    Thank you for this info. Have changed this setting, Although not sure if it’s even been working on my account, as I have been waiting for payment on some accepted counter offers, I sent in the last few days. Hopefully will yield positive results. I remember a few months ago, Zee from only cool stuff posted about issues with this policy. A big problem he was having is buyers not realising that they had auto paid and then requesting cancellations after item had been shipped. IMO, a much better solution to solve the non-payment issue would be to use the Vinted model. I.E item still remains available to other buyers until it’s paid!

    • @Married2Reselling
      @Married2Reselling  8 месяцев назад +1

      This is really interesting. Completely agree with the Vinted way and it staying for sale until paid. I guess they're worried about the delay in checking out if more than 1 customer wants the same item. I'd have it so if one customer is in the checkout page, the other customer gets a push notification showing a 30 second wait, and then another notif shortly after to say the item is available still (if checkout didn't occur).
      We were still getting non-payers with the box ticked as I think it's being rolled out over a period of time for both buyers and sellers (in September they stated "In the coming months").
      An increase in cancellation request is definitely likely, which is why weve relaxed the blocking of buyers for cancellations for the time being.

    YES agreed! I did know about it, My big issue with this was the lack of initial notification from ebay as you said, however as a seller & buyer, I as a buyer have actually signed up for this as its super quicker! plus I'm a big believer in if you don't have the dosh you can't have it! So don't offer , bid or buy! It seems you have your listings mainly on offers so I don't blame you for omitting it from your ebay.

    • @Married2Reselling
      @Married2Reselling  8 месяцев назад

      Yes that’s a good point. We have Best Offer on 85% of our listings. It’s just for this initial stage whilst buyers realise it’s an option from more sellers now to be required to make an instant payment.

    Hi Guys, stumbled across your channel, great tip. I’m finding my feet selling on ebay and the other day an agent on the phone recommend I accept
    Returns as the buyer will just force one if they want one so they basically said having no returns is pointless _ do you accept returns? The few sellers I watch on here both offer 14 days and the buyer pays return post but ebay insisted I should offer 30 and free returns? Whats your thoughts on returns? Cheers

    • @Married2Reselling
      @Married2Reselling  8 месяцев назад

      Welcome to the channel. We’re business sellers so as a minimum we have to offer 14 days, seller pays (unless it’s a change of mind return).
      Accepting returns offers peace of mind for the buyer and will encourage sales. In the event that the item is damaged, defective or not as described, you will be forced to accept a return anyway.
      As standard, we offer 30 days, some items we offer 60 and with free returns for the buyer, no matter what the return reason.
      Hope that helps!

Thanks for sharing and keeping sellers updated. Some great sales there. Interesting how long things take to sell. Thanks for the advice - I've turned it off on one of my accounts and see if it helps sales. I had a look for any buyers that it had been blocking. I had 6 but absolutely all of them were no longer a registered user. Before your video, I probably would have taken that as reassurance that these people had been potentially kicked off ebay for persistent non-paying. That is, there system was working. One other thing to check whilst you are digging around is your international settings. I found a buyer in there from Germany who had been trying to buy an item but was rejected as from a country I don't ship to. I had ebay international shipping turned on, so not quite sure why this would be the case. This was my main business account that I've only recently re-activated . Half my sales (antiques) used to go overseas, but now its very rare.
      Going back to the topic of offers, I've had an increase in offers lately that have been really low-ball figures - perhaps that is related to your point. That is, they are just spamming loads of sellers with really low offer without any worry that they get accepted, as they will easily be able to flip. Another youtuber gave me great advice. He acknowledged that its natural to get offended/annoyed with these low-ballers. However, put that to one side and engage with them, go back with a slightly lower offer (it doesn't matter if its pennies). The algorithm sees this as an active item getting attention so will further promote it and you could get a sale shortly afterwards. I gave it a try and he was absolutely correct. I had a long back and forth with this low-baller until he ran out of offers. A few days later, the item sold at full price to another buyer. Keep up the good work - watching your videos keeps me motivated during these weird times.

      They also said they’re implementing stricter policies for non payers including account suspension, yet I’m still able to block someone who has 5 unpaid in a month 🤣
      All very wishy-washy IMO.

  • @MrFrankHovis
    @MrFrankHovis 8 месяцев назад +1

    Just to be different - I welcomed the new setting and left it on. I rarely use Best Offer and try to price realistically (When I see Best Offer, it makes me feel like the seller has no idea on pricing). I was sick of being messed around by non-payers and those problems seem to have lessened, whilst sales are consistent. I never liked stuff being off the store for days whilst waiting for payment. I suppose it depends a lot on what you are selling but I'm in no hurry to switch it off. Anyway, great video - keep up the good work!

    • @Married2Reselling
      @Married2Reselling  8 месяцев назад +1

      Definitely depends what you sell. If you had multi quantity you probably wouldn't worry too much about 1 in 10 non-buyers. Because we do majority Best Offer, whilst this is new for buyers, we'll keep it unticked (we often don't know about pricing for some categories on eBay as what we sell are often unique or rare and are happy for buyers to help us). Thanks for commenting, great to here the other side.

    it's been badly implemented, a one-time setup for payment method the first time a buyer uses ebay as a guest or opening an account, clearly stating it will only be asked for this time and all future payments (with a confirmation box) will be took from this source unless changed should be enough

    Hi Faye & Simon. I knew this was happening on my account about a week ago, when in quick succession, 2 potential buyers messaged me and told me that eBay were insisting on their payment details before making an offer. I got the impression that both of them felt choice was being taken away from them, and I know I definitely lost one sale because of it! I have now turned it off, let's see what happens - hopefully a few more sales.

    For exactly this reason ebay has changed it about a month ago, and you can decline putting payment details while making the offer.
    Another thing is that Ebay is changing that process literally every week, for last 3 months, so whatever we're saying today, may not be valid tomorrow.

    • @Married2Reselling
