Hope everyone is doing well out there. Just wanted to be clear to those mechanically minded viewers with a keen eye. I ask Aaron to double click on the torque wrench in case I miss one (with a clear shot). Obviously I'm standing there all day getting hours of footage and we understand how people appreciate the use of the torque! So that is the reason for the double click you see at times. Cheers, Cam
Hope you xray this one
@@DDai-qd8uk not doing the scan anymore. It became too time consuming & costly + too much of a rabbit hole buying one anonymously. The Elves project was the end of the road on this.
When i apply the recommended torque, it is bound to come loose..
@@MaartendeJager Get your torque wrench checked. It is quite possible that it has gone out of spec over time. Dropping or bouncing it will hasten the process as well as leaving it set.
@@jamesmckenzie3532 thx you are right about that, however i do it by feel and know going way over it. These torque values are all so minimal...
No carbon btw
Just a simple domane AL
I'm from China I don't believe Elilee is considered more high end than Seka.
I've never see anybody riding their bike in the mountains at all.
All I know is that they make a triathlon beam bike.
I think this bike build is way too expensive.
At this price range I would just consider a tarmac sl8 (pro full bike or sworks frame with UT groupset)
I hear you, I think any higher priced Chinese brand runs the risk of immediately being compared to mainstream options. I know first hand, mainstream is way easier to sell in the second hand market, let alone those who want to be supported via a local bike shop. All I can say right now is that I feel the 4000 AUD frame price is justified from a performance perspective. Personally, I'd rather ride this bike than a Factor 02 Vam. A bike I have previously owned. The Elilee is not quite as light but significantly stiffer. I am just one person with one viewpoint of course. Cheers
guess seka is a bit older than this elilee, do you personally know anyone who rides seka? what donthey think about it? as compared to mainstream branded frame
Honestly, i would get on a plane to Aussie,
just to get my bike set up by @AaronDobbs love your work man.
Salute.
Cheers
I love how these videos make you think you could build a bike in like 20 minutes, when its actually 4 hours and 20 minutes when you're not a pro mechanic.
This bike looks sick, thanks for sharing!
Under 5h for a ready to ride bike? You'd have to waste zero time, at which point you've done it multiple times already.
a lot faster if you have mech groupset and rim brakes ;)
@@Silidons91 no!
The background music was soothing.
Another Masterpiece; 6,23 kg is crazy! I feel like I am on a fat bike now with my bike lol
haha cheers Chrissi.
Any update? IS this project still happening?
Do share your experiences with the xcadey powermeter, I've heard some things about it, not all positive
great build video, nicely balanced pace not too long or short
If it were a rim brake build you could have had pedals 😅
So is this Aaron's new shop or is this in your studio?
My store in Maroochydore .Sunshine Coast QLD
@@BS16Tech nice Shop
8000 euros for this bike?! No way!
Looks way more complicated than when I was a kid and working on my BMX, very well done boys 👍
That music is really annoying.
I went to China 5 times in 6 months but never saw anyone riding a Chinese bike even at local races... They were all on super expensive mainstream bikes. Have you seen the Bross Zenith frame yet? Looks super nice!
that's how it is in china in every industry...there is more desire for foreign stuff than local
Beautiful bike, brilliant bike mechanic, find the whole process so interesting 👍😎
Junk
Great job!!Each action may seem simple, but only a skilled installer truly understands the expertise and proficiency required.🙌🙌🙌
So glad this bike is getting a review. Its a sl8 killer to me. I love riding mind.
How is this an SL8 killer?. I built mine for 6,000. It weighs 6.6kg with pedals, two cages, garmin, and radar attached to the bike
@@kimwarner6050 its less than half the price for same frame weight
I'd still rather have the SL8. Personal support from the shop just up the road in case of problems. Resale value on these Chinese bikes will be pennies, especially in this climate.
@@kimwarner60506,000 USD? What is the group set & wheels? How much does it weigh ?
How does the bike ride?
It's mesmerising watching Aaron Dobbs work, as a livestock farmer , I see anything less than 19mm as heart surgery.
Oh!!! Neill's gonna hate that seatpost clamping 😂
Yep, Aaron said the same thing.
That system on the velobuild 218 had so many instances of cracking that they stopped selling the frame altogether. Velobuild is cheaper, but also heavier, so using more material for sure. It's one of those designs we know is inferior, so why risk it when the classic plug thing on the other side just works so well on so many bikes. Also, Asians are on average so much lighter than in the West, so the further you are from the factory, the more likely you are to crack your ultralight frame. Shipping companies will be pleased though.
Keen to hear your feedback on the wheels. My wheels are using same freehub body, super reliable but a shitload of flex when out of saddle pushing hard. Alot of horizontal rim movement
What are your wheels?
@@CamNicholls Parcour. Rims are fantastic, stable and solid, usual Sapin spokes.
Nice looking bike Cam lets see how it rides next please keep safe Guys love the video.
Cheers David.
looks a lot like a Time ADH
Would have been nice to weigh the components, because the weight is by far the most notable aspect of the build. Sexy shots of the bike at the end would have been nice too. As a chonky person, I would never spend that kind of money on a frame with that seat post clamping system, but then again I have no business riding ultra light builds. Looking forward to your review and comparison.
I’m in the market for the lightest bike with mudguard mounts, that would be a cool build!
I need somebody to start getting ahold of Chinese carbon TT/triathlon frames so i can have some piece of mind before going all in on one
Probably not in the minority but, with a builder of Aaron's level, I would have rather this be an hour or more long. Cheers
Looking forward to you reviewing the cranks
ok who is spending 9 grand on a bike these days? c'mon
£6700 is decent for that biild.
Those seat stays remind of the old blade 795 😍
Hey cam, are you planning on reviewing/ testing chinese wireless shifters?
Beautiful bike, and awesome build by the way! Ride safe!
No mate, not at this stage. Cheers
Wow that’s light look forward to the review
That is a very nice bike.
Looks similar to a Canyon frame.
Schnazzy whip there mate.
What is that pinky tool at 3:54?
Looks like a sanding block that would take the rough edges out of the inside of the steerer tube. Never seen one before.
Hi , it is a coned sanding block produced by Icetoolz , to remove any final burrs or rough finishes once cut . Cheers Aaron
Did they call it the Elilee Blize because they knew you Aussies would call it an Elaylee Blaze?
haha
Mixed feelings about this bike. I really like the cranks and want to buy them for my own build. Also like the brand.
But the price and the weight are semi impressive. Add pedals and the bike is near 6,5kg. I have a Scott Addict Supersonic 2022, with Sram Red, Drive 65mm wheels and some other light parts and I am at 6,6kg. I have paid less for it than this bike costs and also bought everything brand new. For example I have bought the complete Red Group with crank an powermeter for under 2000€ and this was 2 years ago.
Snappy ride
Will you be getting the new Seka?
Yep Neill has been speaking with them directly. Will be interesting to compare it to this one.
Did you pay full retail for the groupset or is that a freebie?
The entire bike was provided to the channel and the sale proceeds will be split between Neill and I so we can be compensated for our time. Freebie would be taking something for nothing, in my world.
@@CamNicholls Good justification 👍
We don't need dream bike builds... we need 105 mechanical builds under 2000usd that all of us can buy... 😢
Close RUclips and go to work so you can be less poor.
@@pierrex3226ha ha ha
If you want that, you need to switch channels. Bike farmer, Spindat, and Path Less Pedaled are all better for the wallet, but none of them will be able to put 6.2kg on the thumbnail.
weigh with pedals pls
People use different pedals. So:
6.225kg + pedal weight
