    Oh yes, I would absolutely love to see the garlic plaiting. Your produce is so beautiful I expect any day now, seed companies will be calling you for photos to fill their catalogs. I'll be sending you some of our rain straightaway since we've had so much that going to the garden is like slogging through a swamp. It is nice not having to water though, because I agree with you... that is hard work. Dog days are here and I expect to see some dry days ahead so I don't want to complain too much. Have a lovely week you two. P.S. Shoulda got that crane for those cucumbers ;) Bye now

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  7 лет назад

      Thanks TK, the rain would be welcome, but it can't be nice slogging through a swamp, It cant do the land a lot of good standing in wet. My clay land is so dry underneath it beginning to crack. Thanks for your lovely comments I do appreciate them, there are some more cucumbers developing I'm keeping my eye on them lol. Plaiting garlic next week, happy gardening regards Cliff

  • @dianeherbert998

    All the hard work has paid off! There is nothing like eating home grown fresh vegetables and you have an amazing and bountiful garden. I would be very interested in seeing how you plait the garlic. Mine is no quite ready yet, but will be in 2-3 weeks. I watch for the rain too, as even with my small garden (16 feet by 40 feet) it is a lot of work and I think the rain gives a better soaking for the plants than I could do. Looking forward to your next video. Thanks, Diane

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  7 лет назад

    Oh what a joy it is to watch your videos! Everything in your garden is so clean and tidy; I'm sure that's because of all the labor you put into it. I didn't plant anything this year because the summers in my part of the world get up to 40 Celsius (and beyond) and I have such a hard time in the heat, so I enjoy living vicariously through your garden.
    As a viewer from the USA, I wonder what you do with all the gooseberries and currants; they're not very popular over here (though available in some specialty catalogs). I'll echo a lot of other commenters and say I'd love to see Diane's work in the kitchen after you've brought in such an abundant harvest.
    I started watching your channel last year after you showed us how to braid onions; I'd love to see the garlic.
    Thank you!

      Thanks Marie, I would not be able to cope in your Summer temperature. Would you be able grow some crops in the fall when a lot cooler. The berries make lovely Summer puddings, and when frozen down make Winter crumbles and pies.Yes I will show how to make the garlic plait next week.Have a good week regards Cliff.

    I am new to your channel and have thoroughly enjoyed this episode. I live in South eastern Virginia where it is warm and humid in the summer. In my first attempt at gardening I have battled mildew on cucumber plants and birds in my tomatoes. I have had some really nice harvests despite the lack of rain, high temps, critters, and mosquitoes galore! I hope to get the kind of harvests you have!!!!

      @CastleHillGarden  7 лет назад

      Hi Pattie, welcome to our channel, sounds like our problems but without mosquitoes.Have you tried the insect mesh It is very good at protecting the crops, from most pests. The birds are a nuisance on the outdoor tomatoes. I'm sure they wait for me to go in then start pecking the ripe tomatoes lol. Have a good week regards Cliff.

    Hi Cliff and Diane, you have inspired me so much that Ive planted garlic, carrots, spring onions, cabbage Brussels sprouts, cos lettuce in seed trays as it is way to early to plant them out in the garden but i just had to do it. its in the middle of winter here in
    Australia i live in the Mediterranean climate so it don't get to cold around here it be around 4 to 8 degrees overnight rarely will it go below zero so no snow for us on the plains however we do get frosts so ill have to wait until September before planting out in the garden, my peas are just about to go to flower so ill be picking peas soon, as peas grow best here in Autumn, winter and spring our summers are far to hot so we cant grow peas in summer even the tomatoes need to be under shade cloth on the hottest parts of the day.
    In one of your video you said you burnt your tomatoes while you did a burn off, well that's the end result here if we don't cover our tomatoes they will blister and go white where the hot sun has burnt them so we water mornings and at night twice a day especially when the temperature reached 30 to 45 degrees anyway i love your videos and i look forwards to the next video happy gardening Cheers Tracy

    • @CastleHillGarden
      @CastleHillGarden  7 лет назад

      You have been busy Tracy, sounds like you have everything planted. I hope you have a good Season and good harvest. It looks like you have to plan well, to avoid the hot Summer. It must be hard work but I hope its rewarding for you.Glad I was able to help and inspire you, thanks for watching regards Cliff.

    Yes please show a tutorial of the garlic plaited with raffia, they are so pretty! I did mesh tunnels like yours and am happy with the results. Now I need a fruit cage; deer got to my bluberry bushes and ate every single berry from 7 bushes, both the ripe and unripe ones.

      @CastleHillGarden  7 лет назад

      Hi Rosedale, the insect mesh tunnels are excellent at keeping the crops clean. Yes do get the blueberries covered for next year, so disappointing to lose the crop to wild life. Will show how to make the garlic plait when they have all dried out. Have a good week regards Cliff.
