Note for future me: Plastic hairbrushes- 1. Get hair out (use toothpick or pen or something to run between bristles n get it out) 2.fill sink/bowl/bucket with warm water and shampoo and mix then let it sit for 30mins 3. After 30mins use a clean toothbrush to brush the hairbrush 4. Rinse brushes then lightly spray rubbing alcohol if u have and then let it airdry
After combing out and getting all stuff in between I took my hairbrush and combs in shower with me and washed along with hair and the rest of me and rinsed we ( I have a little shelter I keep my hair & razor things on) the air dried on towel. Am so happy someone write aboutvthecdustcyhungs have been worrying about for long time. I have eczema and scalp started getting gross because seems am always greasy when have flareups. I also bought clean shampoo and rinse & just started with a routine. I thought I might have infestation! My hairbrush looks just like yours though even my new one after a few uses. A tip! Wait till your brushes and combs are fully dry before spritzing them with the rubbing alcohol. The water that is still on the brush or comb mixes with the alcohol and makes it work less or not at all. The rubbing alcohol evaporates fairly quickly so if you spritz it when they are allready dry it will only take a couple of minutes for the brushes and combs to be fully dry again.
Worked great. Wish I had found this years ago. Only thing I changed was, I used a kitchen scrub brush. It's like a large version of a toothbrush, but with longer stronger bristles. Fast and Easy. I could not believe how quick and easy it was. It took longer to wait for the warm water to make it's way through the pipes, than it did to clean the brush. Next time I'll start the water running while I'm doing the dry toothpick step. Great video.
This worked super well. I was skeptical because my brush had a lot of lint and product caked at the bottom of the bristles, but it removed it really quickly and easily. I only soaked my brush very briefly as well
i saw a video of someone using velcro and rubbing the bristles which got the lint out. i havent tried this myself so i cant say, but maybe it will help!
Completely overkill, but great video nonetheless. I just use a toothpick to get the buildup out, then Dawn dishsoap, just poured on the bristles and worked in for a short while(you should pretty much figure out when to stop on your own), and then a good rinsing and drying. Really easy, and can be done in a few minutes.
Instead of a tooth brush i use a flat brush that hairstylists use to color/bleach hair. The narrower/smaller the brush, the better, since it fits perfectly between the bristles, allowing you to clean the base very well without bending too much the bristles. But i still can not find a good way of removing the dust/textile fibers that acumulates the more dense and soft brush (the one that i use to detangle my hair, that looks like that wood brush shown in the video). Any recomendations? i use a comb with tight bristles, but it removes half of the dust. PD: a part from dandruff shampoo, clarifying shampoo cleans very well too.
Thank you i have been making sure I'm cleaning the brushes properly it seems pretty nasty to have a unclean brush after having it for a long time but yes this helps love ur videos💖
Ok thank you I will try it now... God bless you're a genius right???? And im6 60 years old!!! I did wash my hair brush in the dishwasher... It did 80 to 90% cleaning... But the dirt hair that gets too stuck at the bottom of the bristles itself..ok I wish I could show you a pic???? Duh Linda....
How do you remove hair from brushes that have bristles close together and they have knobs on the end. I have tried this and some of the knobs came off the ends when I ran the comb through it to clean it?
It's probably your hair products! I have your same problem. I researched it and it's a sign of using heavy hair products. the only problem? I can't find which light products to use...
Wait a second, how do you soak your brush in that water?! 😱 the water would get underneath the black silicon cushion and there is no way you are ever getting it out there 😳 It’s going to mold!
Hello there! I am still here! My wife and I have foster kids now so I haven't had any time to make videos. Don't have the free time I used to have. I do plan to come back soon though. It has just taken a while to adjust the new life and get the routine down.
Quarantine got me growing my hair out so I can relate! I even get ashamed of how dirty they get so I close my bathroom door when I clean them xD Now I get a compulsive desire to clean them every time I brush my hair :

Use a big rock and 2 plastic bags from the store. It'll work for several minutes
Just use the toilet. It holds water right?
@@violinxxxcrazy you really are crazy no offense

What if you have lint tightly wound around your bristles?

Cut it with scissors, or the drag of a razor, then proceed as the video directs.

I just pull the hair from the sides if it really builds up and then pull it out lol. Also pour soap in while the water is running so it gets sudsy
Heck yea! Give those hairbrushes a bubble bath
Clean With Confidence Yes! Lol 😂
How do you keep the water and cleaning liquid out of the inside of the cushion on the brushes?
Thank you 🙏
You are welcome!
Thanks for the video, how often would you say you have to do this? Assuming you brush once a day?
Thats just dependent on how much hair gel or spray you use. I would clean them one they start to get gunky.
Tweezers work well too, for removing hair
Yes!!!
Never thought of that!
We have curly hair thick and mom use to put hair removal cream and washing off after 10min

You are probably best just throwing that away and getting a new one when it gets old lol.
Why do you use the rubbing alcohol for?
It's a simple disinfectant. It just kills any remaining germs and bacteria.
