now silent. I don't remember if they said it is perfect but they did say much better.

I checked and it's D1, it's very low the tone of the duet with Yugang and the tuner frame below. Still, it's 7 full octaves in which he sings LIVE so far. He was offered a position with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan, but he refused because he wanted to pursue his own path and carve out his own style. I think a lot of what we're seeing from him now is him finding himself and exploring what works, and he truly is all about pleasing his fans - it's his ultimate focus. He's got a pretty great start, especially with reaction channels like yours and the army of "Dears" promoting him. He was recently played on the radio for the first time in the US and in the very short time I've followed him, his fame has exploded. You should watch at least one of his concerts - his set lists are all over the place.
As a French speaker you should compare the Dimash SOS - Slavic Bazaar with the one you first reacted to. You might be surprised with the pronunciation difference. Great reaction!
Dimash has had four years of opera trainings. He has degrees in both classical and contemporary music. He has collaborated with jazz groups too.
Four years ??!! He's been receiving classical training since the age if 5 and still to this day , so not four years but 21 years of classical training for now .
He even levelled up his game , since 2016 he started training with very famous voice teacher from China , and after the Bastau Concert he started lessons with teachers and coaches from Belarus & Ukraine & Russia & United Arab Emirates .
Dimash started his music education at age five. He was invited to sing with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan, but turned them down. He didn't want to be "stuck" singing one genre of music. He continues vocal training to this day with his long time vocal coach in Kazakhstan. He says as long as he sings, he will continue to train vocally. At a very young age, his teacher quickly learned he had perfect pitch. No problem with his mic technique. What you hear coming through the mic is exactly what he wants you to hear. In an interview his dad, Kanat said, "In creativity, Dimash is very meticulous. He sings a song for a long time, passes it through his soul, rethinks it in order to feel emotion, and only when he is convinced that the song is ripened, he can sing it through is own vision." Don't worry about commenting anything you feel. Dimash sings in 12 languages so he can't do all of them correctly all the time. I will say he constantly tries to improve & he has been studying Mandarin (Chinese) & Engllish & he keeps getting better. Also, a lot of Italians say that when they listen to Italian singers doing Italian they can't understand them but when Dimash sings Italian they understand every word.
Dimash held that last note for about 19 seconds...listen again. He sang SOS in 2017 and was in a China competition called the Singer. This song he did in 2018 and has even been in USA NYC in Dec of 2019, a concert he gave...and of course he was a sensation. Singers are always testing their singing abilities and hopefully growing from them, no matter how talented or gifted they are. Dimash did have classical/opera voice lessons first but is also a composer and plays many musical instruments. His passion is music and as he matures, he is only going to be 26 on 24 May of this year, he already showing some of his musical renditions/arrangements of songs. He is also a very kind, thoughtful and caring person, which for me is an additional attribute he has.
You are right, pronunciation is very important and Dimash knows it. He knows it needed improvement (assuming you reacted to the "I am a Singer" SOS - 2017). So, that is exactly what he did in this version of SOS from 2018 (ruclips.net/video/W29zEuZVaxs/видео.html ). Remember, that these languages are not spoken by Dimash and he learns them "Phonetically" - meaning, for an American to say Spaß (means fun) in a German song correctly, they read it as "Shp-ah-ss" so it sounds that same when spoken. That is how Dimash learns these songs that he can't speak the language in. You can see this in a song he sang for his Chinese Dears called "Autumn Strong". He had to Learn the Chinese song "Phonetically" in one week (yes, 1 week) and his biggest worry was that the he would not pronounce words right and the audience wouldn't understand him. Girl, we Dears are a loyal army of Dimash fans. But since by now, your a Dear too, your legal and aproved in your comments. Don,t be scared, Dimash doesn't aprove or permit any bulling or agresiveness by his fans to anyone. He is the most humble, being one of the best, if not the best in the world.
Here’s an idea: There are a couple of RUclips channels which provide English (and occasionally other) translations for Dimash’s songs in subtitles. IMPORTANTLY, they also provide the real-life backstory to songs like Autumn Strong and Daybreak. VERY important to have this context before reacting because the latter is a tragic story. One reactor clearly didn’t have the subtitles and didn’t know the story, because every time Dimash hit a high note, he laughed because he liked it. But it was SO INAPPROPRIATE.

None. Sometimes these people feel like they have to find an imperfection in a singers voice whether pronunciation or find some fault like how he is holding the mic. Dimash had to endure harsh criticism throughout his career even from his own country men and talent show judges. I do sense a lot of jealousy on the part of some reactors. Until they reach his expertise or draw the fan base he has any criticism is laughable.
Well she's correct; he isn't perfect. What's the point of doing a reaction video if all you're going to do is gush. Kind of mindless and one doesn't learn from "yes" people. I'm also a classically trained singer who crossed over into rock, blues, jazz and Broadway. I didn't particularly learn that much from this and don't agree with everything she says, but I find her critique to be fresh air because she's not doing what all the others do. She SHOULD be picking it apart. Do you think Dimash would be where he is with his vocals if he listened only to "yes" people? I was so glad on her SOS reaction when she said the mark of a great singer isn't in his or her high notes. Lots of people can do high and whistle notes, and extreme low notes, and many brilliant singers are at home in their middle-range chest register. What sets them apart lies in the ability to build, structure, interpret, phrase, support and tell the story. I'm a huge Dimash fan but I also know how to critically analyze a performance, hence the term: REACTION VIDEO.
