Being transgender in Iran is actually something legally recognized by the government and is not punished. Stigma is still widely rampant for being transgender, and having same sex relationships is not legal, but the government does subsidize transition-related procedures. Iran tends to be pretty unique in this regard.
As an Iranian I need to clarify this: Iranian government at least validate transpeople and let them transition (yes under very hard conditions and we're having a really hard time) and is not trying to delete them unlike her so jokes on you Ariel

I asked if she'd read the fliers they were handing out, she said she hadn't (but was praising them!). I shared images and she was like "yeah, I agree with this and that". I'm there thinking "and you wonder why people call you transphobic?"
I also assumed that putting mental illnesses in people's bio was so they didn't have to clarify "I'm x btw" every time they talk about it or display symptoms.
You know what? As a trans person, I hate it when people use de-transitioners as an excuse against trans folks. But de-transitioners still deserve support, and they’re not just tokens they can use. De transitioners are dealing with their own shit, and if they don’t hate trans folks, then I don’t think they deserve hate either, or used as an excuse for why trans people shouldn’t exist. Just... bloody feckin’ hell.
I put my mental illnesses in my bio because I need people to be aware I may not think properly. I’m autistic and it’s important for people to know that.
Can we take a minute tho and talk about how damn good Elliot is in umbrella academy? That role is his and he’s perfect for it. The vulnerability and strength he shows in that role is mind blowing and a complete masterclass for actors everywhere. Gay people can only play gay characters? Or LGBTQ+ people can only play LGBTQ+ characters? :0
@@lxlx7941 I think trans actors can play any character (trans or cis), but trans characters MUST be played by trans actors. As for LGB people, I don't think it's quite as important, there's more room for anyone to play any kind of character, but it is still preferable to cast LGB actors for LGB roles. To be clear, I think it's 100% fine for LGB actors to play cis, straight roles

Someone needs to show her this comment. Perfect.
the elliot page playing a cis woman thing is so dumb... i highly doubt he's going to play women for the rest of his career?
Fr the character already exist in comics and the character is established as a woman. I would be fine if they pulled a Sabrina and made the character trans because the actor is. I am happy if Vanya is trans or not. As long as Elliot is comfortable.
I saw a tiktok that said that Scarlet Jo could play a Trans woman in a movie and that would be positive, because we all know her as a woman, so if she plays a trans man character ppl would see that as a women dressed up as a man but if she plays a trans women ppl that aren't familiar with transgender ppl would come to the conclusion than a trans woman is no different from a cis woman cause c'mon is Scarltet johanson she's obvs a women.
Also if the movie was about transitioning ppl would see how her being treated like a man doesn't make sense even if she looked like one, so it wouldn't look like a joke or dressup when she "transitions", it would look like it's what it's supposed to happen yk?
Idk if I'm making sense (the person o the video was way better at talking) but I guess u get the point.
I hate when people try to team up with their own oppressors just to feel validated and powerful. Like this "I know you look down on me for being gay and a woman buuut at least I'm not X, because X is super ridiculous, can I have my validation pleaseee, am I in the club now?" is super gross and pretty alarming.

Sometimes, I've seen cis people put their pronouns in their bio as well, depending on the situation or context, if they are collectively aware that a certain platform or medium might not be the most trans friendly or accepting. They will put their pronouns in their bios as well so that the trans people aren't effectively outing themselves to not be misgendered, and it becomes harder for transphobes to single them out for discrimination and harassment. (Just cis allies being good cis allies.)
I was literally so confused when I first found out about trans people being harassed by transphobes because they put their pronouns in their bios... Mostly because I thought everyone regardless of being cis or trans put pronouns in their bio. Like I’ve had my pronouns in my bio since I got my first deviantart account. 😳 I thought for years that its completely normal to put pronouns in your bio, which IT STILL IS!! Being transgender in Iran is actually something legally recognized by the government and is not punished. Stigma is still widely rampant for being transgender, and having same sex relationships is not legal, but the government does subsidize transition-related procedures. Iran tends to be pretty unique in this regard.
Last time I commented this on a video about her I got a bunch hate for some reason but as a lesbian we don’t claim her.

‘Being a leftist makes you sexy’ is how I am now going to explain my sexuality to people when they ask me what I am into 😂
Arielle Scarcella is the queen of making strawmen to attack (often trans people and leftists)
I just finished reading Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four where the term “thought criminal” is a huge theme in the book, and the thought of Arielle using that term for herself irritates me so much lmaooo like the entire time I was reading the book I was able to pull out parallels to the Trump administration

I'm tempted to put all those "red flags" in my bio just to scare off anyone who takes her seriously.
I still remember the interaction I had with her when those transphobes crashed London pride and she was singing their praises. I asked if she'd read the fliers they were handing out, she said she hadn't (but was praising them!). I shared images and she was like "yeah, I agree with this and that".
I'm there thinking "and you wonder why people call you transphobic?"
Noah: "lesbian bottoms, i love you!"
Me, a lesbian bottom: *happy noises*
I also assumed that putting mental illnesses in people's bio was so they didn't have to clarify "I'm x btw" every time they talk about it or display symptoms.
You know what? As a trans person, I hate it when people use de-transitioners as an excuse against trans folks. But de-transitioners still deserve support, and they’re not just tokens they can use. De transitioners are dealing with their own shit, and if they don’t hate trans folks, then I don’t think they deserve hate either, or used as an excuse for why trans people shouldn’t exist. Just... bloody feckin’ hell.
I do agree but damn do terfs use the comments on detransitioners videos to be transphobic, it's disgusting.

Can we take a minute tho and talk about how damn good Elliot is in umbrella academy? That role is his and he’s perfect for it.
