Great vid! Honestly, If I had to choose, I would go for the CPL, especially for water type shots. And that doesn't just include oceans, rivers, etc. but also reflections from foliage sheen. Removing the reflections really gives it almost a totally different image and almost looks "clear". I'm not sure if you turned the CPL enough to remove the reflections in your examples but I'm sure it could have. Unless you are going for that type of look. But yeah, it all depends on what shots an individual wants. NDs will always have a big place in controlling shutter speed and the motion blur. I just feel like FPV shots are so quick and wide that the difference is not as apparent. Maybe the bests bet is to have both of them.
Hey, love the shots in your video. I recently got the avata and have been using gyroflow to stabilize my videos. I am noticing my completed/exported video lags hard at certain points of the clip. I have tried exporting in Pro res and H265 & I've also tried the previous Gyroflow version, but no solution compared to the smooth video I see on Gyroflow pre-export. Any tips? Wondering if it has to do with the new 10 bit? What workflow do you use to export/edit your videos?
Hey Marcus! Thanks for watching. Funny enough I have used giro flow for a while but all the shots you see in this video are shot using steady shot! I know it gives you greater flexibility but for my needs I went with the integrated stabilization 😊
Love this video and have an Avata myself and was wondering what your camera settings are for that day if you remember for ISO, white Balance, shutter, etc. I have some issues from time to time with quality looking almost washed out, artifacting happening on the footage and this happens regardless of the amount of light in the day or close to sundown. Just looking for some help and guidance.
Thanks! I set the camera to flat profile (as flat as possible that is) and do the color grading in post - that might be the biggest difference. on most of my flights I let the camera decide the settings, because there is a lot of variations in lighting conditions and since this is an FPV drone I don't want to miss a branch or something because I am lacking light - if you see what I mean. So I'd say set the camera to cinelike-D (flat profile) and try editing it in post see if you can add saturation, etc. Take care!
Thanks! Usually I’d go 30p with 1/60s shutter speed and NDs but unless you are shooting outdoor in a controlled light environment, that’s often hard to do since you’re shootings FPV and I then switch to auto settings. Cheers
Very basic: - cine like D - 4K - Wide - 50fps That’s pretty much it! I then do the color grading - usually with a pre-grading to rec709 and then I use some custom LUTs. Lemme know if you have any other question Cheers
Hey, I shoot everything 4K, 60p and flat profile (cine like-D) and then do the color grading. Careful with the export of the file (make sure you select the highest resolution possible in 4K). Cheers
Hello, everytime I export my video from FCPX I feel the video quality is not the best one specially when I want to post a video on Instagram since I need to crop it 9:16 for it to be full screen. Do you have any suggestion? Please help me out. I have an skydio 2 and the resolution without even have to edit it looks much better than avata. I feel like there has to be some kind of trick (I already have the ND filters and the improvement is insignificant) Looking forward to your response. Thanks ✌🏻️
Try creating a new project in FCPX using the “vertical” mode and chose the highest resolution. Then zoom your video to 319% (that’s what I do). Make sure your settings on the drone are the highest resolution possible in cinelike-D and that’s about all I’d do. Hope that helps cheers
hi, how do you choose which nd filter number to use? also what fps would you use with the nd? also any specific ev level to target like -0.3 or -0.7 or 0? thanks!
Hello, you want to be at around EV 0 In terms of ND, i normally put it on and check before I start the drone by aiming the drone to the area it’ll fly through and see if it’s enough a strength or if more or less is needed. Take care
Hey there, this was shot at 60p. I've set the ISO to 200 I believe and 1/120th for the shutter. I've then added the NDs on top to compensate (but I only do that outdoor with the same lighting conditions, otherwise I set it all to auto when the light varies) cheers
Shame Avata doesn’t do 30fps; ND filter just not doing much for obtaining that cinematic look. Adding motion blur in post prob best way to achieve the cine look.
With the latest update as of 2 weeks ago 4k30 is now here on the avata. Aside from the Remote ID situation that comes with the update as well you should give it a shot!
sry but i dont know why nature needs filters. some days are bad somes are better. i never will forget my vision and fly for myself... if it looks good, nice. if u have a problem with it, nice to ; lets discuss. but pls dont tell me whats better than me. (oppinion of a poor eastern german boi^^). so good pics btw. great cam. show everything in natural colors.

Man, thank you so much for this video. It really helped me. Much respect!

Good Video bud, I did not know that 180 rule, thank you for it, Keep going!
Glad it could be helpful to you! Take care
Awesome video! Could you maybe make a compilation video with the landscape shots of Switzerland shot on the dji Avata drone?
Thanks man! That’s a great idea!
Great Video.
Whats the best videograph cinematic settings for the AVATA?
4k30?
Thanks

Thank you so much!! 🎉
So if I am filming at 60fps I will put my shutter speed at 120fps and use a suited nd filter and this will cause that motion blur effect ?
Correct - but the shutter speed is 1/120s not 120fps 😉
@@cris_photography sorry that’s what I meant lol, thanks a lot for the reply!

@@cris_photography ahh appreciate this, very helpful. Do you edit in premiere pro and apply your pre grading/luts there?
I edit on FCPX but ya otherwise that’s pretty much my setup 😉
how do you get so nice and sharp video out of the avata? My videos look like 1080p out of a smartphone

@@cris_photography I already do that.. The video is set to 4k/60p, comes out as 4k/60p but looks bad like it has a low resolution
@@ChillVibesAT Hello friend, did you find out how to make it sharper?

Hello 👋🏼 ND 8
Cheers
Does freewell make nd+polarizing filters ?
For drones? Or regular cameras? This video is about NDs and PL so not sure what you mean
@@cris_photography im asking for the dji avata.
Oh you mean an all-in-one type, no don’t think so
@@cris_photography do you know if any such filter exists ?
