Fun fact, in a level 1 run (assuming you do things correctly for maximum damage output), it also takes only 2 cycles to take out genie Jafar. The only difference is that you can't get hit, which makes this fight unironiclly difficult.
I did that with KH1 on Destiny Islands as a kid for some ungodly reason. I found out you could technically battle Selphie indefinitely as long as you perfectly parried her jump rope. She would never die from hitting herself with it, so you could just go on until you messed up and hit her by mistake. Yeah, I was a strange kid.
I found a similar infinite loop where while fighting Wakka, if you do a little jump before whacking the ball away it won’t hit him, and he’ll just keep spam throwing it at you.
@charonib oh yeah! I remember that too but I think I preferred selphie because either it was easier to do or it gave more points. I can't quite remember anymore.. You'd get one point for deflecting the jumprope and another point for it hitting her on the head, lol. So it was 2 points. Can't remember if hitting wakka's ball without hitting him with it gave 2 points or not.
I remember discovering the Selphie jump rope thing too! I didn’t grind to level 100 but I did grind to level 15 for scan on the sword path. Her “oooooww” is burned into my head
I believe Pride Lands is 100% optional, much like Atlantica. I assume they wanted you to be able to skip Lion Sora if you didn't want to play in that form. Pride Lands isn't exactly a minigame world but it does play very differently from the rest of the game.
11:51 thats so simple and clean to explain: combat. This game just nailed the definition of a rewarding combo system and waist amount of options. Magic, Summons, Forms, Finisher, Square Commands, Triangle Commands etc. This game literally spams you with combat options which feel most of the time very fluent and fast. Thats what the first game was lacking. It felt stiff, slugish and sometimes even boring to fight. KH2 went full overboard with movement options were at the point you maxed out all the drive forms you literally were able to fly past anything like a jet. Its not a normal JRPG were you explore and go off script to find cool stuff. Its an flashy action game with rpg elements were you can shut your brain off and just enjoy a festival of pure unfiltered awesomeness. Also KH2FM added a lot with the super bosses.
It's like, I understand criticisms against KH2. But every time I play it I forget every single negative thing about it because of how much fun I'm having fr though you're still an absolute legend
@@ReptilianPThat's the problem with criticisms. It's acting as if this was a fixable issue and not the solution to other problems. If you never understood the term "Double Edged Sword" you're going to make a lot of people not like your criticisms because a negative aspect makes up the whole thing. What do I mean by that? For instance take the "Hallways" of KH2. Why did they do that? Do they hate exploration in their videogames? No. Because in KH1 people get lost quite often in the worlds. If you played Deep Jungle then it shouldn't surprise you they changed it up so that worlds have a flow to them that's very easy to understand. This also helped highlight the core aspect of KH2 which is the Unique Action RPG elements. Did you notice how they even made a lot of arenas not have walls so it's easier to see yourself when you fight? That's because trying to find the balance between an action camera with interesting complex terrain doesn't bode well. Square Enix did the GENIUS decision to just remove as many walls as they could. Which is a design philosophy DMC adopted into its games. Especially DmC which one could say is another "Hallway Simulator" but that's missing the point. Saying the level design is bad and should've been improved greatly misses the point. There's a fantastic video about how "negative criticism" isn't criticism. I highly suggest you watch it especially when you want to discuss videogames. Mario Sunshine is both loved and hated by the community. Why? Because the level designs were all pretty "boring" but that's only because they were all in service to his waterpump mechanic. So if you were into the water mechanics you'd see absolutely no problem with the level design. If you didn't really fancy the water mechanics then everything else seems pointless or worse by having the waterpump. So back to Kingdom Hearts 2 you can easily look at Land of Dragons "Checkpoint" Area as completely pointless and devoid of life. But on the other hand you can argue it's doing exactly what it needs to do so it can be more in service to you fighting the enemies in a very visually clear open area with minimal to no distractions. That's kind of why DMC5, Bayonetta, and KH2 combat works so well because they designed everything in service to the core gameplay mechanics they want you to invest into.
Yeah, when I first played this game a few months ago, I couldn’t stand the tutorial, it was so slow and kept dying to the boss fights in the Roxas section, I quit the game over 4 times, but after taking control of Sora, I started to love the game all the way until the very end, might as well become one of my favorite games of all time

KH2 was definitely divisive when it first released, People weren't sure what to think of Roxas & The prologue, They really just wanted to get to Sora, And the level design was definitely changed from KH1, Basically all the platforming was removed in favor of a more action first based approach, So instead of that exploration of charting a new world it often just felt like constantly fighting thru hallways. Honestly hard to really nitpick anything in 2 that isn't "Oh it's the tutorial" or "Oh, Atlantica" because both are exceptionally easy to deal with. The tutorial is wrapping up basically two games and clean-transitioning into this one (COM and 358/2), and it's only long for that first time, which is meant to give you some immersion on Roxas. Atlantica is so optional if you never unlock the world it'll be placed in your journal as complete before the final fight. Because Nomura knew we would hate atlantica.
KH2 was one of the first games I ever sat down and beat, then beat again, and again, and again, and so on. I think I've played it maybe 12-20 times through my life.
I don't think I could ever have the patience for a challenge. 11:44 Some points on why a lot of people feel that KH2 is the best. 1. The story. One could argue that KH1's story was more well rounded overall, but KH2's story has the highest highs of any story in the series. KH2's opening (which you've become very familiar with lol) especially stands out. Even among other RPG's with a more adult audience in mind, it's still very interesting. 2. Combat. KH2 just feels great on a basic level. Much more so than every other game, especially as far as combo "snappyness" is concerned. It's also the deepest system too, with a lot of strategies to explore. All with maximum player agency, unlike KH3 for example. Despite what is often made out, Reaction Commands aren't even always the best strategy, depending on the situation. 3. Boss design. KH2 has some of the best boss design in the genre. Tied with KH3 in that regard. More specifically Sephiroth, Lingering Will, and (most of) the Data Organisation. Taking the philosophy behind KH1's best bosses (Dark Riku, Ansem 2, Unknown, etc) and improving on it even more. There's still a fair bit of freedom even with the bosses that are on the more scripted side. Though I will say it's a bit odd how you seem to be counting boss phase transitions in the "scripted" category. Everyone's entitled to their opinion though. There are plenty of valid reasons to prefer other games over KH2.
9:45 This reminds me to a Story Boss Encounter in Xenoblade1 who I in my NG++ and NG+++ Run just Topple Locked and the Fight wasn't ending, it was funny though
I actually managed to make it to 200 hrs of playtime in KH II ON PROUD MODE. I’m not even kidding you. I wanna go for that Platinum 215 hr trophy. Xemnas is the hardest boss fight ever. I am still struggling to kick his sorry butt. 😅
Got to say you got a laugh on Kingdom Hearts 2 being the 3rd game. People forget chain of memories was made after the first game released on PS2, most remember the constant sequels start with Birth By Sleep instead of Chain of Memories on the GBA.
Ngl..I inadvertently did this in the first game on Destiny Island and it it again in the second game. I cycled around just like you did. I'm super glad I wasn't the only one who did this.
After this experience, it's the absolute best time to do a level 1 playthrough because it will reframe most of your criticism. Man i would love to see if your criticism evolves after experiencing level 1 or some speedrunning
Playing the game at level 1 will "evolve" my criticism from hallway simulator to harder hallway simulator. Increasing the difficulty of the game doesn't change the level design.
@@ReptilianP Yeah i would agree for most games that artificially increasing difficulty doesn't change the design and just makes you suffer more. But KH 2's level 1 is not some mindless increase in difficulty. The scaling system and the way you obtain abilities are very much designed with level 1 in mind. It's a different experience than just playing the game casually, and again : an experience you are now fully armed to appreciate to its fullest Though if that's not your cup of tea it's totally respectable no prob, cheers for the video and dedication regardless mate
I haven't played this game in its entirety in so long that I don't even remember 3/4 of the boss battles you showed lmao wow. Man, my childhood is a blur.
Those cars are ridiculously easy if you use the wisdom form... You can basically just pelt them to 1 hp then just knick em for the kill after their rampage is over.
imagine complaining that you don't understand why people consider this the best game in the series, and in basically the next breath you say for like the 5th time in the video that you literally wasted time doing the fun interactions in the game because you like them so much........ like sure bud, it's linear, but so is a rollercoaster and nobody ever complains about that cause it's still fun
😅 I actually like the quick time events and scripted ones. I love how cinematic the battles are, but I totally get the frustration you get especially considering this kind of challenge you were doing. It would be hella aggravating.
@@ReptilianP Typically it's the attack where the cars drive into the player that gives people trouble. You can use either Reflect or Block into Counterguard. Reflect melts their health as they're driving into you and Counterguard cancels their driving attack. With that, they're now easy to deal with.
You mentioned trying to get through as quick as possible which is why you didn't do pridelands, and space paranoids 2, but did you know that Olympus 2 is also optional. I only realized that when I was going for a 100 percent run recently and beat the game but didnt unlock lingering will because I forgot about it lol.
No. So with fans, people like Chain of Memories…but hate Re Chain of Memories. At least that’s what I heard online. And yes, I am one of those haters of Re Chain of Memories despite having never finished it.
I enjoyed it besides a few things that absolutely made it a grind. The cards were fun for the most part but yeah the original is more than likely superior. I didn't finish rikus part tho
The card aspect of the combat, to me, was fucking terrible. I still, to this day, have not even gotten past the first hour or so. It sucks because I know that chain of memories is one of the most important installments in regards to the story.
@@StrikeTheShroom As with most action games, the first few hours always have the most bare bones gameplay. Throughout the story you can learn more sleights (three card combinations) and get a better sense of how to build the most effect deck, making combat a breeze.
I swear there's a webnovel like this out there. An SAO clone where humanity thinks they've defeated the deadly dungeon they've been sending hunter (humans capable of magic just like Solo Leveling) after hunter into the dungeon. The story starts right after the MC beats what he thinks is the dungeon. Humanity celebrates and there's a worldwide message congratulating humanity on passing the tutorial, and the rest of the tower is not available. Cue people losing their minds!

Not sure if anyone else or pointed it out, but you labeled the Saix fight "Roxas" at 20:37. Not anything major, just something worth pointing out. Also I got a bit confused seeing Roxas encounters dropping drive orbs in some of the footage towards the end of the grind, but I'm assuming that leveling up gives the Drive Converter ability? It wouldn't really do anything at that point with no Drive gauge to manage, but it's interesting that the game still lets it work despite that.

11:44
Some points on why a lot of people feel that KH2 is the best.
1. The story. One could argue that KH1's story was more well rounded overall, but KH2's story has the highest highs of any story in the
series.
Should have done it on Critical Mode. the modifiers to the game make you by default comparable to a glass cannon.
Got to say you got a laugh on Kingdom Hearts 2 being the 3rd game. People forget chain of memories was made after the first game released on PS2, most remember the constant sequels start with Birth By Sleep instead of Chain of Memories on the GBA.
Yo Lord of the Rings catching Strays brother
Deserved strays
I bought in to this video immediately after the “oh brother this guy stinks” I love a well timed “oh brother this guy stinks”
Ngl..I inadvertently did this in the first game on Destiny Island and it it again in the second game. I cycled around just like you did. I'm super glad I wasn't the only one who did this.
1:00 maaaan LOTR is goated why it catching strays LOL
its also like 12 hours for the extended movies, half of 1 kingdom hearts game lol
Bro forgot about pride lands 💀
I was just trying to roll credits so I skipped Pride Lands 1 & 2, Space Paranoids 2, and didn't have Finny Fun in Atlantica 😂
13:00 I will always respect my boy chicken little for making this fight WAY easier
Why did John "kingdom" hearts piss me of in such a primordial way
😂😂😂
KH2 has much better combat but I 100% agree with your criticisms about the lack of exploration and it being a hallway simulator.
I like how you can hear the strikers opening in the beginning
This clothing sora is wearing on your video photo is amazing !
"those cars are harder than any boss in game "
lingering will: henlo
Fenrir + Negative Combo FTW lol
@@ReptilianP as long as you dont slip and miss
Hell no, LotR slander and KH2 being boring? Damn man, this is hard to watch. I mean, I get it, but still...
I legit forgot about you doing this man, nothing but respect for this grind bro!!
Kingdom hearts 2 is legendary
persona 5 strikers music you got good taste
Proud to say I did the same in FF6. Keep the grind, guys!!!
Yay, I’ve been waiting for this one!
It's a different experience than just playing the game casually, and again : an experience you are now fully armed to appreciate to its fullest
Though if that's not your cup of tea it's totally respectable no prob, cheers for the video and dedication regardless mate
I haven't played this game in its entirety in so long that I don't even remember 3/4 of the boss battles you showed lmao wow. Man, my childhood is a blur.
I'll be honest until the beastball grind I thought you dropped the channel great to see you back
Those cars are ridiculously easy if you use the wisdom form...
We really live in a society huh
So just so we're clear, you kept the party members' Auto Limit abilities on purpose for the extra challenge, right?
Your intro had me dying man 😂 subbed!
😅 I actually like the quick time events and scripted ones. I love how cinematic the battles are, but I totally get the frustration you get especially considering this kind of challenge you were doing. It would be hella aggravating.
ngl timeless river is the GOAT to me
I like every thing about Timeless River except for the STUPID CARS
@@ReptilianP Typically it's the attack where the cars drive into the player that gives people trouble. You can use either Reflect or Block into Counterguard. Reflect melts their health as they're driving into you and Counterguard cancels their driving attack. With that, they're now easy to deal with.
When sora absorbs roxas he is gonna be even stronger than when he first entered Castle oblivion
Give me an ounce of this dedication
@@StrikeTheShroomYou've only played the most dull part
@@kylespevak6781 I hear ya. So, enlighten me.
@@StrikeTheShroom As with most action games, the first few hours always have the most bare bones gameplay. Throughout the story you can learn more sleights (three card combinations) and get a better sense of how to build the most effect deck, making combat a breeze.
-me opening a kingdom hearts video for a bit of knowledge(never played them)
-persona 5 music starts
- *opens persona 5 on the other screen*
Kinda wanted to see him do the Data Battle fights and some of the Secret bosses to see how quickly those can be beaten.
11:56 was gonna say something to counter that point, but nah like well over half the game, even when you're outside, is walking down what is basically a hallway in terms of layout lol
You said wrecking havoc but spelled wreaking havoc at 12:49
Sora Down and Goofy at 20:39
I've been having these weird thoughts lately.. like is any of this for real or not?
I use Adobe's transcribe and auto caption features and then go back to fix the ones it messed up but looks like I missed a few. Correcting too many Rocks's and Swords a fried my brain lol.
@@ReptilianP20:36 at the saix battle total time you wrote roxas battle instead.
Dammit 😂😂😂
@@ReptilianP seems like your brain actually got fried lmao
this gotta be autism
Wait what? There are people who hate KH2? They must be nobodies.
*buh-dum tsk
I don't hate it but I didn't really enjoy it that much as I thought I would, I just wanted to finish it just so I could move on. The story is really nice though
KH 2 will always be my favorite and, in my opinion, the best installment in the series. The combat is peak and the story is fulfilling.
Imagine playing a game you actually enjoy rather than playing smth you have a different complaint every 2 minutes
Bud couldn't stop gobbling them orbs, tho so I probably coulda cut out like 30 hrs
Haha. I did a com gba run, except my shoulder buttons were broken. I was a little kid, with no money, so i grinded Traverse town till i was level 99. Never made it past the first portion of the turorial with leon, since you need the shoulder button to string cards together.
Longest endevour i ever undertook before i became self aware.
kind of wanted to see the Sephiroth boss time
So you do have a platinum for every game right?
The temptation to immediately leave the video when I heard the Lord of the Rings slander was strong but I will push through
The only Kingdom Hearts game that actually encouraged exploration was KH1. Those mickey mouse circles on the floor are one of the reasons. As well as the side bosses.
The slowmo 99 was worth it
This is final fantasy VII all over again
the persona 5 music goes hard bro
Turned off immediately after LOTR hate. 👎
Yo watched your stuff on tiktok glad to have found you here on youtube.
Did you cheese the Saix fight using peter pan and a single press of the attack button in midair? Or did you just wail on him
I just wailed on him. I'm gonna have to look that cheese strat up tho, that sounds fun lol.
@@ReptilianP I think either TheGamersJoint or Soraalam1 did a video from their playthrough. You gotta break him out of his berserk state before summoning Pan though
I fully expected a bonus round of the Data fights but also understand why you didn't. Who has time for optional content when you're King of the Domhearts?
This man has the balls to say the Pirates world is the worst when the Little Mermaid world exists 😂
@@JakeLane5029 You don’t like having Finny Fun?
@ReptilianP Lol hell no. Definitely the most forgettable world in KH2
As someone who has grinded in the tutorial for KH2 for just a COUPLE levels, you have my respect and sympathy
F-ing Seifer
I was here for this!
HEY, DID YOU KNOW THAT IN THE TWO TOWERS MOVIE, WHEN CHRISTOPHER LEE'S CHARACTER WAS STABBED IN THE BACK THAT THE DIRECTOR PETER JACKSON TOLD HIM TO LET OUT A DEATH SCREAM, BUT CHRISTOPHER LEE SAID "Have you any idea what kind of noise happens when somebody's stabbed in the back? Because I do"?
THIS IS BECAUSE CHRISTOPHER LEE SERVED IN THE ROYAL AIR-FORCE DURING WW2 AS AN INTELLIGENCE OFFICER AND HAS FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE DUE TO COVERT SABOTAGE MISSIONS HE WAS A PART OF! WHAT AN ACTOR!
Let me know if you want MORE of my cool Lord of the Rings facts by commenting below, and make sure to SMASH that like button.
12:05 I love kingdom hearts 2 the music the dialogue etc was perfect but I get wat u saying 😂😂😂
Ah yes, reaching Level 99 as Roxas
Bro how can someone not like KH2
I didn’t say that. I gave my opinions for why it’s not the best one in the series. Personally, my nostalgia blinders are set to KH1 mode.
Bruh. KH2 is so fuckin good cuz it wants you to swing the keyblades around. Sure, exploration takes a back seat unfortunately, but the fuckin combat be _so gud_ lol
Facts
Wait, what about the bosses in Pride Lands?
What about Sephiroth? How long it would take on max lvl to beat him?
Spehy is all skill no matter the level which I very little of lol
