    The Direnni are intresting. They seemed to be quite open when compared to the other race's of Mer as they had no qualms with The Nede's/Bretons and welcomed Aylied refugees with open arms. They were not overthrown by force but their power faded due to Breton's gaining political power

    Unlike the main ethnic group of Altmer inside of The Summerset Isles, The Direnni do not buy into the delusion of "elven supremacy" and largely live in peace with their human neighbors. I would additionally think that, basically just being a city-state for the past millennium or so, the Direnni have probably needed to breed with their human neighbors more often in order for their presumably small population to remain genetically viable, which also probably helps out with political alliances with the many noble families of High Rock, as well as them never really having all that much of a social stigma about such things. It is for this reason that I suspect that the Direnni would currently be the Elven equivalent of The Bretons, in that the former is predominantly Elven, but with a by no means insignificant percentage of Human ancestry. The Thalmor probably have a racistly low opinion of The Direnni for this very reason.

    • @patricialavery8270
      @patricialavery8270 3 года назад

      Thalmor are religious extremists ,and we know how those people are in real life.Thalmor are not different than all the other idiots who have caused wars and holocausts out of a feeling of superiority in our own world.

    • @thalmoragent9344
      @thalmoragent9344 3 года назад +5

      Actually, the Direnni did still believe in Elven Supremacy, it's the whole reason they had the humans as the lower casts in their society in the first place.
      They just weren't as anal about it like the Altmer. They believe in Elven superiority, just to a lower level.
      They didn't NEED to breed with the humans, they just chose to for recreational sex, and none of the Bretons born of that were allowed to be a part of the main Direnni family, just higher positions than the Nedes.

      @@thalmoragent9344 I think they believed in some elven supremacy but not that much. The conquered people are almost alway second class citizens, but that doesn't mean that the conquerors consider them inferior racially. They have their own interests and goals and to do that they don't give conquered people as many power and rights as them, not because they believe themselves to be superiors, but because they need workers and they want to keep their status.

    • @ImperialKnowledge
      @ImperialKnowledge  5 лет назад +4

      Lol thank you. But a questin to someone who is clearly Dominion lover.
      Do you think the Direnni would sympathise with the Thalmor? To me it seems out of character but perhaps you have a different perspective on it?

    • @thealdmeridominion7086
      @thealdmeridominion7086 5 лет назад +3

      @@ImperialKnowledge There are certainly many differences between the Direnni and the Thalmor, especially regarding methods and ways of dealing with politics. But these differences can be explained, before anything else, by the different historical context in which each of them arised as dominant groups. Just like the differences between the First, Second and Third Aldmeri Dominions can be explained by these different contexts.
      However, all of them - the Direnni, the Thalmor and all the Dominions - essentially represent the same historical movement: an attempt by the Altmer civilization to spread culture and enlightenment across Tamriel. Now would the Direnni sympathise with the Thalmor ways? Maybe not. The Direnni certainly would prefer a more business-oriented way of action.They were masters in the game of politics. They used to have a subtlety that the Thalmor often lacks. Machiavelli's "the Prince" describes the Direnni perfectly well and the context of their rise is very similar to the birth of our modern age in the Italian merchant principalities. Now the Thalmor is a whole different story. Their ways are a response to a context in which human nations and empires have become more and more imperialistic and - sometimes - even barbaric. Tiber Septim represents that trend better than anyone else. So the Thalmor is a child of its time and (even if their methods would not be approved by the Direnni) at the end of the day they are not essentially different.

    The Direnni are a pretty ideal race of Mer. Sure they still believed in their natural superiority, but weren't so snobbish about it like the Altmer or some other Mer. An Elven ruled society that made peace with other friendly Mer that came to them for help, and guided humans under them sounds pretty good.
    3:57
    That's touching, the Direnni cared about their Falmer cousins who were massacred by the Nords, and claimed that part of Skyrim in their name. I wonder why we don't hear of the Snow Elves ever heading to High Rock for refuge, maybe they wanted to keep their cousins safe from the wrath of Nords, and figured the Dwemer already in Skyrim were a safer bet.

    two things i noticed that are both interesting 1. the Direnni history is easier to understand since most their history as well mess up in the head
    like so many of their alter mer cousins they did just fun! way back in the ancients eras or the very older ages of times for the elves since their
    long life spans ancient time for us the old ages for the elves if that makes any reasonable sense 2. un i just realized the Pelagius III Pelagius the mad
    should look more alter mer then human in looks being a breton isn't bad way to explain why he looks so human in looks since how genetics work
    in the elder scrolls series the child always take the mother's race and well be a version of being a number of that race just not 100% hybrid in those
    looks or other means that would make sense for a hybrid in other series being a Breton is still good answer but genetic in their lore he's even more
    Odd in those means i guess being a child of the empire being dragon-born in the blood overrides that genetic marker of the babies likely hood still
    a Breton is a good answer but i feel like the lore undermines it's own rules even their very odd genetic rules of how each race has kids with each other
    aren't always 100% like that the game series but the seeing Pelagius III as alter-breton mer like being is pretty interesting to see but i guess it doesn't matter

    What's really comical about the racial supremicist types common in TES fan groups is that if you can interbreed and have viable offspring that can also have offspring it means ,let us say ,that dogs can do this,which means dogs are all the same species.A good lesson for racists in games or real life.XD.
