Bill Brown has definitely taken some influences from Hans Zimmer's work . Example Rainbow Six has such strong "The Rock" (1996) soundtrack vibes. Perfect fit. Kudos to Bill.
Yep. Could be almost complete and lose someone and couldn't help but restart. Game had reall atmosphere and feel to it, and the music was a BIG part of that, wether it was the main tunes or the incidental stuff. I did get Siege last year in the Steam sale but didn't actually try playing it until last week, actually quite enjoying it compared to the previous arcadey incarnations, but still wish we could have the original just redone with current engine, planning phase included. Currently trying to get R6 to play nicely on Win10, even just watching the intro and hearing the main menu music is nostalgia!
They are garbage indeed - but only to our generation who grew up with the late 90’s games - Generation Z is different and willing to spend billions on what we call „garbage“!
There is some hope left for this genre. Check out Ground Branch. It has some of the original devs from R6 and Ghost Recon. They're doing some exciting things that fans of this will appreciate!
I guess, devs should make remake this game absolutely with this amazing soundtrack in UE4 or 5 engine! That old style game is better than tons of new garbage!
With our A.I. also please. I remember having my team members just moving back and forth on the front of an opened door, so much to dismay the tangos that they didn't immediately shoot😅

I couldn't say it any better, god damn I love Rainbow Six Raven Shield. It made me so happy back in the days, good memories. Glad im old enough :) Started with Doom 2 in year 1994.
i love this soundtrack when my mum and dad split up i would listen to it as i slept before bedtime. i would imagine a flat plane with me and my horse galloping with nothing stopping us. going along the soundtrack with the cross fell mountain behind us
WHERE IS OUR MODERN DAY RAINBOW SIX?!?!?!? Shooters have gone backwards, and it's a shame. I really miss games like this. Thank you for uploading this. I ripped the music from the PC disc back in the day and listened to it a lot, but it's been a long time.
***** They managed to make it feel so realistic. Ghost Recon which came abit later was just as good imo. We do indeed need more reaslism shooters today, combined with the slight element of rts.
nichoyeah Indeed. The action phase planning made the original R6 really immersive for me, especially with the wide array of orders you could give your other teams/elements to execute. Including hold points. Loved every bit of the game.
It's only about spectacle that can be shown in a video short enough for a zoomer to watch and garbage "competitive" (actually nobody cares but it means streamers) and moba (feminine character design and cosmetic money) or BR type crap (because streamers = free advertising). Tactics take time and planning and the satisfaction can't be displayed in a short clip usually. Back when this game came out, there was no real video/tv media coverage of PC gaming at all so you had to read actually read a relatively lengthy review, so you could more easily sell people on tactics and strategy and slower paced games.
I love how it combines the stealthy, tactical vibe with the melodic and emotive. Track 5 at 3:59 is a good example of this. Starts off all sneaky and tactical and then gets emotional at 5:13.
Listen to the track starting at 11:00. You can hear this subtle guitar in the background that's very reminiscent of The Rock/Armageddon that just sends you back to the 90s
I’ve been listening to this since 1998 (or whenever the first game came out) and it has motivated me as I’ve gone through some pretty interesting careers. I can honestly say it’s a part of who I am, and will always love it as a result. Thanks for uploading!
The track at 10:38 always reminded me nicely of early work of Hans Zimmer with the chords, guitar and percussion. But when the piano comes in, it's like ''oh yeah it's Rainbow Six!'' This soundtrack is very good all the way through and at times very unique also.
Wouldn't say they killed it, Vegas was good. Siege looks like it will be great very inside Hostage Rescue. I understand why they dropped the part I liked in N64 the planning but they went with popular demand for FPS. What's sad is Rainbow Six is the only series like it, no other CTU/SWAT/HRT games around.
Ostermonster92 Vegas 1 and 2 were good shooting games but they were not Rainbow Six...as far as I am concerned Rainbow Six series was killed by Ubisoft after R3 Raven Shield.
***** I liked Vegas, but I'm not a huge multiplayer fan, so I'm not that excited for Siege. It's too bad they dropped the single player story they have going for Patriots (though even with that, I had some reservations). I want them do make a Rainbow Six that focuses on story, and international cooperation, which the originals kind of did (not so much a great story, but international cooperation). It being tactical is totally fine, though it depends on how far either way.
It's hard to believe it'll have been 23 years this August. My absolute favorite game of all time to this day, surpassed only by Rogue Spear with 1's campaign imported.
Track 8 (at 10:37) really is something else. This and the menu track are signatures of the Rainbow Six series, regardless of what they're putting out today.
I was 8 when I first ever Played Rainbow Six, my father didn't knew about it;) And I was a Pro in this Game, Now Years later, I played it on my ps3 and I missed the old days when I was younger...... I have still a Ps1 and all my Games. I have Like 70 Ps1 Games still left. And I took care of my Ps1 and my Games, like if they were a Diamond or something... These Old Days.....
It,s so sad to see a frenzy PVP from such a great game... They made a hell of a "colliseum" from the Rainbow Six series... I'm glad they we're able to make Ghost Recon Wildlands, at least it's so much more to the old games than the actual Rainbow Six is to the old ones (like, nothing...)!
1. Ding Chavez was actually the surviving sniper from the spec ops team in the novel & movie "Clear and Present Danger", by Tom Clancy of course. 2. The assignment of dynamic classical music (sort of modified Baroc-Roccoco) as BGM for special operations started with the movie "The Rock", starred by many prominent actors and actress of the mid to late 90's. Its soundtrack was composed by none other than Hans Zimmer himself. And it all made me feel like I am actually on duty to save humanity every time I played the classic Rainbow Six series.
I remember while choosing the characters, had to be really careful so that they don’t die in the mission. My go to was Chavez , the blond male sniper, a chick named Galanos and Santiago lol😂😂😂
I love this music. I played the OG RS on the remake of the original PS for the first time, so I’m not an original fan of it, but I loved it. I absolutely loved it. This music was what stood out for me the most
Track 8 all day, I used to put the game disc in my CD player and rock this soundtrack back in the day . My friends thought I was weird but some of them were in the know and rocked out with me
Track 20, the mission failure theme, is pretty unnerving, like a horror movie. And given what would happen to the world in this game if Rainbow lost, it fits (for those who don't know, end of humanity by virus) Tack 21, played when a team member is killed, almost sounds like "the last post" which is played traditionally at military funerals. Fitting given the circumstances. It's mournful.
I was in a clan called SMURF (they had created the BSW mod pack if anyone remembers). I remember some of the top clans back then were TUFF and SOD (Symphony of Destruction). Unfortunately, we can never go back to those times, but they will live on in my mind forever.
I was there! in the asia pacific room with 56k modem and later ISDN connection in 99-01. I was there 911 happenned. We all cheered for America back then...
I must have been from the age 9-12 playing this on MSN. Waking up early and playing all morning. I can't remember the clan, but I remember people "recruiting" other members, or maybe "recruiting rooms". Definitely updated the game frequently and got patches on the regular. I played the shit out of this, Monster Truck Madness, and Outlaws online. Thanks for reminding me!
Brings back so many memories of planning and then executing and hoping everyone comes out alive. I like siege, it has been the first Rainbow I have liked since 3 and Black Arrow. But nothing compares to the strategy and planning involved in this game for the PC.
Although the game's soundtrack never had an official physical release, all of the tracks from the PC game are playable audio on the PS1 version of the game.

Those of us who want to create purposeful and meaningful games instead of just making money now have that power at our fingertips.
Bill Brown knew how to make music that oozed specforce discipline and strategic/tactical planning. There was also a degree of emotional optimism and respect. He also knew how to make a killer anthem (which he did a lot for Ghost Recon 1). New tactical games just use edgy synth. I don't think they get this stuff, I think they just parody it and try to capture it superficially. They treat it like it's all cinematically Hollywood and dudes with skull masks rather than a career/profession of top operators. And you see it in the games too--we've gone from realistic/plausible operators to anime waifu girls and meme guys in dad shorts or cringey painted ballistic masks. Red Storm knew what was up. Ubi is a kids' toy company, but Red Storm had vision.
i remember playing the fuck out of this, my dad had the whole collector's ed ''briefcase'' with all the games from the 90s-early 2000s in it ... A lot of people grew up playing nintendo stuff, i grew up with this amazing franchise
Back in the day when Rainbow Six was a military action thriller grounded in realism and strategy. Now it’s an over-the-top battle royale shooter with aliens, loot crates, and no single player modes.
Track 8 - Every time I had my operator selection , field kits and floor planning setup done this song made me rethink, “Damn this deployment is gonna be real…better bring some extra gear.”
Anyone remember The Zone?? Playing with 16 player rooms, Kill House, Roadside Ambush, Airport, Hacienda, and then came Rogue Spear OMFGGGG so many fun memories!
Still listening in 2020!-2023!!!!!!! My you captured my first and only loved video game!! Rainbow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @2:55 HAS ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And 3:15 sec!!!
8:17 When i have spended hours and hours to programing all the teammates to complete the mission, without any losses. That was the grand challenge of this game. Good times.
I grew up with this games, i payed and planned all of them with my best firends together. In 2012 i finally got myself the 800 Sites long Book the game was based on, it was just epic to read it as a proloque to all the games. Sad new world gives us this stupid multiplayer battles in "Siege".... so i got myself RS Rogue Spear on ebay for a few bucks... hello again Mr Daniel Bogart =)
films/games around 1999 were Art, wheras most of the nowadays productions are only burgers too me... 1. appetising, then bought and consumed- end of story..
While all the other teens were playing Mario Sunshine and Super Monkey Ball. I was clearing rooms, rescuing hostages, and taking tangos down. If you watch the television series 24, much of the music for the early seasons, sound just like the music from Rainbow Six. Sean Callery had to be a Rainbow Six fan, track 7 planning is way too similar to music from 24.
All ubisoft has to do make the first ps1 version of the first rainbow six but add planning and make good levels and apparently, it will need God graphics because that's what's most people want.
There should be actual titles for the pieces. I would go with... 1. A Hostage Was Killed 2. Mission Accomplished 3. The Alert 4. Intel Briefing 5. In Position 6. Pure Recon 7. Strategizing 8. Lone Wolf 9. Execute 10. ? 12. ? 13. ? 14. ? (These are kinda short!) 15. In One Piece 16. Who Tipped Them Off? 17. Tangos In Sight 18. ? 19. Contact 20. Fall Back 21. Man Down 22. Wrapping Up 23. All That And More 24. Objective Complete 25. Campaign Successful
I had most of the PC versions of this game, but I also remember getting the N64 version. You can only take a 4-man team anywhere from 4 teams of 1 or 2 teams of 2. Team AI was shit, but playing 2 player CO-OP was actually pretty good game.

8:41, that synth sound, it's the same synth sound used in robin s Show Me Love and other good songs of that era, I miss that sound.
track 3 reminds me of the movie "The Rock"
I love track 8. x)
that piano in the back round man got me. 😂💜
+Classical Vibes Me too. It has a very heroic vibe to it. Does it make anyone else but me think back to the distant past?
>Track 8
>Most replayed
Hell yeah.
My favorite is the planning 🎶
Waw I have loved this sound track a good memory off playing this game wen I was young

We are in 2021 these songs are epic from a long time ago nostalgic game
17:53 Man Down! Man Down!
18:05 Your team was wiped out!
Epic childhood game! Soundtrack nostalgia!
8:17 My best part!🤍
While all the other teens were playing Mario Sunshine and Super Monkey Ball. I was clearing rooms, rescuing hostages, and taking tangos down.
If you watch the television series 24, much of the music for the early seasons, sound just like the music from Rainbow Six. Sean Callery had to be a Rainbow Six fan, track 7 planning is way too similar to music from 24.
Played this game in like 1999 lol still remember most the music
why did the soundtrack just want us to stay on the planning screen... man so many memories.
I used to play the living hell out of this and rogue spear on pc.. no game comes close to this or socom 2
All ubisoft has to do make the first ps1 version of the first rainbow six but add planning and make good levels and apparently, it will need God graphics because that's what's most people want.
There should be actual titles for the pieces. I would go with...
1. A Hostage Was Killed
2. Mission Accomplished
3. The Alert
4. Intel Briefing
5. In Position
6. Pure Recon
7. Strategizing
8. Lone Wolf
9. Execute
10. ?
12. ?
13. ?
14. ? (These are kinda short!)
15. In One Piece
16. Who Tipped Them Off?
17. Tangos In Sight
18. ?
19. Contact
20. Fall Back
21. Man Down
22. Wrapping Up
23. All That And More
24. Objective Complete
25. Campaign Successful
Fuck Siege, this is where it's at!
Wow at :30 seconds this theme is killer. Reminds me of being in the military!
I had most of the PC versions of this game, but I also remember getting the N64 version. You can only take a 4-man team anywhere from 4 teams of 1 or 2 teams of 2. Team AI was shit, but playing 2 player CO-OP was actually pretty good game.
