    It's great to watch someone be encouraging in such a genuine and straight forward way. There were so many points you made where I thought 'This makes so much sense, why didn't I think about that?' but of course it's hard to fight through the programming of feeling you have to look and dress a certain way. This video was really helpful, thank you :)

    Such great tips Val, my favorite one being “forget sizes and labels, buy what fits!!” If the clothes fit : you will feel like a million bucks and confidence will kick back I promise you😍✨💁🏻‍♀️be kind to yourself 🙏🏼😘

    Excellent video. My body is fluctuating like crazy lately and I am far from my goal weight so in the mean time I have invested in accessories that I love (like purses, scarves, jewellery, hats and shoes etc ), things that will still fit even when my weight fluctuates. I still buy pants and tops but I dont spend as much on them because I know I wont be wearing them forever. I have also purchased several different sizes of pants and I buy bottoms with elastic waists which are super comfy but still look chic. No one can see the elastic because I dont tuck in my tops and they just look like normal dress pants to everyone else. I deserve to look and feel good in my clothes no matter what size I am. I no longer accept feeling bad or frumpy in my clothes. I love my wardrobe now and I feel good regardless of my weight.

    Hi Val, such good tips, you always make me feel much better about myself, your voice and demeanour are so comforting and loving, thank you so much. You have a beautiful soul Val, and I guess we also have to remember that people remember you for you and the person you are and not what you wear or wore. X😻

    Thanks for the pep talk! I'm almost a year nursing/postpartum with #2 with plans to have another in a year or so. The past 5 years have been really hit or miss for which of my clothes I can wear, and I think I'll really think about these tips and how to put them into practice

    Thank you for the video. I am currently going through a trial process with my wardrobe. I have thrifted a few items to try out some different styles and now I started making some clothes. I discovered I really love skirts and I am really enjoying this new side to my style. If I could go back and tell my younger self something it would be “don’t be afraid to try other things” and “the only person you have to please is yourself”.

    Thank you for this video, I have definitely felt shame about not fitting into my clothes. I have even been known to buy clothes in the size I used to be in the hopes I will fit into them soon😭 I just ended up with brand new items in my wardrobe, still with the tags on that have never been worn😭...and so the circle of shame continues ❤x

    The size issue really resonates with me Val. I have a large bust for my petite frame and often have to size up to accommodate. I can wear an (Australian) sizes 10 to a 16 (American sizes 6 to 12). So now I go by chest measurement of a garment, not the tag size. Thank you for another excellent video 😊 💓

      Do you find that most size charts are accurate? I followed one on a recent purchase but it was too large, but then in another style it fits correctly.

    • @katem3961
      @katem3961 2 года назад +2

      @@amandathompson7691 You're totally correct. I tend to know what brands are accurate for my body and stick to them these days, when I truly need something. Also, I check the reviews to see if the brand is true to size and quality check items too.

    • @katem3961
      @katem3961 2 года назад +2

      @@amandathompson7691 I was also thinking that the style of a garment will effect the fit too. A relaxed fit will be looser, tailored closer fitting, oversized etc. Have to say I have been caught out in the past buying my usual size in these categories.

    These are wonderful tips, Val. Thank you so much for sharing this! It’s nice to come away from the closet rack and talk about the mind and heart under the clothing. I’ve been continuously experimenting with my style to really find what allows me to kind of forget what I’m wearing and live my life. For a while, I was trying to look too tailored and chic, it actually caused me to stop doing what I love to do because I wanted to keep my clothes nice or literally didn’t have the freedom of movement to do it. I’m wanting to relax my style while still maintaining some sophistication. I’m finding that sometimes a larger size is more flattering and comfortable than a smaller one! Also, I have everything in my closet from an extra small up to large and extra-large. It all depends on how you want your clothes to fit and feel on your body. I do have to say though that I just don’t feel good wearing black and other dark colors! So what I have actually resolved to do is take that color out of my palate and stick with mid-tone earth colors such as browns and beiges. I just felt so drained wearing black and decided to box up everything and put it away for consideration. I may still keep my black purse and Lucia block heels out. I haven’t missed anything yet and feel so good changing my base colors of black/white/grey to mid tone tan/creams/warm beige.

      Thanks Ashlynn, you always have the best things to say! And I totally relate to you with wanting to just relax my style so I can go live my life and not think about clothes too much 😅

I haven’t purchased anything because I want to lose weight first but it seems since I’m still breastfeeding I’m keeping the weight even though I am restricting.
