    I agree on high rise jeans. I’ve never liked them because they never looked or fit right. My issue is I’m tall with a long rise. When I finally found a pair where the high rise was high enough, I realized how flattering they can be.

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 года назад +2

      Yes, I’m so glad you found ones that finally work for you! 😊

    • @mmclennon
      @mmclennon 2 года назад +2

      Exactly me! I have a long rise - 13-14” lol. When stores call 10” high rise I know it’s not for me. Madewell is the highest rise I’ve found at a reasonable price point.

    • @TG81
      @TG81 2 года назад +2

      Same here! The Everlane Rigid Way High jeans are also good (12.5” rise) although they still hit slightly below my waist.

    • @JP-nl4dp
      @JP-nl4dp 2 года назад +3

      @@mmclennon thank you for the recommendation. Was picking up something at the mall and saw the madewell jeans in the vintage style with a 14 inch rise…they actually made it to my waist so naturally I bought them!

    I liked your first oversized shirt over on the wide leg trouser look haha😂, but i like oversized things in general, but ive also learnt that proportional dressing is a sure fire way to dress well, but not the only way, its good to know about proportions for when you feel lost under a tent of fabric and youre not feeling like you have the energy on a particular day to carry the oversized look that day

    Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your journey. I’ve been through a similar journey (without the children) and I think like you I’m casual at heart. I work from home but wear a company shirt and sometimes need to do Manila labor so they need to be rugged, but my Pinterest board is covered in blazers, resort wear, and fantasy self clothes. I’m trying to embrace my casual style and just make an effort to put together better fitting clothes with more intention.

    I have the same problem with high-waisted pants. They always hit me too low and not at my actual waist. So now that I know this, I'm able to look specifically for pants that have an extra high rise! Funny how small technical details that we never really pay attention to, make a big difference!

    • @ValKovalchuk
      @ValKovalchuk  2 года назад +1

      Yes, I think an extra high waist will be perfect!! Let me know how it works out 😊

    • @kat_thefruitbat
      @kat_thefruitbat 2 года назад +1

      I have this same issue! Levi’s ribcage jeans work well for me- I like the cropped straight leg- I think the cut is super comfortable and flattering, and the inseam works as the perfect “petite” full-length (28 inches). Also, vintage bottoms tend to have a much higher rise than modern sizes- vintage trousers are my go-to for “dressy / workwear” bottoms!

    outfits formula that works for you really has changed how I shopping!! This is such a perfect overview of core styling concepts! 🤩 Lots of great reminders and some ideas I haven’t considered/heard before- thank you! 😊❤️ I especially love the idea of dipping into someone else’s closet to test out different colors before buying anything! 👏 My husband is much more adventurous with color than I currently am 😂, so his wardrobe will be very helpful in this regard! 👍👍 The cool, darker green looks so rich and complimentary on you compared to the warm, lighter green! Your eyes and hair stand out much more, and your skin and teeth are brighter! 😍 I also love that you mention the fact that you can just as easily choose to go AGAINST popular styling concepts as well, since they are just ideas / starting-points and shouldn’t be considered as “rules”! 👏 Amazing video -As always!- Thank you again, and I hope all is well with you and your family! 🤗

    Colours were a huge change for me. I am a winter (brighter cool tones). You are so correct Val, you can wear any colour just the correct shade will be more flattering, I look tired and unwell in some colours. A very new thing for me is the rise of jeans/trousers. I would wear midrise because I am short waisted (petite hourglass). However, recently I tried an ecru straight leg high rise and was over the moon with how they hit at exactly the right spot for my very defined waist. I was so excited, so now I will look for jeans and trousers with that same rise as they are just so comfortable 😄 Great video, thank you 💗
