As a Malaysian, I have been living in foreign countries since I was three. Now I am back in Malaysia as a high schooler with 0 Malay knowledge regarding the fact that I am taking Malay Second Language course! Your videos really helped me clarify upon the pronunciations that I should take note about! XD thank youuuu!
I'm from America and have been living in Malaysia the past year. I just watched this video and realized it was my Malay's friend's birthday the next day so this lesson came at perfect timing. When I wished them happy birthday, they were so surprised! Haha. Thanks for your quick, digestible and fun lessons!
Morning- Pagi, Afternoon-Tengah hari, Evening-Petang, Night- Malam, Chicken- Ayam, Gold- Emas, Fish-Ikan "A" is pronounced as "AH" "E" is pronounced as "UH" "I" is pronounced as "EE" "O" is pronounced as "OH" "U" is pronounced as "OOH" Welcome- Selamat Datang Happy Birthday- Selamat harijadi
I’ve been staying here in malaysia for few year’s but till now, I don’t know how to speak malay, thank u lisse for your helpful videos, im able to learn malay step by step❤️!
For more information: Happy Birthday it's actually either Selamat Hari Jadi or Selamat Hari Lahir. lahir = born Happy = Selamat, Birth = Kelahiran, Day = Hari ---> Selamat Hari Lahir (well "Kelahiran change to Lahir bcoz it is shorter :) ) but local people always sing Selamat Hari Jadi and of coz with the same song. Then, for "E" , it has 2 pronunciations. 1. "UH" for example "EMAS" 2. "AE" for example "EPAL" so, it kinda depends on what word is it. Hope it helps :)
Please continue your online class. Starting to live in johor bahru more often and thus equipping myself with some simple conversation malay will help me immensely! Thank you.
