    Your hard work is the strength and beauty of both your vegetable and flower gardens. Not only is each vegetable quite beautiful and substantial, but also your magnificent flower garden transforms your garden into a perfect picture. I'm also always happy to see how creatively you collect your harvest which could become a beautiful painting. Having taught art for decades it's always a magical trip watching you and your wife present your very interesting and educational videos. Thank you for showing the transformation of your garden in your weekly demonstrations. I love them each week!

    Thank you so much for your wonderful videos! I've learned so much from watching them. Please, if you could, so some videos on how you process your produce for storage and some cooking videos also. It's always nice to see how the produce grown in your garden gets eaten in the kitchen. New ideas for some vegetables that I've never grown because I don't know how it's processed in the kitchen...especially the broad beans. Again, thank you for taking the time to do the videos and keep up the good work.

    Magnificent ! If the flowers belong to your wife, she must be as good of a gardener as you are! I really enjoy learning new things about gardening, we grow most of our own food here, storing the produce in a root cellar, freezers and canning (preserving). One is never too old to learn, and you are an excellent teacher. I'm curious, were you a gardener by profession? Hope that is not too personal :-)All the best, Howie.

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  8 лет назад

      Hi Howie, many many thanks for your kind comments, yes my wife is a good gardener! She has a good eye for colour. I first started gardening at seven years old and for a while head gardener on private estate. We both ran a garden centre/plant nursery together for a number of years specialising in shrubs, perennials and bedding plants to the retail and wholesale trade. We now share a passion, as you do, to grow and store quality produce from our own gardens. Regards Cliff

    Breathtaking! I'm fairly new to gardening, wish I were interested many years ago because I too have a bad back now so I have to take it easy, but gardening gets me motivated to go outside and I'm more apt now to eat vegetables I've grown myself. I recently found your channel and had to subscribe! I find more of the younger generation are putting out any information no matter if it's good or bad just to try to be popular and some even seem to be fake. What a lovely piece of Earth you have, thank you for sharing it and your knowledge!

    Hi Cliff, love your videos so thank you for them. I'm going to be planting lots of hanging baskets next year, I would like to plant them out with flowers that come back every year, what would you recommend? I'll be looking at about 150 plants so I'm very interested in doing my own cuttings. many thanks Rob.

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Grow Roots 4 Life, I would suggest using perennial plants, underplanted with Summer and Winter bulbs. And small evergreen shrubs, It would be quite a challange because of the small root zone, and would become root bound quickly. Not impossible but you need to do plenty of research, to select the right plants. Good luck with your project regards Cliff.

    Hello to you both, about a week ago I came across your videos and am hooked! And all my spare time is spent watching them all!. Such wonderful veg and flowers and very informative and full of useful advice so thank you to you both for your time and trouble to make them. Can I ask why you don't use the ' no dig ' method on your land instead of all that digging. Thanks. Pat

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks Pat.. I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the videos, we do enjoy making them. Because I'm a gardener of the old School, everything has to be dug over. When the time comes that I find digging difficult, I will look into the no gig method or have a new lawn lol. Thanks for watching regards Cliff.

      Castle Hill Garden Thank you very much for replying. Totally understand about the digging , you know what's gone into the soil and you can do the best for each crop which shows in your wonderful harvest results! Many thanks again for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Wishing you another wonderful growing season. Pat

    Hi Cliff, love your gardening videos. I live in the West Indies and have lots of termites on my fruit trees. I am thinking of applying grease bands to the base of the trees and was thinking of easy ways to do this. Do you think I can use Evo Stik Flashband and add some additional grease? Cheers and keep up the good work!!!

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  6 лет назад

      Thanks Pearl, Yes you could use flashbands make sure you use tree grease. You can also use tree grease direct onto the tree trunk.Thanks for watching happy gardening regards Cliff.

    • @CastleHillGarden

      Hi George, yes straw them but keep them in sunlight, cut them when they are well coloured and firm. They must be well ripened before storing. Mine will be awhile yet. Regards Cliff

    Hello again Cliff. I can fully sympathise with you regarding your back problems. I now am a "new man" after having spinal surgery three years ago, I refer to it as my spinal scaffolding with lower vertebrae fused, plated and titanium screwed. If this is offered to you, go for it would be my recommendation, I am 76 and can dig without problems.

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  7 лет назад

      Hi Cliff, I had a spinal fusion 20 odd years ago after a accident, you are right it was great, but after all this time parts are wearing out. I have problems with my knees my doctor said I need knee replacement but I'm hanging on as long as possible. keep looking behind but nothing has dropped off yet lol. regards Cliff.
