First of all, this is easily the cleanest GX I’ve seen and I’ve seen a ton of them now since I’m shopping these for my next build. Perfectly tasteful. Great mods! I have the same vehicle without mods…finally just got my side-steps off and it looks better with clearance…I like that front black grill/light/winch setup. Decent!
aw brother once you finalize and start production on that bumper mark me down for one!! i def need that setup on my rig!! perfection!! if u want a production development rig and test vehicle over in these east coast conditions keep me in mind im always overlanding taking the rig out, im actually going to start putting my mavic zoom and hero8 to use and start creating some awesome youtube content!! im loving those black headlights for the gx man u could make some killer money if u wanted to do a couple i have a couple buddies that would def be interested in doing something like that!! but anyways stay safe and keep that in mind i do have a powder coating guy so i could handle that but i would love to help develop some step out sliders and mayb an ez to install ladder rack to get up to the top of these rigs.. keep me in mind brother i have a ton of ideas and seems like we both have the rigs to get the job done but developing some new parts for these babies would definitely be a huge money maker for the both of us!! keep it in mind the money will not lie!! take care -peter

Looks like had to do a body mount chop even with the -38 offfset wheels to get the 35 inch tires to work? What exact size is this Mickey Thompson tire? Thanks1
sick man. i found your sight. It looks nice. I am currently building my 97 honda civic, fully built b18 turbo, 5 lug itr swap. Then as soon as that is done my fzj 80 goes in for the ls3 swap. And when that is done I am going to sell it and buy a gx470. Then I will for sure be looking at your bumper. Very cool.
They are not unfortunately, I would get a bumper from Lil B's Fabrication or Coastal off-road but you need to weld that bumper together yourself or find someone.
Not really an off-road rig question, but have you ever considered upgrading the stereo to get CarPlay or Android Auto working? I haven't found a solid solution yet, but you seem to know what you're doing. Great videos! I like the latest with the boom camera setup ... and can't beat watching you pull out a bus on a wintery day. Jealous of that Western Canadian wilderness compared to Southern Ontario suburbia. Keep that stick on the ice!

Is there a reason you went with a -38 offset? i'm about to do my gx and was wondering if you had any insight before i started. I already ordered my wheels (black rhino sandstorm 17x8.5 0 offset) they also have a -22 offset available. I also am going to rock 35's and will be going with Kanati trail hog 35x12.5R17LT. Suspension- i am going with ironman 3" front and 2" rear with spc upper control arms and air bag delete kit. bumper has also been ordered through red dog as well as body chop weld plates. I Just wanted to check with someone who has already done one before i get going. Thanks
That sounds like a good plan! I just went with -38 for the looks and because it helps keep stuff away from the body of the vehicle since the tires are the furthest thing out.
Awesome and thank you! I had a muffler shop cut off the factory muffler and just weld in a straight pipe, still super quiet on startup which is nice and not obnoxious in my opinion.

I notice the lack of power in the V6 when out and about loaded down when going up long grades etc...I also like the "manual" transfer case over the on the fly versions (buttons/dials).

If you don’t regear with 35’s it’ll be super annoying. You’ll be constantly hunting for gears and rpms will feel off

What's the difference in fuel consumption between FJ and GX? I know one is V6 and other V8. Would be interesting to know.
They are pretty close, on 35’s with no regear I get about 12mpg combined and my buddy gets around 14mpg

Did you install extended bump stops to limit the uptravel of those tires to avoid it eating the top of the wheel well / fenders?

I went with a 10.5in Phoenix touchscreen. It's worked flawlessly for 3 years. Basically, it's an android tablet.
