Me too man. All the people claiming it's stupid will wish they had an EDC warhammer when they get attacked by a knight in full 13th century plate armor.
I know. You never think it's going to happen to you, but then out of the darkness clatters an enemy, encased from head to toe in steel. Your run of the mill Spyderco pocket knife is no match for that! Fortunately I have my war hammer.
That soldier helmet lasted way longer than I expected. I dunno if they're meant more to protect from bullets or from shrapnel, but it sure can keep SOMETHING protected. (You're still going to get a headache if that hammer gets to you, though.)
Eh Taking a hit like that to the face that crushes the helmet in that manner is most likely instant incapacitation. That first hit would be a concussion and shattered orbital bone. Would take most out of a fight immediately.
I just bought one and using it to carve up the turkey at Thanksgiving was poorly received by my families. I was accused of "showering everyone in stuffing and cranberry sauce" and "ruining the holidays, Jeremy". 5/10, might be good for eating soup out of.
Chainmail is effective against all forms of attack. At least it is when properly made, the mail shown in this video is cheap LARP shit. Real mail is riveted and or soldered together, making it immensely stronger.
Cody Swanson Da hell dude, why do you think mail was such a widely used type of armor if it only protects against from slash attacks. Like it was said, if properly made, can be a hell of an obstacle
What some of y'all aren't understanding is that blunt force even with a helmet on will fuck you up even if physical trauma to the helmet is not visible
what youre not seeing is every time he hits the helmet its actually bending and caving in with each strike. though it may not look particularly effective, one hit from that hammer would either kill you or leave you with the ability to smell colors for the rest of your life
-30 steal +600 damage when held by shao Kahn -200 handle durability when handle is wood +9,000 damage when crushing blow is applied to the skull +2mil legend points when 1 handing opponents skull and spine off
ok so i actually own this, and it is an awesome self defense tool. I actually shortened the handle down to 20" wrapped the handle with leather which does wonders for keeping a solid grip on it and I epoxy glued the head onto the handle, drove the set screw in tight as fuck and then welded it shut so there's no way the head will ever come off without burning the handle out of it lol. I keep it in my truck because of the rough neighborhood I live in and the ghetto ass warehouse district i work in. I've used it in training against my century BOB which i have outfitted with a 16g full riveted maille hauberk and 12g hardened carbon steel topfhelm and while this thing is awesome against softer targets, unlike the last clip of him punching through that butted maille (costume maille) hauberk, this thing will neither penetrate the riveted maille nor the higher grade carbon steel helm. It does dent the helm slightly though and has caused some mild denting/damage of the maille rings but no holes or breaches in the either thus far. I'd guess the helm they were using in the demo was likely 18g or 16g mild steel. Not complaining about the product at all, its actually intimidating enough just busting it out in a sketchy situation has gotten me out of a few jams already i'm just saying that some of the clips in this demo vid are a little misleading.
This weapon is scary! What if you were a plate armored knight, and then all of a sudden you get hit in the face with that? i would not want to be that guy.
If you're wearing properly made plate armor you would be fine. That is compared to wearing nothing. But it can still cause concussions and hemorrhages.
Meme Destroyer Not if you were hit with a warhammer. The concussive force would knock the wind out of you. Then they just have to crack your head open.
And here be the weapon that spilt the rubies from noble Prince Rhaegar Targaryen's armor into the fords of The Trident. Brute King Robert Baratheon won his war with the fury of a madman and the strength of a raging stag, struck true into the chestplate of the Last Dragon of Westeros all because he got blue-balled by the Winter Rose. xD lmao
Very good on face vs fiction. Robert's weapon was said to be so large that Ned couldn't wield it. And the weapon I simply decribed is based on the concept of both book and official art works of said war hammer. What could realistically be more accurate for someone to be that strong and what weapon he would use?
While I do appreciate that you have a lot of concern for the safety of your customers, and that you are considerate of the meat used in your demonstrations, but is a 1 minute disclaimer really necessary? Would it be possible to abbreviate it in the future, or remove the dictation? Not a big deal, simply a stray thought of mine. Thanks for the great knives.
Is that BUTTED MAILLE!?!? That's the armours they make for actors, no one has ever seriously worn anything like that for protection, it's always been riveted maille or soldered or closed rings.
Came home to find a knight in full plate trying to take my GF as spoils of war. Grabbed my warhammer and sent him packin.. Thanks Cold Steel. Lynn Thompson is still a hero in my book.
Could you kindly reveal to us the grade of steel that Crusaders Great helm was made of? Manufacturer? Thickness? So on so forth. I don't mean to be crude if I come across as so, your knives, axes, and hammers are great products, and so are your machetes from what I understand. But I have seen to many people try to use LARP armor for weapon testing, some don't even realize it. It would be greatly beneficial to the community if you revealed the details of that. I bring the same question for the chainmail, which you've done demonstrations on in other videos. and even more, you really shouldn't test chainmail on still wood to test it like you did in the other video, it should be over a gambeson or something of the like, or something freehanging. And the shield looked like it was designed to be destroyed, an authentic viking shield would have been more impressive, but I would still ask the same question for that.
Puxido against properly made German gothic plate it wouldn't do much. I hate videos where they test a weapon against a so called "armor piece" and it's just a piece of rolled stainless steel.
I stuck a titanium hammer head on an estimated 4 foot lead pipe, pretty good at bashing and I don't feel any of the shock, I've hit trees, jugs of ice, a jet ski which was fiberglass, and some steel tanks from inside the ski. Before the titanium head I had a steel head which had a curved claw so I had to pull in before it hit my target the results were nasty and unexpected but the Titanium head has a straighter claw, the majority of the weight in it now is all in the lead pipe and I'm hoping to spend some $$$ on a titanium pipe of the same thickness, it's pretty thin but not paper thin, it doesn't bend unless I hit with the pipe. Perfect zombie apocalypse melee weapon!
if the orcish filth returns to my home armed with plate armor i will know what to use, if they do not bend to the power of the greatsword. thanks a whole lot, cs knives

My mistake, I thought you were talking about the knights helmet, and just realised you in fact were not. Apologies.
Rhino1004 it took more hits than i expected i was like the soldier will have enough time to react but than i was like wait the blunt trauma
Rhino1004 and i ts used to protect from shrapnel and some bullets
It's used to protect against blunt objects, so if you use the sharp end, it would penetrate through the helmet in 1 or 2 hits.
