Drop a comment down below on what the Semi Truck build should be based on, as well as what trailers you'd like to see! Thank you all so much for watching!
Idea for free lift, add 2 small magnets to the bottom of the secondary lift structure and the other to the non-lifting base (near the motor winch). Ideally this will hold the secondary lift structure and only move the forks at first, then when the forks hit the top the winch will then also pull the secondary lift structure off the magnet and it should ride.
I'd like to mention how much I appreciate your work. As someone with a background in game design who has been working with CAD for the past year or so, and looking into creating my own RC projects similar to yours using off-the-shelf RC parts, your videos are incredibly helpful. They not only showcase how you design parts but also how you troubleshoot and make certain aspects work. For example, I'm currently working on an 8x4 tipper truck and plan to use threaded N20 motors for the bed, inspired by your excavator project.
You could base the truck off the Pacific P16, which is not like a long hall truck but a logging truck which you could incorporate 3d printed suspension.
Oh yeah. When there's a truck that needs 20 skids loaded, several press alarms going off; and no material handler; catch me whipping our toyota around the shop like that
A battery makes for a pretty good counterbalance all the way on the back, BUT it would also influence center of mass, might make them more tip-prone when cornering fast.
I'm not sure if you ever got to participate, but there was a web accessible office bot that let you remote control it (via browser) and drop balls into slots for points. Something like that with the forklifts (for like a fee cause reset and supervision needs) would be great. I'd happily pay $1-$5 to face off against an internet stranger.
Oh man, as soon as I saw the title I was already excited. Thanks for this! I'm definitely making it. And a truck? A flat bed! Gotta have a truck to load these pallets on to! I've always been partial to things that look like a Kenworth for the cab. The newer curved "ant-eater" ones are probably my favorite. Looking at pics, the Kenworth T680 looks great!
So so so cool! Really enjoyed watching this. Please make the long haul so that it has removable side panels and can be loaded with these Forklifts from the side =)
I recommend a Cab over truck. This is the European style with the cab over the front axle. You could also came a race semi truck variant like you did for the drift forklift. Also if you came a trailer it would be nice if it could carry things that you have made before like the forklift on a flat bed or the pallets you made
A 379 Long Nose Peterbuilt or a Tesla Semi are the 2 that come to mind. Tesla because you're making a tiny electric truck, and the 379 is just such an iconic truck in the American industry. Flat bed trailer would be the easiest for both printing and loading, but I'd like to see how you would tackle a dry van. Maybe even make a small electric pallet jack for loading/unloading.
mayhaps get some heavy LB test fishing line for sea fishing for the pulley systems. smooth or textured(braided) gives some options for friction testing. Also when driving a lift, you pick your pallet slightly off the floor, then tilt mast back as far as possible so the wedging factor you found can be utilized with a small catch tab on the body of the mast, and lift frame to stop the mast from raising the intermediate portion unless tipped for a few mm to effectively unlock the mast from the body. Super cool project man. Great work
For an entry-level solution to the free-lift problem, you could try putting some kind of lever arm catch at the top that gets triggered by the fork carriage reaching the top?
A flat bed or a bed to load your mini RC construction force onto would be cool! A lso I'd love to see a forklift challenges like the one you did for the RC skid steer!
Slammed peterbilt (old style with large stacks) all wheel drive. Or a euro truck cab over design. Definitely needs shipping containers so we can haul stuff, and make work site offices
I have found when printing tyres that the sidewall causes problems with how the tyre compresses. It is basically a hard support right at the edge. If you can change it to look like one of those airless tyres with spokes then you can get it much more consistent along the width of tyre instead of having a thick top and bottom surface. You might have good results by not having a top or bottom surface and just use infill instead. You could also try breaking up the top and bottom surfaces by making them stepped or wavy so that it isnt a solid layer and instead ccan compress better.
When you build that Semi truck make sure you do the lowboy with the front ramps its a two part trailer that detached from the front so u can use the ramp with the mini heavy equipment
I had to look this up, it's crazy that we can now just make this stuff ourselves at home and even tweak the designs as needed, also the vat19 one didn't even have a mast-tipping mechanism apparently.
I think a Scania would be very cool, and as some have said, a Tatra style 8x8 truck would be cool, but the crane already is 12x12 so it would be cool to make something different
I have a fun idea for the on-off switch. Use a reed switch and put magnets in the propane barrels. 😁 Regarding the semi truck build I vote for a lowboy trailer.
As soon as the video started I thought, "this one came out quick. I bet it was a breeze compared to that crane." Then that's pretty much what you said 😂 I haven't had the ambition to print out one of your projects yet, but I think this one will be my first. Super simple (by comparison) and looks like a ton of fun
Great video! A Kenworth W900 or T800 would be a great truck for the next build. Along with a flat deck or intermodal trailer so you can use it with the forklifts form this video.
Best new truck out there. Topsy from Edison Motors! It’s already an electric truck so you’re really just making a mini version! Plus they have already made 3D models made so their truck can be added to all the simulator games. Hopefully an easy conversion to an STL file?
You should use a conventional cab, kitted out with (Or able to be kitted out with) Australian long-haul/road-train accessories! I’d love to see changeable hoods, fenders, bumper/bull bars and plows! (Also suspension!)😁
Awesome build series! For the semi, a modular system would be sweet. If the electronics fits in the frame, then it could range from an American style to euro COE
Some nitpicks about browser controls: Can't you add more keyboard controls, as well as trimming? Also, IIRC browser applications can use the pc controller, so you could possibly add that as a controller as well, although it might complicate the js side of things.
Followed all your build, witch are more and more awesome, without realizing i didn't even subscribed yet. I hit that bell, can't wait to see your next build.
Dude, I finally bought a 3d printer. I took computer classes and a drafting class in highschool, and I took a CAD class in college. I'm looking forward to designing fun little toys like this. I miss designing things on the computer.
Make a MAC truck, the aesthetic would fit the collection perfectly, or a DAF XD construction truck. For a trailer, id like to see logs, or a tank with fluid! Maybe with a small pump even!
Great forklift, looks like a lot of fun ^^ Since you want to follow up with a truck, the first idea that sprung to mind was one of those trucks that carries a special forklift (shorter and wider to fit the truck form) on its "bootie". But that would probably mean that you'd have to redesign most of the forklift chassis ^^;
build a Peterbilt with a flat bed and a tractor also love the vid and I'm interested in buying a mini skid steer but i don't want to build it do they come built already?
i love it, but im kinda disappointed, that you didnt use the propane tank as a batterycontainer with hidden contacts.. that would be soo cool.. :D open the strip, take off the propane container, open a hatch of the container and inside there could be the battery.. and the container itself could have hidden contacts on the side that has contact with the body of the forklift.
Yes you have to absolutely go with the classic USA truck either KW900(my favorite ) or the Peterbilt 379 which both own at one time by the same company Paccar
you should think about reaching out to mark rober and get some of these mini 3d printed rc toys to kids in one of his crunch lab boxes. Would be really cool to see how people would do with them since most people don’t have 3d printers.
Hear me out, gridfinity pallets! All you need is a gridfinity base-plate slapped on-top of your pallet, and suddenly your forklift can carry/store/retrieve *any* gridfinity enabled item to a shelf in a fairly stable manner.
I'd like to see a flatbed trailer that will fit the RC Skid Steer and the RC Excavator. Also would be great having that open trailer bed to use the forklift to load pallets onto. Maybe even a single armed forklift to load rolls of steel. Gonna need tiedown points.
I know it would have added complexity, but you should try making a version with a floating rear steering axle with a central pivot point just like a real forklift. Perhaps you can hard mount the servo within this floating axle? This will also help with drive-axle grip.
My kind of project with printing, assembly, and sourcing electronics, but I'm wondering if an off-the-shelf RC forklift like the Huina would be a better value for use of time and money, especially if you can find it on the cheaper side. The Huina (and Top Racer one on Amazon) both have mostly metal construction and I'm assuming much higher load limits.
honestly i think i think a second steering option for the crane when using phone and computer similar to snowrunner control scheme could work, though it should be a toggle
I'd love to have 2 of these!!!! I tried to start the order process....$3 for the pcb, FIFTY FIVE DOLLARS to ship them.. plus, you have to buy tiny parts in too high of quantities. I don't need 50 screw connectors.. only 2. Anyhow, great design, awesome videos, clear instructions.... but it's a no. Maybe if you sold all of the completed boards for all of the models for people to buy. That'd be right up my alley. Is that in the future?
Also wouldve been cool if you tried to lift a forklift with the other forklift, well it kinda happened at 18:34. Maybe even a forkliftception of all 4 forklifts carrying each other, i guess its unkikely to hold all that weight but a forklift pyramid might be possible
We really need a peterbuilt truck and a Scania cabover truck. Flat trailer for loading but dual purpose for sea cans. You use the crane to load the sea can on the truck, forklift to load pallets into the can. Then crane back onto the truck. Also a self loading garbage truck with roll away dumpster is cool too
Couple suggestions. Instead of using lithium grease, get some Armor All. I used to work at a Self Storage company many moons ago, we always kept our roll up doors lubricated with it. Reason being that it won’t gunk up and it doesn’t trap dirt like grease will. For the string, get something like “Fireline” fishing line. It’s very durable and it’s kind of slippery.
I feel like a classic flatbed trailer would allow easy loading of equipment without the pain of navigating in a box truck. You should also design for lights that can be connected via one of those small white socket clips you find on circuit boards since they are already cheap and easily available. Don't forget a speaker for honking!
I am just curious what scale size these would be. I'm guessing 1:43 scale. Just curious from a diorama perspective. Totally not contemplating using these for a semi interactive Gundam diorama
Drop a comment down below on what the Semi Truck build should be based on, as well as what trailers you'd like to see! Thank you all so much for watching!
Seeing as you are going to make a Semi Truck and it is not going to run on diesel, why not try the Tesla Semi,
@ that’s not a bad idea, or maybe the Edison motors truck
Maybe you could make multiple trailers, like a flatbed for all the different parts for the other rcs. And a classic trailer that can fit the forklift.
Make some kind of off-road truck for example ural 4320 with a log or flatbed trailer
And do some mudding!!!
1970's Mack R600 Coolpower with a tanker trailer... So I can re-enact the events of Road Warrior :D
One of my favorites! Peterbilt 379 with a flat deck trailer for loading the pallets from the forklift!
I hade the same idea lol
I love Peterbilt 379. I also like 359
Yessir please do it
That’s a great idea! Or a 579, or a Mack semi!
Yeah we need a Peter built or a Mack!
As a forklift mechanic, can't wait to make this and have it on my desk!
There is only one truck to choose - classic Peterbuilt !
Like 379,used for Optimus Prime once?
@@CenReaper. We need to go back... Freightliner COE 1980
@xManzi why not
I think you should base the truck on either a scania or a volvo. EU style of course
I back this 100%. That would be sweet!
Or Foton Auman EST-A. It's my favourite truck, mostly because of the way it looks. What's your favourite?

Cab over semi with a flatbed and a low boy so you can load pallets and the excavator
The low boy with an excavator would be so awesome!
@@professorbootsdo a Peter built or a mack
cab over? why? this is america.
@@manuelpiston cabovers were the first American truck before the long nose.

That truck is so neat, I’d love to do a make like that.
That's a great idea

Yes absolutely make this comment the top comment
I came here to say the same thing. It only makes sense. Since it’s gonna be electric. ⚡️
Kenworth W900 or Topsy would be really cool! As a forklift technician, this was really fun to watch and I hope to make one myself one day.
You could base the truck off the Pacific P16, which is not like a long hall truck but a logging truck which you could incorporate 3d printed suspension.
1955 GMC 860 Cannonball COE Semi Tractor, absolutely beautiful truck! I cannot wait to get my forklift printed!
That drifting fork lift goes crazy
Haha right!? I kind of want to 3D print a wing for it and some cones to make a track
@professorboots that is such a cool idea
Oh yeah. When there's a truck that needs 20 skids loaded, several press alarms going off; and no material handler; catch me whipping our toyota around the shop like that
this is the best thing i've found since jumping into the world of FDM printers, you are the ducks guts mate.
missed opportunity to have 3d printed propane tank battery covers, swapping out the tank is actually swapping the battery
A battery makes for a pretty good counterbalance all the way on the back, BUT it would also influence center of mass, might make them more tip-prone when cornering fast.
Oh that would be so cool
@@Roobotics Just like the lifts I drive at work.
Center of mass low and towards the back allows for heavier loads as well.
Was just thinkin the same thing!

@professorboots thanks for the forklift! Great engineering once again!

2016 WesternStar with set back front axle.
I loved this. I am looking at building a 1:10th Scale semi model to load my 1:10th scale rc car on.
Everything explained in great detail. Excellent project 👍
On a flat surface, more surface does not influence the grip ;) Love this build!
It's so satisfying to watch! Great job! I'm going to build this with my kido.
That’s so awesome to hear, I hope you guys enjoy the build!
