This is the first video I’ve seen where the accepted person hasn’t cured cancer. Thank you for making this video, it makes me feel like I can totally achieve my goals without being an international Olympiad.
Could you do a videos of your classes and awards, if possible, thank you for this. I can’t stress enough, the amount of gratitude I have for you & your videos. You deserve this! You rock!
Thank you!! I listed my APs in the video (APUSH, World, Lang, Calc AB, Physics I, Seminar, and Research by junior year). As for awards, I listed 2 Scholastic Art Awards, a couple speech awards from tournaments, AP awards, and some awards given out by my school)
For starters congrats on all of those great achievements! Also thanks so much for this video, all of your stats and extracurriculars were amazing, but they kinda helped put me at ease. Like most other videos people have won like international achievements in things, which just aren’t achievable for a lot of people. This helped show that there is a chance for a lot more people to be able to get into there dream schools so thank you, because I am s but less nervous know for my upcoming years in high school.
wow this is amazing you have a great future as a college vlogger please go ahead and never discourage yourself with fewer views but you will get more views as going ahead love from India
Congrats, Congrats, Congrats!!!! I wish you all the blessings during your time at Yale. You don't deserve Yale, Yale deserves you, you worked extremely hard and your work payed off!!!!!!! I really love your Yale t shirt, I was wondering where did you get it? (If you don't mind sharing/ I don't want to get personal) I can't find it anywhere.
Oh thank you so much. I found a similar shirt (I just love Yale shirts 😂). Sorry for the late reply. Please have fun at Yale. I wish you all the best. Please take care 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Don’t do what I did to get into Harvard and Stanford. Send in your application on the very last day and then get into an argument during your alumni interview. My dad told me good thing you have a stellar record. My father was a great and extremely generous man.
Wow I finally found someone on the internet who did AP capstone. Do you have any advice for getting 5s on research and seminar? (I'm taking seminar rn)
Not sure if this advice is helpful but I'd say keep your scope of research as specific as possible and always make a thorough outline of your arguments and analysis before starting. Procrastination is probably the biggest challenge since Capstone is very unstructured compared to most AP classes, so I'd also say to make sure you know what your timeline should look like for the entire year as soon as you start class (for research especially). Good luck!
Thank you! I'm probably going to be majoring in economics but I put down a bunch of different majors when applying to college (I think economics, statistics, public policy, government, and English were the most common options). I used Khan Academy to study, which is free to everyone online :)
All the admissions officers that I have heard from have said that they evaluate students within the context of their school, so if your school doesn't offer APs then they won't hold that against you but they do still want to see that you are actively seeking out ways to academically challenge yourself.
Drawing and painting have been a hobby of mine for many years, and I started out by teaching myself so I put down in my application that I was a "self-taught artist." I submitted my art to a few art competitions and won some minor regional prizes. I've also done some paintings as commissions/gifts.
Hi Elsie, you have been so helpful while I was doing my applications, but i just want to know can I upload my resume on Harvard’s application portal, where did you uploaded, please tell me as soon as you see my comment. It would be a big relief!
Hello! my transition from 8th to 9th grade was taugh, I wasn't suppose be to in ESL class in 8th grade but the school put me in that class because there no seats in regular classes, so it didn't prepared me for high school sicne ESL classes were much easier than regular class, it did affetc my 9th grade grades, since there's a big difference in ESL classes and honor classes, I took honor classes in 9th grade. Should I explain that to colleges and they'll understand? Does it count as an extenuating circumstance? Thank you!!

Hey!
My school doesn't provide any AP or honors classes.
Can that affect my chances in a bad way?🤔
All the admissions officers that I have heard from have said that they evaluate students within the context of their school, so if your school doesn't offer APs then they won't hold that against you but they do still want to see that you are actively seeking out ways to academically challenge yourself.

In case i get grand for the standford university, the grand is one year or four
Please give me your own opinion
Hi! In your video, you mentioned that one of your ECs was art. Can you tell me a little more about that?
Drawing and painting have been a hobby of mine for many years, and I started out by teaching myself so I put down in my application that I was a "self-taught artist." I submitted my art to a few art competitions and won some minor regional prizes. I've also done some paintings as commissions/gifts.
@@ElsieInCollege Thanks for the clarification!

I don't think it would hurt to explain it, you can put it down in the Additional Information section if you are using the Common App. Good luck!
@@ElsieInCollege Thank you! :))
