Alt explanation for Goofy's knowledge of Zettaflare: He is actually the one who used it first and swore off magic entirely as a result of the detrimental effects it had on him. This would explain his deep knowledge of magic and its mechanics (able to identify the Zettaflare solely by the light, sigils, and body movements) yet his inability, or rather his disinclination, to use magic in-game.

I still support that the FF14 flare is Teraflare because typically the way magic works is that the tier of the spell AND the power of the caster themselves matter. Yes, the FF14 flare did end a world, but it was also being cast by BAHAMUT! If you launch a pebble at mach 20 it is going to be fatal despite being just a pebble. A lower-tier spell cast by a higher-tier caster is still stronger than a higher-tier spell being cast by a lower-tier caster.
That said, Donald being able to cast Zetaflare AT ALL is massively impressive regardless.

    • @thatrandom_canadian
      @thatrandom_canadian 7 месяцев назад +14

It's gotta be a minimum of Teraflare since the WoL has Teraflare as their Summoner LB3, directly due to experiencing it during the Calamity.

I think that Teraflare was the correct wording, because it isn’t the singular cast that caused the calamity. You’ll notice what looks like astral aspected aether spewing into the land the moment Bahamut breaks free. This would also explain why that singular cast of Teraflare was so strong: it’s nearly an entire Shard’s aether in a singular spell.

  • @TheKevinKeyblade

But let's not forget something, it's because of the mothercrystal core that Bahamut in FFXVI is capable of doing that incredible spell, we don't see him using that spell later in the game while Donald didn't need an external force but rather his energy to cast it, I think that gives some points to Donald's Zettaflare

Something I want to point out about flare magic, in the world ends with you there's another flare spell potentially more powerful than Zeta Flare known as iFlare. The final boss of week 2 uses it to wipe out Neku and Joshua. Of course he doesn't succeed but the only reason it didn't was Joshua sent himself and Neku outside of the UG which is the only way to escape it since iFlare covers the entirety of the plain you're on. So picture an explosion the size of the universe.

    • @thomasthecoolkid7228
      @thomasthecoolkid7228 8 месяцев назад +14

The Level i Flare is... weird. The "level" part is the most important, as the "standard" Flare spell generally used by actual playable characters at least _used to_ have a level attached to it. This wasn't exactly a measure of power like the data size prefixes used by Bahamut and such though.
How it worked was that the attack would check the levels of the enemies, and if their level is a multiple of the Flare's level, they get hit by it. For example, a Level 3 Flare would hit all enemies whose level is a multiple of 3. Sho Minamimoto used a Level _i_ Flare, meaning that the level multiple required to hit with it... is an imaginary number. So it hits literally everything. So it maybe has more _range_ than a Zettaflare, but power is kinda questionable.

There is also the base Flare spell, that's typically viewed as the most powerful Black magic in Final Fantasy lore.
Also, fun fact about Bravely Default. It's got a second name attached to it, especially the Japanese version, called The Fairy Flies. We also have Exaflare in fights with him and other powerful dragons and they just move differently than Terraflare, so they're dodge-able and of course are instant death most times if you get caught by one. Most likely what Bahamut was doing in the end of 1.0 and trailer for ARR is actually just Terraflare, but he's popping it off at-will...so he could potentially use Zetaflare maybe, but had no need of it since he was already doing the job with Terra.

Here's some additional info about FFXIV's Bahamut casting that Flare magic:
-The Limit Break level 3 of the Summoner job temporarily fuses themself with a simulacrum of the pure energy Bahamut used(also a skill called Dreadwyrm Trance), and casts Teraflare in a wide area of their choosing.
-Exaflare has been used multiple times throughout the game(there even is variations of it too), starting with Shinryu casting it during their fight against the player in 2017 during the Stormblood expansion.
Considering this information and the scale of Bahamut's rampage during the cinematic(which, from what we know nowadays in the story wasn't destructive enough to end the world, even though Bahamut was actually stronger than he should have been for antagonist-related reasons), it would be fair to say that this incarnation of Bahamut is casting a Teraflare, not a Zetaflare imo.

Zetaflare isn't the most powerful attack in Final Fantasy. The ACTUAL strongest attack is "12^2 Curse of Extinction" which is an secret attack used by the final boss Zeromus in the original SNES version of FF4 that DELETES THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE AND CAN BRICK YOUR CONSOLE OR PC.
How the attack worked starts like this. The way FF4 calculated "floors" is very weird as every map is considered a "floor" in relation to another map. Basically it uses a hidden variable to check the "floor" value to set your location every time you transfer maps. However, there are 3 stairways in the game that are bugged to not properly configure the floor value. These three staircases are located in Dwarven Castle, the Lunar Caves, and the final dungeon the Lunar Subterranean.
If you go to three specific staircases and travel up and down them 64 times, you will trigger the Zeromus' "curse of extinction" attack. Depending on your inputs in the few frames following the attack various things can happen, since the game is in a completely broken and very volatile state where the smallest input can destroy everything. Based on your inputs various things could happen including:
1: Teleporting you a particular map based on your inputs.
2: Deleting all your save files.
3: Bricking your game. (if on an emulator the ROM file is corrupted and can no longer be read)
4: Bricking your console or PC (blue screen of death if playing on an emulator)
The first option is actually used in FF4 speedruns to skip straight from the Dwarven Castle to the final boss room after getting all the proper event flags, cutting the speedrun by almost half. However using the glitch is incredibly risky as one failed input and your entire save, game cartridge/ROM, or even entire SNES/PC could be ruined beyond repair. This was originally just an obscure glitch, but there was an interview with Squaresoft West in Nintendo Power about the game and Squaresoft canonized the glitch as "Zeromus' ultimate secret attack" called "12^2 Curse of Extinction" that triggers as a trap Zeromus laid in certain stairs to LITERALLY DELETE THE UNIVERSE if you make the wrong move. The "12^2" of the attack being a reference of how many times you have to use the stairs (64 times) to trigger the glitch. This "attack" (actually a glitch) is therefore the strongest attack in Final Fantasy as it is the only attack in the series that can impact the real world and delete your saves or even entire PC. This also makes Zeromus the strongest villain, final boss, and antagonist in the series by a long mile.
Thankfully they patched this glitch in the GBA port and the glitch is not present also in the PSP, DS, Mobile, Steam, and Pixel Remaster versions. The glitch can still be found in the JP SNES, US SNES, EasyType, and PSX versions to this day.

Ultima, also known as the "I cast kill everything in this general direction!" move of final fantasy games. Ultima is usually always a massive non-elemental AoE that destroys everything with quad 9's across the board, while flare is relegated to be a single target spell with around the same power of ultima. I like to think of the ultima spells as an Ultimatum, wiping everything in front of the caster while also being indiscriminate in its destruction. Basically, if there was an evil or neutral flare, it would be Ultima. I always pictured white mages or good guys using flare spells for its single-target destruction and neutrally affiliated or evil characters using ultima to indiscriminately destroy everything. The reason why I say white mages specifically is because of the Dia spells from FF1, and giving the priests a Holy Fire spell seems accurate. To my knowledge, I haven't seen them return but I also know nothing past FF9 up to 16.

I'm pretty sure Donald did die when he casted Zeta flare. I'm guessing Disney wanted to censor his unintended suicide so they just put "he collapsed" in Jiminy's Journal. You were right on the money with that particle effect; it was only ever used for Strelitzia's literal death, apart from the Zeta Flare scene.

I wish ultima still got the love it used to have before they expanded the Flare line-up past Giga-Flare. I think it would be really cool to see someone realize that Ultima is actually one of the only -Ma spells to exist and they didn't realize it. there is -Ra, -Ga, -Ja, -Za, so having Ultima being the only (or one of the only) -Ma spells would solidify it's presence as being above most of the other spells (with exception for Flare which uses a different scaling).

Calamity Bahamut from FFXIV absolutely used Teraflare. You fight a smaller version of him in the Binding Coils of Bahamut raids, and he uses Teraflare that had the same visual effects Big Boy did at the end of the End of an Era cutscene. The only reason why the continent of Aldenard wasn't evaporated was because Archon Louisoix absorbed the aether and prayers of everyone wishing for salvation and became Phoenix to stop Teraflare.
A majority of Calamity Bahamut's damage came from blowing Dalamud's shards across the continent and bathing the land in Megaflares and corrupted aether.

What's neat is that FF16 is the first time out of three confirmed uses that Zettaflare was used to directly *threaten* a planet.
The other two had extremely good reasons why they were not used to destroy worlds.
Donald's a Disney Hero, so he has good reason to aim his attack away from a world.
Airy's master eats planets. (that's what Armageddon is, Ouroborous grabbing and eating a planet)
So it would be counter-intuitive to destory the thing her boss wants to eat.
Plus the fight where she uses the Zetaflare is in another dimension.

Well Cyn, to be completely honest the power of the most infamously destructive spells of the FF saga (and the same can be said for almost any SE game) frequently depends on the context and lore of the game they're found in.
For example, in the majority of the FF games, Meteor is simply an extremely powerful magic (way more than Flare) that sometimes, in enhanced forms, can also serve as signature move of the main villain of the game (ex: Starfall XVI for Emperor Mateus or Twin Meteors for Golbez) while instead, in FFVII, Meteor is an apocalyptic entity capable to end the world, summonable only by Sephiroth and stoppable only by Aerith and only via Holy; given this, the three Zettaflares may even be three entirely different spells despite having the same name.
Aside from that, as i already said in another video of yours, i really don't get how any KH fan who is also an FF fan could actually being surprised by this Donald/Bravely Defaut's Fairy fact; i mean, the strongest mage in the FF series and probably in the entire SE universe is F.KING SHANTOTTO!! What did you expect? (Oh, and just to be clear, with "the strongest" I don't mean "by a bit", i mean "by a landslide").

In that fight, you have to do enough damage to defeat him before he uses it or it KO's the party. Notably, as far as the event of the lore of ff14 go, Bahamut didn't destroy the planet, he rendered it unlivable by creating a massive almost radioactive like magic disturbance that had to be undone by certain forces in game. Killed everything that didn't escape, but as planetary body the planet was still there.

The reason Terraflare is known to be used in the cutscene for FFXIV:ARR is that its confirmed in the Coils of Bahamut raid boss. It uses the exact chargeup animation from the cutscene in raid and has a countdown "Bahamut will use terraflare in 10... 9...", eorzea is the only continent affected as well, as its shown pretty clearly that even places neighboring the continent like alamhigo are pretty much untouched by what happened.
Flare attacks in general are also often known to be an AOE with purely defined traits, BEEG DAMAGING FIRE. Whereas ultima is often known as a plot device literally just meaning "finale", the ultima spell and ultima weapon being counterparts that change shape and form in the times it appears even in the same series. Mickey knowing ultima makes sense, and ultima getting stopped pretty quickly is also common. FFXIV also shows ultima doing a metric boatload of damage, but it was all localized to a garlean base, a massive one, but not nearly the same range or pure terraforming that Bahamut did in the opening cutscene(the metal above and lives got vaporized by ultima, leaving the only one that survived being the champion with literal -mommy- goddess plot armor, but terraflare revealed a whole ass crystal tower underneath that nobody even had a clue was there until after the calamity, with miles of nothing but pure rock and screwed up environment/weather unique to the area).
So it makes sense that people would be more hyped about donald doing the big fire than mickey doing the big plot device.

You guys are all forgetting the ACTUAL most powerful Flare spell , "Level i Flare" (from the world ends with you its user is Sho Minamimoto) wich is a BONKERS spell/psych , Zettaflare is limited by its value (zetta) level i flare has infinite power and infinite reach it can reach wherever your soul and your body is, and I mean on every plane of existence and inexistence its not only a planet buster its a multiplanar buster (I dont even know if that is even a term) the only reason Sho's psych didn't even worked is because Math brain used it against Jesus Christ himself who absorbed (presumedly) part of the spell to shield neku and then teleported to another Dimension

    • @metalsonic8888

I think you are misunderstanding the spell. It is Level i Flare, as in it casts Flare on enemies with levels divisible by i, the imaginary number. In other words, it is cast on everyone. It's a reference to similar spells in Final Fantasy like Level 5 Death or Level 2 Old where the spell will bypass any resistances the enemies have to unavoidably hit them with the named spell if their level is divisible by the number specified. However it's still only using the spell Flare, a strong black magic spell to be sure, but hardly lethal to most late game Squeenix characters

Actually, sometime in 2022, they added ronna and quetta to the metric prefix list, meaning the flare spell could go up to 1,000,000 times stronger then zettaflare now.
Also, in ff14, I think it might've been pettaflare actually, as the continent of Eorzea while devastated, wasn't destroyed (as it would be with exaflare), and many environments were completely altered permanently, so petta seems right.

    • @Orphim
      @Orphim 7 месяцев назад

Well, Bahamut was kinda forced to shoot that flare early and it was for the most part blocked as well if you finish the Bahamut raids and get the story there. So that devastation was from a blocked ability. It didn't even get to hit it's target, that's the splash damage from the attack. Enough to call it a calamity, ruin the area potentially permanently, and basically be the excuse all warriors of light vanished (for the reboot to bring new ones back.)
It could be Zetaflare, but the game explicitly mentions it was Terraflare in the raid, so I'mma follow with the FF14 canon on that.

In Final Fantasy, the ultimate damage spells are: Flare, Holy, Meteor, and Ultima. They all play different roles depending on the game but the rule of thumb is usually that Holy is about equivalent to Flare in damage and both are single target, and Meteor does less than Flare while hitting all targets, but Ultima does the most damage and hits all targets, the true "ultimate" magic usable by the player. Meanwhile, Bahamuts Megaflare should be roughly comparable to Ultima, since they are practically identical in most gameplay cases. Then Gigaflare is even stronger, then Teraflare, and then finally Exaflare and Zettaflare.

I don't know, feels like an interesting way to make some of the magics in KH being less of raw power and more of a sittuation of "this spell might be strong, but it doesn't matter if you can't pull it off in time" type of spell. Would also explain why they didn't use it before, as it was a risky move that could be countered, so they only use it when things are going terribly wrong.

@@supagreatman2826 thats why I didnt address the size of the spells to begin with and focused on the magical capabilities (hope its correct) that make the difference in spell power

Bahamut in 14 didn't carve the planet as deeply as the Exaflare summon. It merely mauls the surface. While it does force the citizens to redraw the maps, it doesn't vaporize the continents entirely like Exaflare. That's likely why people say its Teraflare.

I'd say Tera Flare for FFXIV Bahamut is pretty accurate. It didn't "End the whole world", it scarred a pretty big chunk sure. But only a small part of the continent of Eorzea was really turned into a no mans land. Plenty of people also survived the events and live on to A Realm Reborn. If it was exaflare, there would be no more Eorzea. If it were Zeta, goodbye Hydaelyn.

16’s bahamut is also in the exclusive club of using zetaflare

For FF14 Bahamut, take a look at his ultimate fight, The Unending Coils of Bahamut. Bahamut casts what everyone dubs as, "oh no, that's the exact same cast as what was used to end the world/create the 7th Umbral Calamity, Terraflare

Idk, I would assume that Donald, as the court magician, practices his magic quite a lot and perhaps casted it in practice once before (hopefully aiming away from any habitable planets), and it nearly killed him. Hell, if the different game series are parallel, not all connected, then for all we know Donald DEVELOPED Zetta Flair as a fire spell to rival Mickey’s Ultima or vise versa.
