    Thank you so much for this info. I bought the 4 switch - 1 monitor. I have my laptops under my desk with closed lids but co-workers can't hear me when I do this. I end up placing my laptops back on my desk which takes up way too much real estate on my desk.

    I have a personal laptop, a work laptop, and a 32" monitor, a desktop keyboard and mouse. I want to be able to see all 3 displays on at the same time, while being able to use both laptops at the same time while using the 32" monitor I have in the middle as a shared space for both laptops. I want the mouse and keyboard to work for both laptops, and depending where my mouse's cursor is (on the work or personal laptop) I can start typing there. I want to be able to copy and paste from one laptop to the other laptop smoothly as well. Ideally, I would like the 32" monitor to be split in middle, half personal half work. how do i do this? So basically 3 displays, but with the 32" monitor in the middle acting as the divider, where half the screen is for work laptop and half the screen is for personal.

    Thanks for the great demo. I have an iPad (used to draw and explain things on it) and lenovo laptop. I videoconference via Google meet and share the screen on external monitor. During screen sharing will I be able to switch between iPad and laptop and still the audience to see from the monitor shared all that I am explaining and presenting? what about audio and video (if I have a video I want to share with audience from iPad) will they be able to hear the sound?

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 месяца назад

      Hey, not sure how you connect the iPad to the Lenovo for video conferencing but it should work fine if you introduce the KVM to the setup. If you use the iPad as one of the inputs in the KVM it should work perfectly fine. The KVM just routes the video and USB signals from the computers/iPad to send to the monitor and peripherals.

    Great video. Couldn't you plug the C920 directly into the KVM box? Would it also recognize the c920s mics that way? Or is the hub required?
    I also run bookshelf speakers with 1/8 plug. Assuming I could plug into the L/R port on front? Thanks!

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад +1

      Yea, if you have only 1 standard USB device, you can go straight into the KVM. The point of the hub is that it needs to be powered if you are using multiple devices because the KVM doesn't provide enough power for multiple USB's plugged into an unpowered hub. And yea... plug the speakers into the front L/R port and select the correct audio output on your OS (usually comes up as the name of your monitor).

    Thanks for the well made video. I have a question:
    My workstation at home does not support Thunderbolt at all, which I never though much of as I dont need to disconnect it ever. However, my work laptop which i bring with me every where does have Thunderbolt which makes it so much easier to setup.
    Is there a KVM device available that allows me to connect both my workstation (using hdmi, usb-c, etc. ), but also my work laptop using only Thunderbolt?

      Yes but you’ll still get usb2.0 speeds since it’ll throttle to the lowest connection protocol (which is what makes USB backwards compatible).

    I need to use a few laptops (win 11 and Chromebooks) on one laptop (Chromebook), using the one's keyboard and screen for it and the others.
    Tried using Chrome Remote Desktop between two Chromebooks, but that gives annoyingly blurry text. Besides that, although you can save connection settings for a Windows computer, I see no option to save the connection settings for another Chromebook -- have to enter a 12-digit code each time.
    My productivity could really get a boost with a suitable solution! As then I could spread a great workload and resource usage over a few laptops while facing just one.

    The S22 has a single USB-C port and the laptop has an HDMI, VGA, and USB 3.0/USB 2.0 ports. I can connect a USB-C to HDMI cable from S22 to KVM and connect a HDMI to HDMI cable from laptop to KVM. I think it will work.

    Very helpful. Thank you! For videoconferencing, is it necessary to use the headset, or can the built-in mics and speakers of the laptops and monitor be used with the dual system setup? I've been readily able to videoconference using the built-in functionality when working with each laptop as a single system. Just wondering if anything in the dual setup using the KVM switch upsets the balance to where a headset is recommended (or in the video, were you relying on the webcam's mic for sound input?).

      You can use the built-in mics and speakers of the laptops. We used a headset just to showcase how a headset would be used... and to point out that it has to be an RF headset (not Bluetooth).

    Hi. Great video. I wanted to ask if there is anyway to use the TEsmart kvm 2x1 switch for a 1 monitor and 2 laptop setup, while the laptop lids are closed?? That’s reason I invested in one to be able to work on my MacBook and my HP computer only curve monitor while the laptops are put away to save space on my desk. They only work on the monitor if the lids are open, which to me defeats the purpose of the kvm if the laptops just stay open in order for me to use it. I really need help in this as I’ve been trying to figure it out. Thanks in advance for your response. (And for reference I have the KVM that uses an HDMI)

    • @avicotech-us

      Hi Sabin, the KVM will give video output with the computers lids closed, you will have to change the lid settings on your computers, look for 'Change what closing the lid does' on the search box, and select 'Do nothing', now you will be able to use to computers through the KVM with the lids closed.

      No, that is not a feature of this KVM. I'm not aware of that feature on any KVM but it could exist. The best way to do achieve what you are looking to do is via a cloud platform or moving files to a jump drive and then switching to the other computer and taking them back off the jump drive. Just note that if you are using an external drive with a Mac, you will need to eject the drive before switching inputs of the KVM.

      Hi Carolyn, the KVM's hotkey commands are set on the dedicated keyboard and mouse port (has a keyboard and mouse logo) if you try using the hotkey commands on the USB 2.0 port on the back of the KVM it won't work.
      Since the KVM only has one USB 2.0 port the USB Hub comes handy when you want to use multiple peripherals.

      It will work with just 1 connected to the KVM. If you are constantly unplugging and re-plugging a laptop, you might need to reboot the laptop and KVM from time-to-time... but that's pretty normal with docking/undocking devices.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад

      For more monitors, you either need more KVM's or a KVM that can do 3 to 4 monitors. TESmart has only single and dual monitor KVM's but you can "hack" a setup by using multiple single monitor KVM's. What's important to consider (for any KVM with HDMI) is that you are going to need 1 video connection for each monitor. So if you have a triple KVM, you will need 3 video connections from each computer. This is because HDMI cannot be split and extended.

      Absolutely, you can connect the printer on the USB 2.0 port on the back of the KVM, if you plan to have multiple peripherals (headphones, mic, webcam) we recommend an externally powered USB Hub.

    I could use your advice. I currently use 2 MacBooks (one personal, one work). I'm purchasing a 3rd (Alienware) at mid-year to accommodate my Unreal Engine production later this year. I'm planning my setup and am thinking of the following three options:
    1. One 34" monitor for all 3 (until I can afford a 49")
    2. Adding a 2nd 32" monitor for the Alienware and just using the 34" for the MacBooks
    3. Getting two 32" monitors for 3 laptops.
    Which KVM should I consider that would give me display ports for 3 laptops and 2 monitors? I think I know which one is best for 2 laptops and 2 monitors.

      You will need this model: buytesmart.com/products/dual-monitor-kvm-switch-4-hdmi-pcs-2-hdmi-monitors-updated-4k-60hz. It's generally better go with HDMI unless all of the components are capable of doing DisplayPort. (It's easier to convert from DP to HDMI than from HDMI to DP.)

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  4 года назад

      If I pulled up the right model of the Air, it has one Thunderbolt port and two USB3.0 ports. Setting this up to this specific KVM should be pretty easy. You would need this TB to HDMI adapter to connect the video and then use the USB portion of the KVM cable that came in the box. Here's a link for the adapter that we recommend: amzn.to/3mCObPb
      Since you have enough ports already, you don't need the Multiport Adapter as shown in this video.

    • @avicotech-us

      It should be very similar to the setup in this video. Just get the right connector for the iMac (likely USB-C to HDMI) and then your laptop will probably have a standard HDMI output. All of the concepts would be the same as in this video, you just might need different connection cables based on your iMac and HP Laptop (work) connections. My situation is that I have a pc for casual use and another one just for my programming and video editing. I'd like to be on one pc and still have access to the files of the other one.
    Is that possible natively or do I need an external hard drive directly connected to the KVM switch that I would use as a shared database ?

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад

      The best way to do this is to Share or Network your computers. The KVM keeps both computers completely separate (this is good for security reasons) so you can't share files across the KVM. As you noted, you can dump onto an external drive and then pull off on the other computer but networking/sharing the drives on each computer will be faster and more efficient because you won't have to switch back and forth.

    Can this KVM be used to connect 2 Laptops to 1 ultra wide screen and display both simultaneously (PBP) and control both PBP screens without flicking the yellow switch? • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 года назад

      To be able to use the Picture By Picture (PBP) the computers should be connected directly to the monitor without involving the KVM, we haven't try this ourselves but if the monitor doesn't fit the 4K parameters the KVM requires it probably won't work with the KVM involved.

    • @avicotech-us

      Yea, this is the type of KVM you'll want. If you're going to switch just the middle monitor, then go with the buytesmart.com/hks212 that you see on this video. Since your computers should have HDMI outputs already, it should be really easy to setup (easier than what is shown in the video). You'll run a connection direct from the computer to 1 non-shared monitor and then a connection to the KVM for that shared monitor so you can switch back and forth.

To answer your question, yes you can adapt from VGA. If your laptop has USB3.0 though, it might be better to use a Dell D3100 docking station (amzn.to/3aJRK38) and stay all digital. Hi mate, nice video. I have a question. I want to run my Imac and my PC laptop with a similar set up but not really for zoom, but I still use it often. I am a sound designer and I use both computers for different purposes. The thing is, I have an external soundcard (focusrite scarlette 2i2) that is plug to only one computer at the time, so I have to unplug and plug the soundcard each time I switch computers. Basically my question is if I do the same set up as you do, this won't affect the audio ? What I'm thinking is to get a second soundcard, so both computers will always be always plug for the audio independently, but I will just have to press the switch button and will have screens switched with mouse and keyboard, between my two computers but this won't affect the audio, yeah ? If KVM Switch Dual Monitor won't affect my audio which definitely need to be run with an external soundcard I will buy it.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад

      An external sound card receives data and then converts that data to audio and then sends the audio out to another target (speakers, recorder, etc.). Obviously it also goes the opposite way if you're recording. If your external soundcard uses USB, there should be no difference between the KVM being in the middle of the connection string because the KVM merely passes along the USB data from one device to another. (The KVM doesn't have an effect the data.) I think you should be good. The only hiccup might be how well your computers register the USB audio card. If you are switching back and forth constantly I would go with 2 different sound cards. If you mostly use one machine at a time, it should be ok to share the soundcard with the KVM.

    Great video, just one question, is there a way to simultaneously control both laptops at the same time? Lets say I want to install something on both laptops, and I want the actions replicated on both at the same time, is that possible?

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад

      No, you can only control 1 at a time. Technology doesn't exist to control multiple devices with 1 USB input. It's a limitation of USB because it must have a single direct connection.

    Working from home, I'd love to do a setup like this. My home computer is a desktop with plenty of connections. My work laptop, on the other hand, has a VGA connector. I do have a docking station with two display ports. Is there an adapter that would make that work?

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  2 года назад

      If you only have a single monitor, then you just need one DP to HDMI adapter for your docking station. amzn.to/3yilDzB

    Do they sell adapters so I can plug my Dell 35" monitor into the KVM HDMI port? My cable is a Display Port that plugs into a docking station.

    Great video, exactly what I was looking for. One question though, why do you need two cables from both the laptops to the switch. Isnt just one HDMI from each to the KVM sufficient?

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад +1

      The HDMI cable if for the video and the USB cable is for the data.

      Yes but if you are using a Mac, you will need to eject the external hard drive before switching.

    Is there a switch for a tertiary device that uses only the monitor ?
    For example I have a Mac Mini, Windows Laptop and an HDMI Switch that's connected to two video game consoles.
    I currently use the HDMI Switch for all those into a 4K monitor, but I would like the ability to use keyboard/mouse and PC peripherals with this switch. Then having a tertiary one just for the consoles.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  4 года назад +1

      I'm not sure I 100% understand. But you can use this KVM as a video switch as well. So you can plug in 2 computers and a gaming console that doesn't have a USB connection. You would just switch to the gaming console like you would any other input. Let us know if that doesn't answer your question.

      @@avicotech-us Thank you for your prompt answer. I saw the other video with the dual-screen setup after writing the comment. That is exactly what I am looking for. However I had just one more question: Will the USB Hub with the other peripherals (camera, mic, headphones) also switch or can you choose to only switch the monitors ?

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  4 года назад +1

      Any device that is plugged into the KVM will switch. So as long as you use the powered USB hub and plug the devices into that hub, each computer will have access to those devices.

    Is it possible to have both on the ultrawide screen at the same time? For example i have an ultrawide Acer monitor a mac pro and a pc. Is it possible to have both inputs working simultaneously with the same peripherals?

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад +1

      No, that's not a feature that we've seen on any KVM and don't expect any feature like this in the future either. Some super ultrawide monitors have this feature built-in but there's only a few out there so you have to do some digging.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад +1

      Sorry... for your second question about peripherals working simultaneously. No, that's not possible because of USB technology limitations. It needs to resolve to only 1 host. You can have multiple devices connected to that same host, but only 1 host.

    Hey! Thanks for the vídeo :) isso have a question:
    Is it possible to use the 2nd laptop only as a monitor? So, if an additional monitor could be handy, we could have 3 monitors while working from one laptop?

    • @avicotech-us

      No. That's not possible without software and I'm not even sure if there's software that is capable of doing that or not.

    Hey there, I'm interested in using this KVM switch in a similar setup, but one of my input sources would use a DisplayPort (Desktop) and the other one would use HDMI (Macbook Air M1). Is there a KVM switch for that? Or should I get the KVM switch with two DisplayPort inputs, and an adapter from HDMI to DP for the Macbook Air? Having the DP is essential for my GPU on my Desktop.

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад

      We generally recommend to go with the HDMI KVM's because it's easier to adapt into HDMI than DisplayPort. Assuming you have a monitor with HDMI input, go with the buytesmart.com/hks212 and get this DP to HDMI adapter for your desktop: amzn.to/3duRpRi

      Unfortunately you can't split screen on single monitor setups. You can do this with the TESmart dual monitor KVM. Check out this video for a demo: ruclips.net/video/v6K4eIHZXZI/видео.html

    hello are we able to connect a wired headset to the KVM and switch between both computers? Can I add speakers to the KVM so it can play with both setups? If not is there another product that would be recc. thanks

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад +1

      Yes. In this video we demonstrated using a wireless headset that was plugged into a USB hub that was connected to the KVM's USB2.0 port. The KVM will allow whichever computer that is selected to use the headset. You can also use speakers and just need to select (in your operating system) which audio output you want to use. You cannot select both audio speakers and the headset for audio since Windows will only allow you to have 1 output at a time.

      Hi Youbaraj. Open up a ticket on buytesmart.com (use the orange support button in the lower right corner). Make sure to include the make/model of your PC's, docking stations, and monitors. We'll send you a list of what you'll need and how to hook it up. Also... check out the dual monitor setup video. It'll be more relevant to your situation: ruclips.net/video/1lxk7AphhcY/видео.html

    This would be good for my music production, as I produce on a laptop but edit my music on an older PC... Currently I have to switch the mouse and keyboard over everytime... As long as this would work with an Older PC too, then we're golden! 👍

    • @avicotech-us
      @avicotech-us  3 года назад +1

      Yea, we use it similarly with a laptop that we use tethered while taking pictures, transfer the files to our centralized storage, and then switch over to a powerful desktop to do graphics work. As far as older computers go, Window's-based PC's will not be an issue. Some older Macs (like pre-2014) can sometimes present some issues with MacOS using the wrong color space but we rarely run into this issue.

      Hi, with this KVM model it wont be possible, you will need a Dual Monitor KVM upgrade and connect the 2nd computer as an output, you won't be able to use it as a computer itself.
