Love watching all of your videos! We're the same age and they bring me so much nostalgic happiness. Your Dad is brilliant for recording so many moments and I'm sure he would be very proud and happy to see what you're doing with all the footage. Priceless content. Great work. :)
Wow! What an awesome dad you have! My dad took all my money which I had been saving for ages to purchase a game back in the day and in the end I didn't get to play it while all my friends were playing it
Can’t lie bro this story made me cry , I didn’t have a dad growing up , but it def hits super hard to hear your story of how a true dad is supposed to be ,, I strive & im def doing my best to be like your Dad bro , love your channel & stories what a great childhood
I feel you. My real dad and step dad were both trash and just watching this story about him and his dad just felt amazing and wished I had a proper dad like his.
Yalls dads are some shit! I had similar stories to this guy growing up. Best Christmas I ever had was my dad getting me and my brother a Seag and a Super Nintendo in the same Christmas. We died and came back to life that day! Too much for a kid to take in! Did the same thing when the Playstation and Dreamcast came out. Christmas's were crazy for gaming!
I can't believe it's been 30 YEARS! 😱 I hope you enjoyed this story - It's one of my favorite childhood gaming memories. Got a favorite memory of the original Sonic 2 on Sega Genesis? Let me know in the comments. Happy Thanksgiving!
We where poor back then, and I had to buy a used NES from a used game store. I was 12 when it came out. My best friend had a Genesis and he got Sonic 2 on launch day. He brought it over to my house and we played it until 1 am the next morning. May not have been able to own it until I was 15, but playing with my friend was always a blast on Sonic 2.
Great story! Today is my birthday so it’s crazy to see what was happening on that exact day and how Sega/Sonic has impacted my childhood in the late 90s. I hate to say that I’m 30 now, but i still feel young. Have a great day everyone!
I was 10 years old when this game came out. I was so excited for it. I remember reading about it in Sega Vision or GamePro. I can't remember which one but those were the two my friends and I would bring to school to pass around and share with each other. I was excited about a new character and the hype was so real. I would rent my games and videos from a local mom and pop rental place. They knew I was excited for it so they made sure to hold a copy for me to rent. I also got really sick with a bad stomach flu but I still played it in between throwing up and having a fever lol I remember having really weird vivid dreams about Sonic and Tails that night. Can't believe it's been 30 years. Still have a lot of fun playing it.
Yet another bittersweet video from you Tyler. I received my copy of Sonic 2 a few weeks later for a Birthday/Christmas Present from my Dad (R.I.P. ????-1997) just days after my parents separated. He gave it and my Sega Genesis to me during one of our last trips together. That whole time is a blur, but I believe that I either asked for it along with my Genesis or I got it as a return from a different game that year. Can’t believe this Nov 24th will be 25 years since he passed. Definitely miss him everyday.
I was 12 on this release. I remember playing the absolute crap out of this game as in those days you only could afford 1 game in months. Loved it and still play it today
Sonic 2 is my earliest memory of a video game, and I still have my original copy when we first got it in the mid-late 90s. First game I truly loved. Love your heartwarming stories Tyler thank you!
Tyler your videos bring so much joy to my heart it's like being a kid all over again. Never had sega grew up with nintendo. But I remember one Friday afternoon after school my parents surprised me with super mario bros 3 got it day one was one of the best days as a kid. Your dad was awesome man
I was 4 years old when we got Sonic 2 for Christmas in 1992. The minute I woke up, the first thing I said was that I wanted to play Sonic. I completely forgot about opening presents. 😆 I was Sonic obsessed back then. I remember we freaked out when my brother opened it. So glad we captured all this excitement on camera.
@jeez it's not the best footage. Cameras were so huge back then and were hard to hold. We set ours up on a tripod and just let it record. We weren't even on camera when we opened the game but you can at least hear the excitement.
Yeah I remember back in 1992 when I purchased Sonic 2. I was the perfect age at 7 years old. Definitely my favourite game on Sega Mega Drive and will always have a special place in my heart.
This was my very first Sonic game! I didn't get it day one, but I got it in January 1994 shortly after I got my Sega Genesis for Christmas 1993. I was three years old when I got it, but it released a week and a half before my second birthday so when it released I don't even think I was aware of its existence, and if I was I was too young to remember. Saying this game changed the course of my life is an understatement. I became obsessed with Sonic since I first laid eyes on the cover which inspired me to pick up art as a hobby. I made friends with other kids who liked Sonic, and if they didn't like Sonic I did my best to share my love of Sonic with them. Sonic set a standard for my interests and hobbies at a very early stage in my life, many of which I still abide to. To this day Sonic continues to play a huge role for me like nothing's changed, except now I was fortunate enough to turn my love for Sonic into my career. I love Sonic, I really do, and it's all thanks to Sonic 2. I really don't know where I'd be if not for Sonic 2. I'd probably be a different person altogether... which is scary to think about!
My Dad and Mom got me the Sega Genesis packed with Sonic 2 on Christmas when I was 8 . They also gave me Mortal Kombat 2. I can remember that being one of the most glorious days of my life and my parents actually took some photos too. Later that year my cousin Omar stayed at my house and we ended up beating the game together. Thanks for the cool videos !
I really really miss the days before the internet. Everybody seemed so grounded back then… blissfully unaware of all the unnecessary bulls&$”… thank God I grew up during that time. Great channel. ❤
I dont know when I got Sonic 2 but I have very fond memories of it to this day. I bought Origins yesterday and I was up way too late last night playing through Sonic 1 & 2.
I got Sonic 2 through a mail in rebate. My dad would never do anything like this. After buying a NES he stopped buying consoles and the only time I got a new game was on bday/xmas. If I wanted a console I had to work for it and save allowance or do yardwork for neighbors/shovel and get underpaid lol. Then when I would finally use that money to get a console my dad would remind me that I'm wasting my money and that I should keep saving it. You are one lucky dude.
This is the coolest channel on youtube. The feelings you get seeing some of these old games is unreal. It's almost too much haha. There have literally been videos on this channel I've watched that have bought me to tears just because of the feelings I got reliving these moments. Seeing these old games brings back so much more than just the memories of playing them
What a lovely story, yes I got Sonic 2 on launch day. Also I remember a Tv show in England called Bad Inffluence and they did the level select cheat 19, 65, 09 and 17!! wow happy days....
Unfortunately I was not around when Sonic 2 came out but, it has to be my favourite Sonic 2D game. It's just such an incredibly fast paced action platform and just because the story is let's face it quite simple the gameplay elements and boss fights make up for that. This video reminded me of when I got my copy of Super Mario Galaxy as just like you I got surprised after being picked up from school. I loved that game to death and getting it day one and being so excited for it before hand is a memory I'll cherish.
I had equally amazing memories of this game. But it was nothing compared to the joy I got from sonic 3 and then sonic and knuckles. I had appendicitis and was admitted to hospital hours before it was going to burst! When I woke up from the operation, my dad handed me sonic 3 😁 one of the happiest moments of my young life.
You were so blessed with your loving family. You literally were set up to be a successful content creator in the early 90s. Your videos warm my heart. Thank you for taking us all back to the 90s
Not video games but my dad surprised me picking me up from school the day of game 1 of the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals (Calgary Flames at Tampa Bay Lightning) with tickets to the game! Definitely one of the best days of my childhood. And my Flames won the game and my fav player Jarome Iginla scored. (Let’s not talk about the rest of that series though?)
I have fond memories of sonic 2 as a little kid my big cousin used to let me play with him he made me play as tails but I never complained your dad was amazing
How many of us could actually imagine back in 1992 when we were kids, that we'd still be playing this game today 30 years later!? But this time with our kids! My kids are massive Sonic fans because of this game, and it's still their first sonic game they played (playing on the mega drive mini). Sonic 2 has stayed relevant.
Sonic 2 came out like 10 years before I was born. I'll play the classic game titles and feel nostalgic for something I've never experienced. I somewhat feel that way with Sonic 2, it was at the time my favorite classic game before Sonic 3 and Knuckles. Honestly wish I could've experienced Sonic 2 as a kid.
@@phantom-X2086 I can tell you why these feelings are so good. At these times, there was no internet, no patches, no upgrades, no pay-walls, no pay to win, not making money on the kid's heads. It was just "The game must be perfect at the release time", and they were (mostly). I mean bad games are bad games, but good games are good games. But nobody forced you to buy an upgrade to make it better. These games come from a time when the product had to convince the customers. My grandma had a washing-machine that was 30 years old, when she died. We have kitchen-tools here (electronics) that work after 40 years. Some people say, older cars had quality. Today you buy rubbish, no quality, it's all about making money as quick as possible. I remember times when we changed light-bulbs all 5-10 years, today they pop like all 2 months. We bought a big TV in 1992 and it lasted at least until 2012, that's 20 years and it was still perfect. But we changed to flatscreen then, and yeah, they are done now after 5-10 years already ...... And sometimes it's good to see some pixel-graphics, because your mind is activated. Perfect graphics do not activate your brain, but older graphics start the effect of imagination in your head. I think, that's a reason why Minecraft was such a hit.
Wow. That's one top tier dad. What's even better is that you grew up to truly appreciate all the things that he did for you when you were a kid. Not everyone is as sentimental as you are. It's a great quality to have.
My family played a prank on me because I had been begging for a Sega soooo much. My mother had informed me that the stores were sold out of Segas and I couldn't get Sonic 2. One of my sisters came over to the house and was like ''I got mother a microwave, u wanna open it for her?'' I was sad as hell...I will never forget tearing off a piece of gift wrap at the corner of the box where Sonic & Tails were running! My soul left my body! My mother got me the Genesis model 2 that came with Sonic 2...I WAS SO DAMN HAPPY I didn't sleep for like 2 days! That was one hell of a prank and I will never forget that happiness-
crazy to think that this guys channel is basically his dads channel but his dad died in 2007. what an amazing way to honor his dad keeping his name alive. this guys dad truly is looking down upon him smiling
I was born in 1999, so I was a little late for the release of Sonic 2 lol, but one of my fondest memories as a kid was when my parents took me to the mall one day to Electronics Boutique and told me I could pick whatever game I wanted. I was so unbelievably excited and as soon as I saw the gamecube case for Sonic Adventure 2 battle, I knew instantly what game I was going to walk out of that store with. I played SA2 battle into the wee hours of the morning that night in awe. I am so excited to share my love for video games with my children someday and do what your parents and my parents did for us kids that made our childhoods so special. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving Tyler and thank you so much for sharing your wonderful childhood memories with us all.
I was a little late to the Sega MegaDrive as it was a distraction gift to what was happening in family in 1993. I got Sonic 1 and Mega Games 1 and loved it so much. Sonic 2 came for me Christmas 1995 when I started secondary school (High School), the Christmas day I was happy again, Sonic 2 was bought for my by my late grandmother and was one of the best presents I got that year. I played it most of the day trying to get to being Super Sonic but alas this was not be that day. People have to remember, Saving was never a real option for most games back then. The rest of the day I played MicroMachines 96 with my big brother. Sonic 2 remains a staple in my life and my own gaming history. Sega for me solidified many friendships to this day and still does. Thank you for sharing this with us Tyler.
This video was just so wholesome, I loved it 😭😭 As for me, I wasn't even born when Sonic 2sday happened but Sonic 2 would become one my favorite games of my childhood nonetheless. I like to think that even my 4 year old me already knew what a huge game this was at the time of its release because I just cherished the game SO much. But of course, I didn't know anything about the release and the success until I got A LOT older. I'm so happy that we all share these happy memories about this game.
I got Sonic 2 and a Mega Drive for Christmas in 1992. I was so happy when I opened the present to see it sat there! Man, the memories! Getting Sonic 2 and my Mega Drive was easily one of my greatest nostalgic moments ever!
That's so awesome that your Dad surprised you like that with the game! You couldn't ask for a better Sonic 2 childhood experience. My family got Sonic 2 in mid '93 for my brother's birthday and it was one my favorite and most played games of my childhood. The level of nostalgia I experience when playing Sonic 2 is super strong because of the amount of time I spent playing it as a kid. IMO, Sonic 2 is the quintessential Sonic game.
Same thing happened to me but it was 1990 and it was final fantasy 1 as my surprise for a 4.0 gpa that semester. Thank you for reminding me of my memories. Love your channel my man. Keep em coming.
I'm about about a decade younger than you, but I experienced this level of extreme excitement when I got Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast back when it released. I didn't even know there was a sequel since we didn't have internet. But, after opening a couple of gifts that were Sonic toys, my dad saved the game for last. I was overwhelmed with joy
These have to be some of the best videos on the internet. Your retro life is so sick! Its exactly all our childhoods just you caught yours on camera, so special! Thanks for sharing.
We were dirt poor growing up. We rented a run-down house in the middle of the woods. It was heated by a stove. The floorboards were so old you could feel air slip through them. When we got our first SEGA, it was the Sonic 2 bundle on discount for Christmas. But, you could not tell my 2 brothers and me we were not kings of the world. I love SNES but I'll always be a SEGA kid, and SONIC 2 will always be the first game I beat and fully explored. Thanks for the nostalgia trip!
You're dad was the man. I got some old home videos from back then but only 1 of me actually playing a game. And I was born halfway through the 90s so I only have a few memories, but I was lucky that my parents liked gaming at least. Had the NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PS1. These videos at least help feel a little bit like you're back in time reliving those moments. Great Channel.
I remember when I got my sega genesis at 6 years old and it came with Sonic 2. I played that game to death. What a foundational game!! Sonic for life!! This was a great segment thank you!
Tyler that's a completely AMAZING memory! Sonic 2 is what sold tons of Genesis systems back then. I got mine for Christmas that year from my Grandma. Mine was the Sonic 2 system I also got for a 2nd game Hard Drivin which my Aunt got me for my then new Genesis. It was my first game system and truth be told it's still my favorite next to my PS2 my Dad got me also as a Christmas gift ironically 10 yrs later! We're the same age from what I figure LOL so yes these years were the best between video games, all the cool toys at the time and cartoons. Being a 90s kid was nothing I'd ever regret and alot of times wish I can go back and stay in those times as those times were super special also with family then! 👍❤😎 I enjoy your channel as I relate to alot of the pop culture puts my mindset in a peaceful time setting again. Thank you for sharing this memory of Sonic 2.
Your dad is great man! I remember being 4 years old when Sonic the hedgehog 2 came out in late 92’. I don’t recall getting it at launch but if memory serves me correctly I did get it for Christmas 92’. I play that game all 93’ lol that is the game that truly made me a fan of Sonic and to this day that is my favorite Sonic game.
Man, I have the same great and one of my best memories in my life. My dad also surprised me after school with a brand new copy of Sonic 2 and I’m still remembering my happiness when he gave it to me in our car. Same great memories as the day he bought me my Mega Drive with Sonic 1 in it. These are unique moments and one in a life time memories. Greetings from Greece!
I was born in 2005 but Sonic 2 was one of the games I grew up with as I had it on collections for the PSP and DS, the game is unforgettable and an absolute masterpiece that shaped my childhood and made me a fan of both Sonic and gaming.
Thank you for uploading these home videos! You're dad reminds me of my grandma! she used to do that for me, But instead of games it was going to Carowinds or a theme Park.and she took me too see every Harry Potter movie at the midnight release.
I got sonic 2 also but I was a senior in high school in November 1992. Your video is great and brings back awesome memories. My magic moment like this was October 1988 when Mario Bros 2 came out for the NES, I used to watch the magazines like you for release dates etc, and Mario 2 was your sonic 2 for me. Great story thanks for sharing and bringing back great memories of that era. I loved my genesis And NES back then, it was a magical time to grow up!
Bro...Sonic 2 is 30 already? Seriously though, my brother and I got Sonic 2 for Christmas in 1992. We loved it. We still play it occasionally. Awesome job on this video. Just subscribed.
Great story. Your dad sounds great and everything that mine, wasn’t. To be fair, he’s always been around but he’s old fashioned and grumpy as hell. I’ve been binging your videos. They take me back to my childhood. Especially seeing the old video recordings by your Dad. When you talked and showed the old gaming magazines, it really took me back. Everything nowadays is just 1 touch away on internet but back then, there wasn’t really internet. Only basic and only way we would get info on new games, was the monthly magazines. I loved drooling over new games . Real shame that most of ya vids don’t seem to have comments open. Great channel and great content. I love finding channels like this. 👍
This brings back memories, I got the Genesis Sonic 2 pack in 1994 for Christmas when I was in grade 1, easily my most memorable Christmas present. The 90s were special. Shoutout to the kids that had all the games when they first came out and not letting anyone play lol
You really get gaming hype. I was just like you. I'd get hold of any gaming magazine at my disposal. The hype was so intoxicating back then. It's like we were actually allowed to be authentically naive. There was an enormous collective sense in gaming back in the day. Sonic 2 was a huge event indeed. Finding out Sonic could turn yellow and become overpowered was a thing of beauty. The lack of information combined with an absolute overflow of technological innovation made the 90's the golden era to be a gaming enthusiast in. Just beautiful.
I remember sonic 2 coming out, I was round 6 yrs old, mom got me a sega and sonic 2, loved the game, still one of my best games, I did have a day off school though for it, Sonic 2 brings back so many memories, just love it.
I got the Sega Master System version of Sonic 2 back than which is different than the 16-bit version but I loved it so much, it was gifted to me by my grandparents for Christmas.
That's so cool.. I got the Genesis/Sonic 2 bundle for Christmas in '92.. I never knew until now that my parents went out and got that for me at release... We never had much when I was a kid, but my parents always made sure that I was taken care of and that no matter what I never felt poor. It wasn't until I was in 11th or 12th grade that I realized that we were essentially poor. Some may say that I was sheltered.. And that's true to an extent but I as an adult now just feel like they let me be a kid.. they didn't burden me with knowing what finances were. I'm going to have to talk to them about this when I go over for dinner in a couple days. Damn. Thank you.
Dude i wish i could travel back in time to see all of these games launches!! You make the story feel so exciting and special, i truly can imagine how it must’ve been back then!
This is the dad I am now to my 6 year old boy lol I was obsessed with Sonic growing up as well and to see this insane resurgence of Sonic mania happening right now for my 6 year old gets me emotional. The movies are great, the latest game Frontiers is awesome, there is a new sonic Netflix show coming Dec 15th. Omg it’s awesome!!!
Man, I'm from Brazil and here in my town, we still have a Games Store opened since 1992, its name is Casa Mágica dos Games (Magic House of the Games). I have been buying my consoles and games in that store since 1993.
You're so right about not knowing when new games would release, just vague release windows thay were posted in articles and early previews. I remember being obsessed with Streets of Rage after reading several preview write ups. I'd always look for it in Walmart, Blockbuster, Boomerang, Software Etc. anticipating it's release. Those articles and screen shots had me ultra hyped for it, so much that there was no way it could live up to the hype. Somehow it defied all odds and surpassed all the expectations I had for it. Everything about it was perfect in my eyes........the stunning graphics, the ear drum melting soundtrack, the Frantic gameplay, the epic boss fights.......I couldn't have been more excited when I finally got to play it.
I got my copy of Sonic 2 when my parents bought me the Sega Genesis a few years down the road from release date. I got Sonic 2 in the Console/Game Bundle. Opening that console is an absolute core memory of mine.
Sonic 2 was always my favorite sonic. I got mine packaged with my Genesis. One of my greatest Genesis memories was that mine came with a free game rebate. You got to choose between about 8 games and you sent in the selection via the mail and the game showed up. The choice was hard but I choose gunstar heroes! I feel like I made the right choice! I remember trying to decide between gunstar and subterrania! Also it was a pleasure meeting you at Retropalooza. Thanks again for the great content.
Sonic 2 is still one of my fav games of all-time. I would sit in class drawing tails on my school binders while I waited for the bell to go home and play. Ah, memories.
Thank you for these videos they bring a smile to my face. Especially right now as my mother my last parent is on a ventilator right now and organs failing. These videos bring me some peace, and some joy. Takes me back to when my mom and dad got me my Sega in 1993. I was 5 years old good times my cousin had got a Sega and Sonic 2 a year earlier. It lead to me getting a Genesis Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Tyler.
I’m so sorry for all that you are having to go through right now. Glad these videos provide some peace. Thank you for the comment. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well :-)
Sonic 2 was the first Sega Genesis game I ever owned simply because my parents got me a Sega Genesis with Sonic 2 bundled with it for my 6th birthday. That was the day I became a true gamer for life.
My 14 year old me in '92 playing Sonic 2, my mom or my dad probably had bought me either on my birthday or my brother's birthday or maybe during the holidays, classic cool game and still considered my favorite Sonic 2 game of all time next to '92 Streets of Rage 2, two of my top two favorite Sega Genesis games of all time. Especially Streets of Rage 2 in Mania level the highest level to get to when you beat the game on hardest level and fight hundreds of gang fighters at once with their power levels at the max, my all time favorite level to fight was at levels 7 and 8, when the elevator takes you up with that hyper fight music 'Expander' going crazy fighting off the gangs and robots lol. Cool games and cool times. Nostalgic. Nice review.
I got the Sega genesis or mega drive 2 in Australia with the Jurassic park pack for Christmas it came with Jurassic park, sonic 2 and columns I remember after getting the Master system 2 the year before the kid across the road taunted me for a whole year because he had a genesis and when I unwrapped my genesis at the next Christmas I played Sonic 2 straight away and have loved all Sonic games since one of my favourite childhood memories apart from being the first kid in my year level at high school to own the first PlayStation when it came out
Yes, I had to have the game. I had been anticipating it as at the time I was reading the video game magazines. I got it for Christmas that year and man... I celebrated the 30th anniversary and I feel old... I was 13 then... so many great memories and this was the biggest jewel in 1992's crown for me.
Ah, you're only about 4 years older than me. I was 2 years old back then. Your dad is a legend for getting you the game you wanted. My daughter is 5 years old this month and she loves Sonic too - thanks mainly to the two awesome movies that have come out starting from February 2020. I had a Sega Mega Drive (aka Genesis) in 1995 for my 5th birthday - that was the year PlayStation arrived in the UK. Loved the original Sonic The Hedgehog and Sonic 2 :) Never got the third game back then unfortunately. I have the Mega Drive Mini and really wanna get the Mega Drive 2 Mini soon.

Your Dad truly was the GOAT of Video Game parents. I seriously can’t imagine getting this amazing Game on day one. As always, love your videos dude!
Thanks man! He truly made it a magical childhood for me
I definitely remember when this game came out, I was 15....man you definitely brought some memories back for this guy!
@@MyRetroLife Aww 🙏🏿❤️
Dude Dad reminds me of Iwata.. Iwata was still a gamer at heart and his Dad was the same.. R.I.P to both of these legends..

I feel your admiration, brothers. 🤝 Some BADCP articles actually talk about this...
I never had a dad as well and Tyler’s videos make me super emotional his dad was awesome
Happy Turkey Day
This was the 1st game I owned, I got it for christmas in 1993! I didn't go to sleep for like 2 days because I couldn't stop playing it!

Great story! Today is my birthday so it’s crazy to see what was happening on that exact day and how Sega/Sonic has impacted my childhood in the late 90s. I hate to say that I’m 30 now, but i still feel young. Have a great day everyone!

I was 4 when it came out and I wasn't playing games at the time but it was the first Sonic Game I ever played. 😁😁😁😁😁
Did sonic traumatize you?
Yet another bittersweet video from you Tyler. I received my copy of Sonic 2 a few weeks later for a Birthday/Christmas Present from my Dad (R.I.P. ????-1997) just days after my parents separated. He gave it and my Sega Genesis to me during one of our last trips together. That whole time is a blur, but I believe that I either asked for it along with my Genesis or I got it as a return from a different game that year. Can’t believe this Nov 24th will be 25 years since he passed. Definitely miss him everyday.

Your dad was awesome man
I love how engaged your father was in these moments throughout your life. Seems like a gamer at heart.
Would love to see that footage if you have it!
@jeez it's not the best footage. Cameras were so huge back then and were hard to hold. We set ours up on a tripod and just let it record. We weren't even on camera when we opened the game but you can at least hear the excitement.
@jeez Alright. Will do once I find it! Will write here again once it's uploaded. :)
Yeah I remember back in 1992 when I purchased Sonic 2. I was the perfect age at 7 years old. Definitely my favourite game on Sega Mega Drive and will always have a special place in my heart.
Sent my poor old Grandma into the city on a bus to pick up my copy on Sonic 2’s Day. I didn’t get to play it till Christmas.
“So long, Guys!” 😂😂😂 Love this video! Your dad was the best!! 🥹
Thanks, my love!
Hey thanks! I feel the same way actually
@@MyRetroLife My man! \m/ -.- \m/
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Tyler! Meeting you at Retropalooza in Dallas was the highlight of my year man!
Same to you, Tim! Great meeting you and Happy Thanksgiving
Love Mario Galaxy. I too have a very special memory attached to it that I’ll share one day
I had equally amazing memories of this game.
But it was nothing compared to the joy I got from sonic 3 and then sonic and knuckles.
I had appendicitis and was admitted to hospital hours before it was going to burst! When I woke up from the operation, my dad handed me sonic 3 😁 one of the happiest moments of my young life.
Oh my gosh that’s one of the coolest memories with a video game I’ve ever read about!
The fact you have all that footage from 92 in unreal.
Its insane to believe that Sonic 2 was the most sold video game of 1992. Thats like the biggest and best Sonic fact
This is especially true in the UK. Sonic was the biggest video game character over here in the '90s.
I was 12 years old , my legend of a dad brought me that game for Xmas , I loved it , sonic fan for life , playing frontiers with my son today cheers
Im glad ur enjoyed our rushed creation in ur childhood we made people childhood.
I think, that's a reason why Minecraft was such a hit.
yes new episode, watching it with my son right now
Hope y'all enjoy it
I love seeing videos like this about my favorite trilogy. Sonic 3 will always be my favorite, but sonic 2 is also amazing
Wow. That's one top tier dad. What's even better is that you grew up to truly appreciate all the things that he did for you when you were a kid. Not everyone is as sentimental as you are. It's a great quality to have.
I love that you have this many home videos.
So much respect to your dad for a dope childhood moment.
Beautiful story, thankyou for making this
So happy to see you so happy talking about it
Parents really go above and beyond for us. Makes you really look back and appreciate everything. Thanks for sharing the story
That was one hell of a prank and I will never forget that happiness-
Dude, your dad is the best kind of dad. I had to work and do chores to save money to buy my games. It was crazy.
That 92 footage looks good.
crazy to think that this guys channel is basically his dads channel but his dad died in 2007. what an amazing way to honor his dad keeping his name alive. this guys dad truly is looking down upon him smiling
Thanks Spencer and same to you!
This video was just so wholesome, I loved it 😭😭
As for me, I wasn't even born when Sonic 2sday happened but Sonic 2 would become one my favorite games of my childhood nonetheless. I like to think that even my 4 year old me already knew what a huge game this was at the time of its release because I just cherished the game SO much. But of course, I didn't know anything about the release and the success until I got A LOT older. I'm so happy that we all share these happy memories about this game.
I got sonic 2 for the master system on Christmas 92. I was 9 years old back then.
And I still got it! Nice memories...
Sonic 2 was the very first game i ever played as a Kid... dam... the nostalgia really tears my eyes. thanks for sharing your childhood!
Wow, thanks! Really appreciate it
@@MyRetroLife whats up donkey
Your Dad was a very special man. It’s amazing that you have all of this video footage and memories. ❤
Can’t believe it’s 30 years old already. Unbelievable. Great video again my friend and thanks for sharing. Cheers from Canada.
Your Dad is a Legend!! I know he would love your RUclips channel.
This video bought back memories for me - remember getting Sonic 2 for my birthday, happy days man it was a magical feeling. Still love it to this day.
This brings back memories, I got the Genesis Sonic 2 pack in 1994 for Christmas when I was in grade 1, easily my most memorable Christmas present. The 90s were special. Shoutout to the kids that had all the games when they first came out and not letting anyone play lol
Thanks to share with people your childhood, it is really nostalgic, make me remember happy days. Best wishes from Peru.
I remember sonic 2 coming out, I was round 6 yrs old, mom got me a sega and sonic 2, loved the game, still one of my best games,
I did have a day off school though for it,
Sonic 2 brings back so many memories, just love it.
Damn. Thank you.
Watching your videos reminds me of my childhood to when I got the Nintendo 64 and Gameboy. You sir gave me back my childhood memories.
I love all these Videos.. Fantastic Parents.. I'm sorry for your loss every time I watch a video of yours..
You are so lucky to have the loving father that you did. Thanks for sharing your joy with all of us! 😊
Thanks Robert, love getting to share the memories I have with him
I was 10 and I just lost it. It was my favorite video game ❤
The irony I was just playing sonic 2
Excellent!
4:20 dude do you remeber playing karams wooden board games
Your dad sounds like the most awesome person ever!
Me and my brother had Sonic The Hedgehog 2 when we were younger, we would sit and play for hours. Love the game's soundtrack.
Nothing but magical memories of this amazing game! My cousins and I were blown away 🤩
I got the Sega genesis or mega drive 2 in Australia with the Jurassic park pack for Christmas it came with Jurassic park, sonic 2 and columns I remember after getting the Master system 2 the year before the kid across the road taunted me for a whole year because he had a genesis and when I unwrapped my genesis at the next Christmas I played Sonic 2 straight away and have loved all Sonic games since one of my favourite childhood memories apart from being the first kid in my year level at high school to own the first PlayStation when it came out
some dads are just better than others. you had the best dad of all time.
Yes, I had to have the game. I had been anticipating it as at the time I was reading the video game magazines. I got it for Christmas that year and man... I celebrated the 30th anniversary and I feel old... I was 13 then... so many great memories and this was the biggest jewel in 1992's crown for me.
Great story. Still love this game.
That Super Soaker brought back some memories too 🤓
I shed a real happy tear 😢 while watching this video your father was truly an amazing person.
Dad Esposito=G.O.A.T. just amazing man as a kid nobody could ask for more!
