I just discovered Big Wreck. What a shame ive gone 23 years without it, and specifically this song. Hits every single one of my musical G-spots. The swells, the thudding bass line, the subtly hard hook, Ian’s voice. All of it.
These fellas were on a flyer this night, ridiculous sound on top of sound, tighter than a frogs ass in water, all throughout they would look at each other and they knew they knew they were on it, Thankyou Big Wreck and Thankyou all who work for and work at Suhr.
I honestly believe these Suhr Factory party live performances is the best I've heard Ian play and sing - the 2014/2015/2016 gigs should be released as a cd pack - I'd pay decent money for that...
I'm wearing my tablet out playing big wreck songs. I just recently discovered them and the sheer number of fantastic songs is staggering. I find it so interesting how Ian is content to fly under the radar. It doesn't fit the typical musician method of operation. Mind you Ian is anything but typical im sure you'll agree. Anyway im just a proud Canadian feeling a little smug...look at these guys!!
With that suhr signatue in your hands there is absolutely no doubt you are the greatest guitarist of all time! And to have your voice and vocal range and songwriting skills we all would die for!!! And you have a great surname same as mine!
I caught that look of appreciation too. I can't get over how good this song is. Randy cooke is right on with drums like usual, the bass is perfect too.
I would also echo, that....get these performances up for grabs where they can be purchased by the public. Incredible musicianship by Ian and Big Wreck!!
I see no mention in the comments of the drummer, Randy Cooke. Another Canadian legend who deserves much more notoriety than he receives. (Rik Emmett, Dave Stewart, Don Felder, Mick Jagger, Ian Gillan, Dalbello, loads of pop artists...)
Not sure if this will get to Ian and the band... but you are the best Canadian Band... maybe ever....The only trepidation I have in that is the Guess Who. There's some serious song writing there.... You are more than the Hip to me, more than Rush, way more than Celine.. LOL... ... and I own more of your music than the Guess Who... ...so..... keep going.
this is incredible live music. Ian and Andy are just amazing musicians, and it's REALLY cool hearing pedal steel in a non-country music application. vocals are top notch too. just excellent in every respect.
Except 1000 times better. I say Stevie Ray sound, but even better technique. Vocally, not even close - I call Ian the "Canadian Chris Cornell". Mark Knopfler just mumbles.
I can't quite go that far, as Cornell was, to my ears, the best raw rock singer of this generation (range was incredible)... but Ian is in that league and is an amazing live guitar player, simultaneously. Incredible.
My appreciation grows every time I hear them play
One of the most naturally talented musicians of this day. Nothing forced. Pure enjoyment.
Highly underrated.

I still can't believe that this video hasn't gone viral. It's one of the best rock songs I've heard in the last 4 years.
It's a very simple tune performed masterfully.

I still agree with that now Dec.2019. ;-)
Agree 100%
for sure!!
15 live shows witnessed, would still agree at the end of this damned 2020 year
I would pay for a DVD... awesome sound and good live video. Guitar playing extraordinaire...
The best Rock music of last 20 years, Ian the best voice
I like the smile Ian gave the guy on the steel guitar at 2:50. He really added a great deal to this song.
Do you know who that is or what band he is in?
Ian is one of the greatest of all time and nobody can tell me different.

We need a live album of this on Spotify or other music service. Absolutely love this.
Ian and Co. Should be household names. Astounding to know that in many parts of the world he is an unknown talent.
super cool😁
That look after the steel guitar hits a classic country melody Ian has never heard on one of his song tho! Pure joy at 2:43
2:50 mark i the best part of this performance, that approving smile is priceless!!!
Band is incredibly slept on

Volume swells for the fucking win! This shit reaches deep inside my soul!
the sound on these Suhr performances is outstanding ........I would buy these
Sharing this with everybody I can. Phenomenal singing and guitar playing
THIS IS PERFECTION!!!!
Sir Ian Thornley is a cat of his own category, but somehow it reminds me of a Kotzen/Cornell mixture, Andy Wood is another great guitarist right here.
Great description and comparison!
Just discovering this dude today. Im excited to do a deep dive
Love the steel guitar on this song... at 2:40 he comes in, 2:50 that look Ian gives him...
I caught that look of appreciation too. I can't get over how good this song is. Randy cooke is right on with drums like usual, the bass is perfect too.
I said the same thing when Ian looked over.
Musicianship at its BEST..
I would also echo, that....get these performances up for grabs where they can be purchased by the public. Incredible musicianship by Ian and Big Wreck!!
sound quality is RIDICULOUS
Brilliant sound
Complete with none other than Andy Wood also on guitar!!!
Absolutely guitar clinic!
Canada's hidden gem.

Yeah at 2:40 he comes in, 2:50 that look Ian gives him... cool chemistry
COR BLIMEY THIS IS MIND BLOWING ABSOLUTELY ON THE TOP OF THIER GAME
I now know who I want to be when I grow up.
Ok ..that is fn' amazing! 👏
Smokin'! Great version of a great song off a great album. So much GREATNESS!
My fav Big Wreck song :D
You know........ if ever Ian Fletcher wants to join Soundgarden I am all for it.
Oh god this is so fucking good!
heavenly
Wow! Guitargasm!
LOOOVE THIS SONG. THE INTRO THOUGH...ISN'T THAT FROM A JEFF BUCKLEY SONG?
Fucking wonderful. X
F***en eh!!!! 👌🏻
Ian Thornley - the man that sounds better alone with bass / drum that with other good musicians. The best ! Still a great version though !
Superb stuff as always. How many more songs are there from this party?
+Paul Watson One more.... I think.
1:44 lol....when you just can't put your damn phone down!
Yea what do u think he was looking at?
@@CameronCox It could've been charts, he's probably the house drummer for this show
Is this Guy Ritchie Kotzen in a costume?
He's Ian Thornley in an Ian Thornley costume :| hahaha
Ah i was thinking the same , Kotzen and Ian my favorite singers+guitar shredders
He's the appointed canadian Kotzen. There's at least one per country, tasked with keeping the peace.
Their voices are similarly awesome rock voices. Both top shelf, with shades of Chris Cornell there. And both virtuoso guitar electric guitar players.
I like his pants
Straining that voice pretty good
Starts to sound like Dire Straits
Except 1000 times better. I say Stevie Ray sound, but even better technique. Vocally, not even close - I call Ian the "Canadian Chris Cornell". Mark Knopfler just mumbles.
ian is a better singer than chris cornell was. there, i said it......
I agree they are in the same league, can't make the call as to who's "better".
I can't quite go that far, as Cornell was, to my ears, the best raw rock singer of this generation (range was incredible)... but Ian is in that league and is an amazing live guitar player, simultaneously. Incredible.
Ian Fletcher Thornley is everything Chris Cornell wishes he was.
alive?
Ridiculous
what's on his headstock please?
A capo.
