    As a reputable collision repair tech, that bodge repair makes me wince.
    Repairs like this give the trade a bad name. I spent years honing my craft, now I tend to work on specialist on Aluminum Bonded Chassis and Carbon tubs, but even with the most simple jobs I won't take shortcuts.
    Thank you for showing the buying public the clues to look for!

    My dad had a friend in college who bought a Cadillac that was advertised as a "Sunday driver" -- garage kept, elderly owned, etc. It looked good an untrained eye.
    He took it through a car wash and body filler started flying off.

    Good video, I've worked for an Mot station and body shop, I think part of the problem is these insurance companies selling these cat C and Cat D cars (i know they've changed now) to people and they get botched up and put back on road, Some general public are unaware of say a vehicle that's been say scratched down the side they seem to think you can do it in an hour with a spray can for £150 when in fact its at least a few days of a job and its £800, These are good video's to show the type of repairs you get when you pay peanuts for body repairs, Keep up the good work

    Repairing with filler is ok, preferably a small amount but it is not always necessary to renew a panel just because it damaged. While this is a poor repair and there are many more major faults it is not just the use of filler to repair that is a fault. Filler is used by professionals to finish a repair for cosmetic purposes getting the final shape right and covering welded panel joints etc. I worked in the motor body repair trade for 32 years as a sprayer and panel beater and then worked as a motor engineer to 12 years with a major insurance company. So I do know a little bit about his subject.

    • @ItaliaAutos
      @ItaliaAutos  4 года назад

      Yep perfectly fine. But this much filler is to much

    • @raytaylor4089
      @raytaylor4089 4 года назад +2

      @@ItaliaAutos How much is too much? 1/8 of and inch 1/4 of and inch half and inch? ot metric 6 mm 10 mm 15 mm 2.5 cm? I say it depends on the vehicle and the need, personally I have saved panels that could not be obtained from the manufacturer and yes I have used filler sometimes up to 1/4 " sometimes putting a new panel on is not an option. Sometimes the Insurance company will incist on a repair not replacement. I have seen badly fitted panels that were new poor fit and incorrectly fitted. Which is worse a lot of filler or incorrectly fitted new panel?

Too many lazy contract hire companies and motor traders don't bother checking as the hand back / px is just a can being kicked down the road. Some other mothers problem.

    Cat N is non structural.....Cat S is structural ..... these cars are cheaper than non cat for the very reason they have been repaired, everyone knows you will have filler in a dented panel? because a car has body filler and sprayed by someone who can't paint properly, it does not mean the car is a death trap ? you wilk be very lucky to find any vehicle in a body repair shop that does not have a skim of filler in it, probably more, these are category vehicles that have been repaired ..... you keep saying it's had damage ..... that's obvious, but what was it, Cat N ... or Cat S ..... if Cat S usually heavier and structural, but Cat N is light only ... no structural whatsoever, and if it's not structural .... it's NOT dangerous.
