M0JCF Ham Radio
Добавлен 20 июл 2021
Not a lot to say. Just a channel for me to upload my videos - Operating, Construction, Design. Will all be Ham/Amateur Radio related. Not CB or Freebanding. I'm not anti those, but keeping this channel streamlined.

CQ10m SpE FT-757GX & 5/8th vertical working the weak & v weak out of Sweden & Poland

So I heard the Swedish beacon on 10m albeit very weak so took a chance calling CQ10m. Lo & behold, first reply was George SB7S. Interesting as I was at 50W with an old rig & silver rod. He was 1KW with a newer rig and a beam, yet we were at similar signal strengths... That was followed by Slawo SQ1FYY. Very Weak, but we swapped reports, locators and some tech details...

Nice contact what antenna was you using.
Just a dipole in the loft. 15mm copper pipe. Radiating SE/NW.
Well done on helping the fellow ham out. A lovely rig... Enjoy. de ei3grb
Nice chat Mark and thanks for the upload 🍓😊👍 73 de Rodrigo 2E0RPS

I have a USDX plus just like yours, it works great as a receiver BUT the broadcast audio on SSB Lower side band sounds very distorted....like it's overdriving the amplifier, it sounds saturated.... Any fixes?
I never used mine with an amp. They're class E. Try lowering the bias max & min.
@@m0jcfhamradio75 What do you set the PA bias max or min at? It sounds distorted even without an amplifier, just direct connection to an antenna
I no longer have one, but I show the settings in this video...
Updated firmware to ezgumer_V0.22.....Locks on Welcome screen :(
A little more narrow bandwidth on SSB would probably help to reduce noise. On my FTDX101D I have a DNR that really enhances faint or noisy SSB. Those contacts would be very solid CW QSOs. ruclips.net/video/cUNm8cpS4wc/видео.html
Here's a trick for those of us who run vintage gear: use the IF shift and notch filter controls to manipulate the effective receiver bandwidth. Sometimes using the RIT/clarifier along with the other controls will get the QSO in the log. Good DX.
nice vid, 5/8th vertical 27mhz antenna? can you put a link to your antenna?
Originally yes. 27MHz. Mine is the Hygain Venom. I've had it for years. Ebay as I recall about £35
@@m0jcfhamradio75 did you have to modify it?
Just shortened the top section a few inches to raise the frequency of it.
Great primer, just picked one up from amazon today. Regards m0kty
Super bit of kit. I've had mine about 6 months. No problems until I changed bands without retuning my ATU. I blew the BS170s, I had some in stock from previous projects. Pain in the neck getting the old ones out. Replaced them and output is now fractionally higher (5W on 20 metres rather than 4.5).
Whahey! It was a good day today. 2 Italian, 2 French, 1 English and Spain. A good haul ❤
Tanks verry good vidéo, 👌
you speak so beautiful. I love hear you.

My dad (N4PVC AKA SILENTKEY) had this exact rig...I have a lot of good memories from field day as a kid with it. Have fun with it.
Thanks. I've owned about 7 of these.
Just curious if the output power is adjustable? Or is it just BIAS? Thanks for the awesome info! 👍👍👍
Hehe, my first HF QSO :P OE6UKN Here, we set up a 10m vertical, radio were a Yaesu FT-891 on a mountain after doing SOTA
Thanks for the two attempts. As you can see, it was very difficult to hear you. But you're "in the log." I made notes on QRZ that QSB killed it for us.
Thanks for the demonstration! I have been a ham since the 1970s and this is my first commercial QRP radio but it is different from yours. Yours is a USDX+ mine is a USDR+ with the orange bands around the case (which means that it is a knock off) but I set mine up using your settings and it it is working like it should. I can't wait until I can get it into the field and see how well it works.
I no longer have it now.
I keep getting Connecting to the serial port... Failed to connect to the serial port.
Really push the connector hard in. Or get the cable I used?

Ok thanks bro, do you know the price range they go for ??.
I paid £165 for this one. I've paid as low as £100 But £175 - 230 is reasonable
Blessed love my brother, Great link up on 10meter, where can I get one of these radio to buy, 757GX, or GX2, watching from Jamaica west Indies !!
The only place I can say is Ebay. It's where most of my 757GX csme from.
Nice Work!
Thanks!
Some nice contacts, although a couple of those guys would benefit by easing up on the speech processor. Btw, the S in RST has nothing to do with the S-meter reading. Someone could be S-2 and still be 5-9.
And I forgot, at 33:43 your camera changed polarity. Lol.
I'll agree to disagree on your final point. S2 is Very Weak as I recall. S9 is Very Strong. I think the RST was written before S meters were a "tool." So now, I go by S meter. But for me, R is the important bit.
@m0jcfhamradio75 Fair enough on the agree to disagree.
One of the first rigs I owned when first licensed in the mid 80's. I had a lot of fun with it. Ivan VE7IVN
I just paid 600 for one. Four-modules equipped goes for 1000 stateside. Great catch. 73
Fantastic. Greetings from G1YFR. Yorkshire. Originally from old Kent road. Thanks for posting.
I bought one to put into the car. Not a bad radio for the price with lots of features. My Uniden AX144 from the 80s, I think has a better recieve with better audio tone. But this radio sure offers a lot of bang for the dollar.
Fine Business with that beauty !!
thank you for the contact Mark! 73' from South Sweden. 😉🎙
You're welcome.
great stuff a good ragchew is always to be welcomed hi hi 73s
RIP John Vernon. Yanky Sugar Bravo..
what is the cat system?
Computer Aided Transceiver. Just a way to connect the rig to a computer. Back when this radio was launched, most likely a Commodore 64 or Amiga 500? But today, with the correct cable, any PC should be OK.
You get it all the time if you watch all the RUclipsrs
Get what Andy?
Same one tuning on the band we’re you are trying to have a QSO
@Andy2e0ree Ah got ya. Yeah, bad practice but no one will admit it. That said, a good notch filter should null it out.
Growing up in Brighton, have fond memories of Amberley museum. 73, M7DKU.

Is that a swan 350 there i see just the corner of just to the right of the uSDRX?
Yes. I have a Swan 350 a 400 and an English copy, the KW Atlanta.
When you say kill the output do you mean killing the TX? I did try a couple of TX's before looking up the settings when i saw I wasnt getting a reading on my tinysa, I see a reading on my tinysa now and I tried to listen to myself but it says a little bad, but maybe thats because the Quansheng can only receive ssb and I was transmitting in LSB? Its getting me a little worried
Yes. Blow the final RF transistors.
@@m0jcfhamradio75 It still seems to be transmitting tho so hopefully i got lucky
@@m0jcfhamradio75 someone said my mic sounds over modulated/really bad, but im looking inside and i cant see any signs of anything thats been blown
