I'm a 66 yr old retired commercial carpenter, and watching you work those logs into place almost made me wish I was back up on a scaffold again. Almost... Don't cut yourself short, you're doing a helluva job to be all by yourself. One thing I recommend you do now is spray your floor with a sealer to PROTECT it from rain, especially since you said you won't be dried in for at least a month. Thompson's Water Seal is one of the best, but use whatever you can find. You don't want your subfloor rotting out later because of this.
I’m a commercial union carpenter and I do concrete form work for over 30 yrs. You are a very determined hard working woman.I give you los of credit for what you’ve done . Keep up the hard work but be safe
You continue to amaze me. I hope you can get a friend or neighbor to help you with the heavy lifting. You can't afford to injure yourself. The brace you use for lifting would be more effective if it were higher. Keep up the good work. Your dog -- name? -- continues to provide you with great morale-boosting support. Try to stay dry. 😊
Hard working, creative, capable resilient and adorable, you’re pretty amazing! Single pitch roof is how I build these days asI do not have the ability to do ladders with only the use of 1 arm and a mostly paralyzed left leg. Block & tackle is how I move a lot of things. I use sailboat blocks with bearings as the bearing blocks are s much less effort than bushing blocks.. I also use a portable ATV winch I built with a LiFePO4 battery & a wireless remote. if you make your lifting arm taller you can then mount a cleat temporarily and you can then easily stop anywhere during the lift and cleat off. Being hemiplegic (hemi=half plegic= paralyzed) building jigs, rigs, brackets etc. allows me to Still build and is just part of everyday life. In our barn I built a sliding chain hoist that runs the entire length. When forced to figure shit out we do. So sorry to hear about your husband. I actually died/flat-lined and they were able to resuscitate me. My brain just started bleeding one day at 52. I almost left my wife a widow and my daughter fatherless it’s a lot to process even though I survived... It was insanely traumatic for all of us of us. Keeping yourself busy helps the grieving process. A a small tractor would be an invaluable tool for you. One with a backhoe and loader would work. After my brain hemmorhage I bought a Kubota tractor & a small 3.5 ton mini excavator. They have both paid for themselves multiple times over compared to hiring or renting… they both get more use than I ever thought possible…
Bonjour.
Well I'm back and I see you are too.I understand the daily pep talks, hope that helps, motivation is key. Keep up the good work, give yourself a little time to breathe and take in your surroundings. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
You got ! Don't forget about bi-pods and tri-pods. Maybe a bi-pod under one end of a support and the other end connected to your wall mounting bracket. That would allow you to move your log connection down the log, which would lift the log end higher. May want to angle brace corners under top plate to keep side walls plum and from bowing. Whatever, you are doing great. Best to you and your 4 legged helper.
Hi I just wanted to say I saw one of your first cabin building videos and it caught my attention and watched each episode from then on and I love the channel bc you go thru things same way I would and if something doesn’t work you just figure it out and that just shows the real life aspect. That being said I went back to watch some of your old videos and learned more of your story , I just wanted to say sorry for your loss but also wanted to say that after watching those episodes I feel you are doing exactly what you should be and I truly believe that HE is happy for you and cheering you on from what I saw what you are doing by following you dream and living life you are doing exactly what he would be wishing for you and you are doing good for his memory sorry for bringing up any bad feelings but I just felt like it might be helpful to hear some affirming words keep up the content I truly enjoy watching and following your journey
A little bit of thought, a little bit of effort and a LOT of determination and look at that... 2 loft logs installed... Way to go Wildwoman... Keep it up and we will keep on watching...
Just when I think wow that woman can do anything, you amaze me even more. I know a good many men that couldn’t do what you have done this far. Keep up the amazing work and oh by the way nice ingenuity on the hoist you built to get those logs up in position. Go get some well deserved rest, you certainly urned it. Awaiting for video # 5 to come out.
You are AWESOME!!! You never cease to amaze me with your vision, great attitude and hard work. I admire your tenacity with all that you've been through and keep moving forward with your dream. I, too, am a widow and am learning to keep taking baby steps in a forward direction. And I appreciate you sharing your experience, your vulnerability and your inner strength! You go girl!!!
Привет. Да - есть Женщины не только в русских, но и в американских селениях. Повторюсь - респект и уважение! Терпения, здоровья и успеха в этом нелёгком проекте!
Love your determination, one tip for driving screws, get an impact driver along with your cordless screw gun. You would be amazed on how much easier and faster they are for driving fasteners.
Young lady you are doing what a strong man would have a tough time doing lifting those logs but I am very in amazement with you keep up the good work you are one amazing woman
I am enjoying watching your channel. LOL if I was 30 years younger , I'd be up there doing the same. Timber is adorable. Be safe and remember you got this!
⚠️10:54 From one who sustained a nasty back injury in my early 20's, which has permanently curtailed activity. Please, please lift with your legs. Drop your hips, squat, lift your head and look forward when you lift so that you're not using your back! (And use more block & tackle pulley systems whenever possible to reduce the amount of weight you're actually having to deal with.) That way you will be able to continue doing this kind of heavy work. But good for you for psyching yourself up to get on with the job. 🎉🏆 ( My mom's neighbor used to say, "Nothing gets it done like doing it!")
that was intense. glad you got them up. I was yelling at my tablet "just a little bit more! you can do it! " good job moral support pup timber on all her help as well. I'm excited to continue watching this series. keep those videos coming. keep pumping out that content.. kudos on all you have accomplished so far.
I just found you and am so invested in yr success. I've never seen anyone work so fucking hard for a dream. I've sent funds, will send more. Damn girl. You are doing it and I am here for this. Thank you for sharing your adventure/ struggle!
Wow! A very pretty woman who actually is working. I like your videos. I wish I could help. But I'm nowhere near Alaska. You're doing a very good job. Keep up the good work. Wow! And you're very smart too! I'm impressed! Yay! You did it. One thing you'll notice from working like this is that you're growing muscles. You don't need to go to the gym. In your arms and legs. Pretty soon, you'll be putting those types of logs up with no problem. It's a struggle now, but just wait.
I really admire your tenacity, your belief in yourself. That you can do anything that you set your mind to. I think it's wonderful that you are building this cabin. I also love you little puppy, absolutely gorgeous!
You are a firecracker, I don't know you but I'm just super proud of you, girl! Would you take a recommendation from another girl who built 2 barns? Use an impact. You'll wonder why you didn't before. My son-in-law watched me struggling with driving screws into thick boards, shook his head and handed me his impact LOL Build the second barn with these amazing GRK construction screws and an impact. What a game changer. Stay safe!!!!!
In the future, if you move the chain, wrapped around the beam, further down the beam that will lengthen your rope, give you more vertical travel and it will pull the beam towards the wall at the same time. You got it up there which is all that matters. But food for thought on the next lift.
Sorry about my previous comment, I just feel Your determination and good luck. They do have tools for rent maybe like a material lift etc kind of like a sheetrock lift and can lift heavy crap.
My hat off to you! If you get another pulley and secure it to the floor take the rope and attach it to your four wheeler and drive off the machine will pull the log up instead of you pulling it up! Work smarter not harder!
Hurrah! I was cheering you on, I even felt it in my muscles.. I am sore of just spreading a tonne of sand yesterday! You are a superwoman! 💪💪💪 Muscles and smart!
Congratulations on getting everything as far as you have. Thanks for showing there are days you just do not want to do it. Cannot wait until it’s dried in. You are awesome, believe it! Dee and Ace
Amazing at the work you have accomplished 👏👏👏👏. So proud of you . I wanted to help you so badly every time you lifted I cringed because I knew it was heavy. Great job
Keep up the great work. Suggestion for you, find yourself a couple of multiple pulleys with two or three channels. It might take you a little longer to hoist things up but using a pully system where the rope goings through 3 or 4 loops will make lifting much easier. Look at the pullies on a sailing ship to understand what I mean.
You go girl!!!🎉 I don't know how you do it, but you're doing it and single handedly!!! Amazing! Yes, you should be proud of yourself, very proud!!! I can't wait to see what all you're about to do and the completion of your cabin more! So impressive!!!👍💪💖✨
You are simply AWESOME !!!!!! ALWAYS keep a timber length beside you to rest the heavy logs on as you wrestle them higher and higher. As a 70yr old with a buggered back now for 25 yrs ,original damage from my early years of farm work, using physical force to move heavy objects . By 45 the deterioration of the spine was so bad they cant operate so a slight accident at work caused a herniation of the lower discs and sciatica and ivecsurvived on prayer and strong prescription pain drugs. I hobble around with a stick and have to lie down most the time. I dont want this hell for you so please , find the smartest way to acheive this dream love . Ill be watching and praying for God to put good helpful people into your life so you acheive you and your dear hubbys dream without you suffering injury from it. You're doing the most AWESOMEST JOB and i love your tenacity. Big hugs from a proud Aussie Nan 🇦🇺🤗💞🙏👌👍✌️👏✝️🇺🇸
Love watching this, getting to live vicariously through you.. always been a dream of mine to build something in AK.. although my LW definitely didn't agree. I shared your channel on a few of the widow/widower support groups I am in, so maybe you will get some new subs and views. Keep up the amazing work, and embrace that pride in yourself, what you are doing is amazing.
Great plan and task completion today. I’ve read online that two to three pulleys working together can definitely make the weight lifting job a bunch more reasonable for a strong woman like yourself. I just wanted to mention that the science of pulleys can really spare your body more damage you’ll notice as you get older.
You just gotta get up and do the work..im going to use that too. The cabin is looking great!, Every minute you spend doing a job is a minute closer to finishing the job
Great job, next set of loft logs you have to set in place have some 2 x 4 pieces ready that you can screw into your cabin frame it will give extra support holding the log up and add extra depth so they don't kick out until you can anchor them in place. You are doing a great job.
You can do anything girl 🙋🏼♀️!!!!it’s your dream cabin!!!!!! You go girl 🎉🎉🎉🎉just be careful ☺️ I have to keep stopping the video and making comments, girl. I am so proud of you. You are living proof and a woman can do anything she wants to do. Yay I had all faith in you!!!!!!!!!

Newly subscribed, after binge watching your videos and learning your history you now my favorite Hero..
You are a rockstar. I love watching you and I love your dog.
Dang Girl, your tenacity is so admirable, you did it!!! Little Timber is so adorable too, you bet, you got me for the long hall!! Thanks so much.

I am always so surprised by your ingenuity. As a woman you inspire me! I look forward to your videos.
Young lady you are doing what a strong man would have a tough time doing lifting those logs but I am very in amazement with you keep up the good work you are one amazing woman
Those logs are going to look amazing. But damn they seem to move the whole wall when you where getting them up there
Yes, I hope she makes sure to put in some extra supports for the extra weight!
You’re doing GREAT! Way to go, keep it up!
You are strong, smart, imaginative, tenacious and willful. You're a badass! You rock! Hi Timber.

Buy yourself a couple of Come Along Pullers, relatively cheap and safer than what your doing. I use them all the time to move heavy timber by myself.
Hurrah! I was cheering you on, I even felt it in my muscles.. I am sore of just spreading a tonne of sand yesterday! You are a superwoman! 💪💪💪 Muscles and smart!

"How hard can it be" - lol. Oh yeah. One of my mantras is "everything harder than everything else" ;) Because, yeah, how hard can it be?

I just found you. I think you're doing a great job.keep up the good work .
So much hard work
Wow very nice job with those heavy logs! Thanks for the longer video. Keep going!
Hi idea , you could tie the pully rope around the log you are lifting to take a rest. Also if money allows a 12volt winch would be easier than by hand. Good luck.
Enjoy watching your videos.
Paint the floor to seal it from the rain to prevent moisture getting into it 😊😊
Girl you are on tuff lady. Love youre content I will be watching as long as you keep going respect too you.
Wow very impressive. You got this young lady.
