Good day sir. May I ask for your honest opinion. Would it really be wise, practical and worth restoring and maintaining old hf radios at least from the '80s? Reason I ask is first, I can't afford to buy even a secondhand radio second, I've got an IC-735 that was my father inlaw's who passed away a long time ago. The radio was working before he passed but was put in storage for more than 15 years. So now, it just turns ON and that's it. Some say just replace all the electrolytic capacitors and it may come back to life. Thank you so much and all the best.

      Yes definately.
I restore and use radios dating back to the 1960s.
1980s radios generally need very little work.

Just shortened the top section a few inches to raise the frequency of it.
