  • My 2016 Volkswagen Golf R recently got an AFS Error (Adaptive Front Lighting System). After some quick diagnostics (made another video • Volkswagen Golf R AFS ... ) It turned out to be the left headlight's cornering light (bending light). Got the bulb (OEM Part # N10320102) and replaced it and made this video to try and help anyone seeing similar AFS errors.
It's definitely a DIY high recommend, especially for a "beginner" DIY-er. It took less than 5 minutes from A-Z.
    Thanks for watching,
    Cheers

I've seen people replace those bulbs with ones that will match the colour of the Headlight, so the light blends together. Seen on ZED4Me

I considered that, but I actually do visually enjoy the differentiation of the main headlight vs the cornering lights. Something nostalgic about orange lights on cars (as weird as it sounds). Reminds my of cars my grandfather drove that I loved :)

I'm having a similar issue with my 16 gti autobahn. but the headlights will swivel at startup and static side markers are working. Error message will come up after a rolling a little biy.

Sorry for the late response, we caught youtube sleeping, didn’t get the notification. That sounds similar to what I was experiencing as well. The startup diagnostics up down side side worked. And it would flash the error a few seconds after moving OR if in place but turning the indicator on. Definitely a good starter DIY (do it yourself) project. Hope all works out and thanks for watching / commenting! Cheers.
